I was looking for a roofer to re-roof our 38 year old geodesic dome home. Gula Roofing was recommended by another major roofer who said Jeff Gula had experience with domes. I contacted Jeff and he came out and surveyed our project and submitted a bid. I was impressed with Jeff as I knew roofing a dome was a bit different. He explained what he would do, made some recommendations and still asked what we thought. We got 6 bids on the roof and Jeff was in the middle but the only one to give us the square footage of our roof. We had bids that ranged from $21,000 to $55,000. Low bid didn't know what they were getting into and high bid was way out of line.

Jeff and his crew started working 7am - 5pm every day. His 4 man crew worked very well together with Jeff working half the crew and Walter the other. They were always communicating with each other to get it right. There were two ways to lay the singles. 1) Lay them across parallel so they kind of wrapped The dome and make it look more round. or 2) Cut the angles so you see the pentagons that make up the shape of the dome. This was much more work intensive but was what we wanted so Jeff said not
problem.

The work took 8 days. We had three skylights, two of which were triangle and 38 years old. If one was damaged it would cost about 3 grand to replace. Jeff was able to remove and replace them with no damage saving us a lot of money and time. We also requested a different water diversion system on the eyebrows which Jeff customized for us.

I have to say it was a real pleasure watching them work. Very personable and professional. They cleaned up at the end of each day and we walked the project. We were more than happy with the job they did.

In the end we got a real surprise. Jeff said we had a refund coming since he did not use all the materials ordered. We have never had a company do this as we had signed a contract and agreed on the price. Jeff Gula is a very honest man. I would highly recommend him for any roofing project. I would give him a 6 star rating if they had that.

Jeff Gula has been our roofer for years. He and his people have always
done a great job repairing damage and fixing leaks...until the last 2 or 3
years.

His foreman repaired a roof leak about three years ago at a fair price and
said to call if there were any other problems. There were leaks during
the next rain storm.

It took Jeff more than a year to finally respond and that was only because he got a wrong number. He came over and led us to believe he would be back after a trip to New York in November 2016. He never showed up again. After repeated calls and e-mails, he finally showed up again with his son one morning unannounced. He said he would be back within weeks. He never showed up again although we were on his list of two small jobs to do in Alpine.

It is both frustrating and sad to deal with someone who did such great work at very fair prices in the past.
Please do not come back or contact me again. I do not want a refund nor
do I want you to respond. I will have someone else do the necessary
repair work.

Let me start by saying I rarely write reviews, however, I felt compelled to write a review due to the exceptional work and professionalism we received with Gula Roofing Company.

I called a different roofing company before we called Gula Roofing. The other ""reputable"" roofing company quoted us at over three times the price and refused to write us an estimate with a break down of what they were going to do as well as costs until we committed and signed an agreement that we were going to get the work done with them.

Needless to say, we began shopping around and I found Gula Roofing. The owner Jeff Gula came over assessed the roof damage, e-mailed me a quote that night with what he would be doing along with costs. I scheduled the repair, he came when he said he would. Communicated important information about the tiles we currently have (they don't make them anymore). Tried to find them for us still, when he couldn't he found a very close match. Even went as far as moving tiles around so the slightly different ones were in a place where they couldn't be seen and the matching ones were in the front.

Excellent customer service, craftmanship, professionalism, and communicates with us every step of the way. That's saying a whole lot these days, those qualities are hard to find.

I'm careful who I allow in my home as well as work on my home. Needless to say, we were very happy working with Gula Roofing and the owner Jeff Gula and trust him based on the character he has displayed during this whole transaction.

Gula Roofing has my business and referrals!
