Let me first just say that we've shopped around for solar before but never moved forward. Is it just me or do most solar companies come off worse than used car salesmen? It really turned us off of the entire solar process.

After this summer's heat wave, we finally got sick of the high electric bills and bit the bullet on getting solar. My husband ended up finding Smart Solar and comparing quotes with a large solar company. They were about the same, but Lloyd and Smart Solar came with unparalleled customer service. They answered all our questions (and my in-law's questions as they also decided to get solar installed at their house) and helped guide us through the whole process. No shady business and we finally were able to confidently move forward with solar. They coordinated everything between the electrician, SDGE, and explained how to get a loan for everything. It's been great.

When their truck was parked outside my neighbor friend commented on how she ""loves Smart Solar!"" I mean, seriously... who says that about their solar company?

Just completed an installation by the guys at Smart Solar last week. I dont think we could have had a more smooth process!! From the minute we pulled the trigger until the minute we were up and running was just about three weeks!! Nick, our installer was great....very informative, professional, easy to work with. The office folks and managers were great as well. I would definitely recommend SSC to anyone that asked.... there are so many options for Solar out there, we felt lucky to have worked with these guys!!!

Wow, the Decision to get solar was quite a journey for us. We had such inefficient HVAC ductwork and old unit coupled with old pool pump, our SDGE bill was out of control. Getting pricing and solar info from various companies was a lot of info to process. We decided on Smart Solar at recommendation of the Energy Pros (858) 633-6749 and a friend who had them do their solar.

Team was great to work with, even juggled around our HVAC install that occurred in same timeframe. Our work was scheduled for 2weeks out and Parris contacted us that they could start earlier. They came out next day and we are already hooked up with our permission to operate from SDGE received on what would have been our original start date. This company cares to do a good job and holds their team to a high standard. Lloyd, owner, obviously cares for his customers and Parris, Project manager, made sure the workmanship was of highest quality. He had his team redo conduit lines (without our asking) to make the system as clean and efficient looking as possible. Inspector was in and out in just minutes. Great job team! We recommend Smart Solar to anyone looking for a quality product and professional install.

Just got the installation and the reasons why I gave them this rating is that we had a dispute at the end when I was not happy with 2 minor things,
- concrete cut up and reinstall using flagstone was very poor (see pics left side is the target and right was done by SS).
- unfinished holes not patched up
- electrical conduit was misaligned
Thus I withheld the last payment until they completed it. To my surprise the owner sent a letter threatening legal action to place a lien on my property.

I was promised by the salesperson, Casey Fox, 100% Satisfaction which was was 90%.

After the threat, I held firm and told them to fix all of the deficiencies. SS finally came back to finished the job in 2 weeks. I then paid them 100%.

Lessons learned from this....
- don't let them do any hard scraping as they are DIY Home Depot trades
- if you do not pay the full amount at the end and you're not satisfied, expect to get a nasty letter from SS owner.

After some research comparing multiple offers from various solar companies, I decided to go with SmartSolar and can't be happier.

Lloyd and his team underpromise and overdeliver, which is a rare skill on today's market. If they claimed that the equipment will be installed in 2 weeks - it's done within 2 days.
Not sure how they make it, but everything including delivery, installation and even dependencies on SDGE were resolved way before the commitment with highest quality.

Smart Solar installed a system on our roof in January. We are more than pleased with the results. All of the employees we came in contact with were professional and the service was excellent.
