This is an overdue review for roofing repair we had done by Gastelum back in May. My husband did a search for ""unsponsored"" roofing and contacted them. They returned my call two days later (roofers were extremely busy from the harsh storms earlier this year). We had a leak coming through our kitchen from the rough unexpected storms earlier in the year. We had 3 other companies come out to inspect our roof and give estimates for repair.

1) Gastelum was the ONLY one who tried to do a fix to stop the leak (another storm came through and it another leak started but they did come out to do a fix until they could come out to do a full repair - no other company did this).

2) Gastelum was the ONLY one who pointed out that where the rain was supposed to drain through the tiles were misaligned leaking the water to go under the tiles and that when homes were built. When homes were being built, roofer place the paper for the tiles and then the homes are stuccoed. Some stucco gets on the paper on the roof and roofers don't clear them out since roofers are in a rush tiling.

The other estimates I had just mentioned a broken tile here and there. Gastelum found more broken tiles when inspecting the whole roof other than just where it was leaking. They said who ever was on the roof at one point didn't know how to walk on the tiles correctly that they cracked them.

The storms had them postpone the repair from the original date but they had to keep pushing the date due to unexpected storms and having to push everyone on their schedule. They will share photos of your roof to show what needs repairing. They did an amazing job and there's no more leaks! Thank you Gastelum for extending our life of our roof!! I highly recommend these guys for roof repair.

We just finished a re-roofing project with Gastelum and couldn't be happier. We have an older house and had 2 layers of old shingles so had to do a tear-off before they could proceed. Once they started they realized that there was actually 3 layers on the front side. The back of the house revealed extensive wood rot from an incorrect installation of a skylight. Also lots of dry rot and termite damage was evident as well.

All the problem areas were removed and replaced with new wood, painted to match. A waterproof barrier was added. The shingle installation looks excellent as well.

I chose to wait until late summer to avoid any rain, but of course that didn't work and we had several rain events the week they were working. The roof was covered with tarps everyday before they left, which I was really happy about.

I also like that they did the permitting and did
everything correctly.

Former neighbors in Cardiff recommended this company but we thought we should do our due diligence so we had four roofers come out. Luis Gastellum was the only one who actually seemed interested and the sole tradesman who got on the roof to examine it. His estimate was reasonable (middle of the ones we received) and he was accommodating to our schedule. His workmen were dependable, showed up on time and cleaned up meticulously every night. Luis came by to inspect periodically. When a hurricane threatened less than halfway through the project, he made sure the men got the two layers of paper down (by working on a Saturday) and he personally came by on the day of the storm to ensure we had no leaks. When the Carlsbad inspector came for the final sign off, he mentioned how much he liked this company and said we'd chosen well. We think we did.

We are SO happy with this company. The bid was fair, everyone showed up on time, cleaned up every day, and the house looks great. They also took care of the permit.

We had our roof done a few years ago by Gastelum on our side of a duplex. They took great care to make the roof look clean and sealed between ours and our neighbors roof, who was not ready for a new roof.
A couple of weeks ago, our neighbor decided to get their roof redone, but hired someone else. You could see from the ground, things weren't right. I asked Gastelum if they would give an inspection.
They were so polite and kind and came quickly, without expecting anything but to help. Upon the inspection, they found several serious issues with the section the other roofer worked on, leaving damage and unsealed sections between the two roofs. We were provided pictures and videos, so we could show the other roofer and homeowner.
Thankfully we were able to have Gastelum to the repairs also, as we knew they would do the job right.
This company has earned their five stars!!!!!

I should have written this review sooner. I just walked into my garage and it is much cooler than it has ever been thanks to Gastelum roofing. It didn't occur to me I needed better ventilation but the very fair quote I got from Luis included 2 new roof vents, new fascia and some tricky reconstruction where a company that installed a sunroom tore off part of the roof and cut off rafter ends. The roof looks great, the crew put 2 coats of paint on the new wood. They showed up when they said they would, he charged the price quoted and finished on the finish date. Rarely have I had such a positive experience with a contractor. Would give 10 stars if I could even though I had to wait in line to get it done. Gastelum Roofing is very busy.

Gastelum Roofing the most amazing company I have dealt with in my life. I'm sure there are other good roofers out there, but this is unbelievable. After having watched him to six homes in our neighborhood I contracted to have my California tile roof redone. His price was more than competitive, the workmanship exquisite. Attention to detail, the knowledge of the job, showing up on time and always leaving a clean job site till he was finished. my gosh the owner actually participates in the work. I also had a lot of wood damage which I figured was going to cost me alot, but he did not take advantage of the situation. This company is the best.

I had estimates from 3 companies for Roof replacement and some wood repair. 2 of the estimates said wood repair to be determined on top of the cost to replace the roof. Gastelum came out and did a complete walk around and on the roof and included the wood repair in the estimate for roof replacement. He came in much cheaper than my other 2 estimates. He did an excellent job and the work was inspected by the city of Oceanside. I met the city inspector after he completed his inspection and he said Gastelum Roofing is one of the better companies in Oceanside that he deals with. Also, my HOA also had to inspect his work and passed without problem.

Luis is the most professional friendly business owner! I highly recommend him. He is on time, cleans up, and provides photos before and after. His prices are fair and reasonable. I have already recommended him to a friend in the neighborhood. I cannot say enough positive things about Luis and Gastelum Roofing! I absolutely will use them again!

Gastelum Roofing replaced the roof on my 3-story apartments last year and did an amazing job for a great price. Anything underneath that didn't look great or had visible water damage was replaced and sheeting was even added to areas that never had it. The structural integrity of the roof is actually better than when built in 1975. I just had them back to replace the decks and balconies and they gave the same professional, expert work...everything is water-tight and beautiful. If they are available, hire them.
