We decided with NEM 3.0 approaching Apr 2023 to finally pull the trigger on having solar panels installed. There are a lot of choices and I vetted 10 installers. Why so many? We wanted to lift & relay our 30yr old roof before installing panels. Many vendors were quick on a solar panel proposal but slow w/ roof repair estimates. I picked Smart Solar over the others for a few reasons. First, our consultant Kelly was very patient, friendly, & knowledgeable. Next, they weren't the cheapest but offered quality hardware & great warranties. Smart Solar's quote included both solar & roof repair, including a new skylight. Signed our contract Feb 8th. The licensed roofer did a great job repairing termite-damaged fascia & repapering the roof. The roofers & solar panel installers scheduled their work around the many rainy days we had in March & April. They handled all the paperwork w/ SDGE & scheduled the city inspection. SDGE's permission to operate started today May 4.

I strongly recommend against using this company to do a residential solar installation. If I could give them, zero stars I would. To begin with, they gave me bad advice about whether I needed a new breaker panel to support the solar installation and I had to change out my panel halfway through the project which delayed city approval. They argued with the city of Anaheim about every correction needed to bring the project to code. This resulted in months of delay in getting the project approved. This meant I couldn't take the federal deduction in the year where I spent most of the money for the installation. Finally when I complained all the way up to the CEO, they were rude and unresponsive.

After seeing the good reviews, I contacted Kelly for solar on a house that we recently closed on. She was prompt with the initial assessment but then nothing. I persisted with emails/phone calls and she started working with us to come up with a design. She was extremely defensive through our process of discovery on questions related to deposit , time for installation etc. On the last day (March 20th at 11am) when we were ready to sign the contract and put the deposit in, she backed out saying she was not a good fit for us. How does the company hire such unstable salespeople? She was an emotional wreck whining about her hours! Thanks to her poor service we might end up missing the SDGE deadline.

What a great educational experience amongst all these new laws and regulations coming on April 13. Yash gave us a very thorough explanantion of the solar panel process, materials used, and all with a 25 year warranty. He did an amazing job of explaining everything and guaranteeing us being grandfathered in for NEM 2 as long as we signed by March 20. We didn't wait! We signed up last week and are getting roofing as well. Looking forward to seeing the project progress.

First he offered me money to remove it! That's right. He BRIBED ME! Then he updates his response to me THREE YEARS LATER trying to make me the bad guy.

You are nothing but an insecure bully!

It's so hard for you to accept that you need to improve in certain areas of your business and come to terms with the fact that you and your company are NOT worth 5-stars.

You are embarrassing yourself and your family! You are spending so much of your time being malicious and dishonest trying to hurt me. Well guess what? You're not breaking me down. You're just adding to the fire of a huge public embarrassment (and restraining order) that's coming your way.

Your company sucked at servicing our needs. Own it. Learn from it. And Move on.

So I was searching for solar and got about 5 bids from local companies. Smart Solar, in particular Yash , was the only agent that took time to actually explain and educate us on all aspects of the project and how not to be taken advantage of. They have an amazing document that explains all aspects of solar and what to look for in contractors that Yash thoroughly explained to us. I am so glad we went with Smart Solar , saved us alot from the other bids and they have a 25 year warranty on all things ,even roof leaks! Thanks Yash and Smart Solar for proposing a tailored proposal that will more than cover our energy needs. We are already saving lots and cant wait for summer to crank our AC!!!!

We purchased our home in January 2022 in El Cajon (moving from Ventura County). After seeing our summer electric bills, decided we needed to add solar. I did some research on Google and Yelp and found 4 companies to request quotes. Kelly scheduled a video meeting with us within a few days. We were very please with her presentation, knowledge, and professionalism. She was very clear with what to expect in the process, timelines, etc. She took her time to answer our questions and make sure we had a very clear understanding on how the system would work, the tax rebate, and the NEM 2 vs 3. Their price to install was very competitive.
The office staff were also helpful and informative. We were sent regular emails with updates in the progress and what to expect next.
The only issue we had was the Enphase monitor was not communicating with our wifi but Braulio came out right away to get it working. (the panels were producing).
From first contact to turning on the system was 9 wks. (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years were during those weeks).

Logan was awesome.

I have heard of solar horror stories. This company isn't one of them.

Sunrun was $5k more and for a smaller system (sunrun system was 23% smaller). also pushy. Sunrun isn't the worse but for $5k more, same panels, pushy salesman (wanted me to get a lease or a ppp and was against micro inverters).

After lots of discussion on my needs, I was advised to get a system bigger than most people suggested.

I am so glad I listened to this company. Mark H was the OG guy who was the sales rep/company and he was super helpful.

While not having all the information (I asked for math to support the rationale to the big system and how it would work with the bill. note: this was a huge ask because the sce billing is incredibly complex and confusing), I am able to say that after 12 months and getting my final settlement bill, we did indeed save money in 2022 vs previous 12 months.

Install was great, took a month or two (my dads solar took 6 months or more). I had a panel go down and within half a week this company had a tech out and it was fixed.

Logan always responded to my texts (i was probably annoying because of my many questions).

Smart Solar was a great decision for my parents' house. Yash was responsive and explained what to look for in solar contractors. I appreciated his transparency. He saved us a few thousand than going with Sunrun. I'm glad he gave us a great deal. I'm more impressed with Yash's helpfulness and time in the process. Thanks Smart Solar and Yash!

One of the best companies I had the pleasure of working with. Yash was amazing. He takes a educational approach and provides the best value with many options. He explained the entire process and how cost per watt works with a customized proposal for our needs. We also had our roof done as well which was professionally done. I highly recommend this company.
