Very good experience with Richard and company. Their pricing is much more reasonable than most and they are up front and honest. Communication throughout the entire process was good and was willing to answer any questions or concerns I had. The construction team worked hard the entire time and made short work of my roof job. Once it was all completed I had no issues and they did a good job of cleaning up after themselves. This is something you shouldn't have to do often if done right so I would 100% recommend this company.

I'm writing this review a bit late, but it was worth the wait. Just as the news outlets started reporting that in a week Tampa would possibly be hit by the largest and most intense Atlantic hurricane on record, we awoke to discover a good sized water stain on the ceiling of our one story house in Carrollwood. The roof had been re-done only a year earlier (all new shingles and plywood under-panels replaced as necessary, for $14,000) but the contractor did such a bad job on everything else that we did not want him back in our house to honor the warranty on his roof work.

If this leak had suddenly occurred after a typical Tampa rain shower, what would happen in a hurricane? We had to find another roofing contractor right away, but the timing could not have been worse, since every other homeowner with a leaky roof was suddenly desperate to get repairs done before the storm hit. I called six roofing companies and got nowhere.

Richard from Gold Seal Roofing called me back at the end of the day, and I explained that the leak seemed to be coming from the bottom corner of the chimney. I'm sure I also conveyed my anxiety about the approaching hurricane and he said he would try to help us if he could. We had to be out all the next day, but in the evening I received an email from Richard saying that his guy had stopped by to evaluate the situation on his own. Again, we were not home when he was there, but he identified the problem as being fairly minor (loose flashing and a cracked chimney cap), and I assume because of the semi-emergency circumstances, he had gone ahead and fixed it right away.

At this point Richard had received no payment info from me at all, but he had trusted that I would pay him for the work, in order to expedite the repair and protect our property from likely damage during the storm. I was incredibly relieved and paid him as soon as he contacted me again.

My wife was a bit concerned that any work had actually been done, since it wasn't visible and we had not witnessed the repair in person. I'm delighted to report that the hurricane came and went a few days later, dumping a ton of water on us, and not a single drop leaked in. Richard and Gold Seal Roofing had obviously been true to their word.

I think Gold Seal Roofing is the definition of a good business. They were really there for us when we needed them, and I am extremely grateful and satisfied with their work. I recommend them highly.

Update: I've been contacted by the manager of this company. He states that they opened in 2014 and the old business under the same name closed in 2011. He did offer to make my roof repairs at cost.
I do appreciate that offer, although not needed at the moment, and considering his prompt and courteous reply to a problem that doesn't appear to be his, I'm updating my stars to reflect a five star rating.


We had a new roof put on by Gold Seal about 7 years ago. Turns out they didn't replace our chimney flashing. Now I have wood repairs to make, and thousands of dollars to replace the flashing.

What kind of a roofing company decides that they are not interested in fixing your roof? I called them three weeks ago and he tells me that they are too busy. I called them back today and they tell me that someone came out but no one was home. They never called me back so I am shaking my head. and now they don't want the job. What is a homeowner to do with this kind of irresponsible customer service?
