Made an appointment for ""Mr. Garvey"" to come to evaluate my roof on a Tuesday between 1-4 pm per my conversation with Nico. No one showed, no phone call to reschedule. When I called them a week later to ask what had happened I was told someone would contact me, once again I never received any communication back from the company. Very poor business practice, I'm not sure how they stay in business with such lack of consideration for their potential clients.

The guy comes out, Thomas Garvey, gives his thoughts onto fixing my roof, sits at my kitchen table and writes up the estimate which seem reasonable. He does say some really stupid things while at my table. I could see that his comments could be grounds for a lawsuit.--Mr. Garvey, I am not your buddy, we are not friends, we don't even have the same sense of humor or tasteless jokes.

After about a week ( getting other estimates) I agree to his terms and sign his contract. Then he totally flakes, says there are other people ahead which is understandable but when asked where I was in his queue he refuses to answer. This went on for 4 weeks even though in his contract he says he will provide services within 3-10 days. I went I yelp and saw reviews that exactly expressed what was happing to me and I called him again to get a concrete date or at least to know where in his work we were, he then throws a fit like a 5 year old, griping and complaining. I told him that he had review that were expressing exactly what was happening to me--wait for it folks-- He said he was being extorted and thats why he had the bad reviews--No, Mr. Garvey its because you don't follow through with your contracts. then you complain about your own breaching of a contract.

Through his bad humor, lack of responsibility, temper tantrums and bad thought process, it makes me understand that he is just not a matured human being. And you shouldn't hire this guy because he might get a boo boo on your roof, blame you for his mistakes and sue you.

Sadly, we were so disappointed with our experience with Garvey Roofing! We knew a lot of close friends who used them and recommended them to us. He came out promptly and was friendly. He said he would have the estimate the next day. Several days later we began calling and calling him and he never returned the call. Finally a week later we reached him and he told us that he had so many clients, that he didn't have time to do our roof! Would have been nice to know that when we originally called because we are trying to beat the rainy season that we heard was coming! Very unprofessional Im sorry to say.

Not only is the owner, Tom Garvey, a roofing expert with all kinds of licenses, but he has integrity. If you don't really need his services, he will actually tell you rather than try to get your money! I knew that Tom's reputation was excellent so I referred a friend who told me she needed a roof inspection.Tom asked her some questions over the phone, told her what she could easily do to fix the problem. She did what he suggested and didn't need the inspection! It's hard to find someone that honest nowadays. She says she's definitely going to hire him when she has an actual need!

I had Garvey Roofing Inc. take care of my roofing problem. Mr. Garvey, the CEO himself came and checked the roofing issue. He wrote up an estimate, explaining terms of the contract. I didn't even have to pay until the job was complete. I had other roofing companies give me estimates, many were telling me to replace the whole roof when it was not necessary.

Garvey Roofing Inc. operated very professionally and attended to the job for what needed to be done only. I am completely satisfied with their job and they assured me I could contact them if anything comes up with the job they attended to. They gave me the peace of mind that my roof was well taken care of.

I used Garvey roofing to replace my roof this spring and the job went fine. They stuck to the estimate except for a small charge for some additional 1x6's needed to replace those that had rotted out where had water collected on the old roof. My job was not complicated but it was done on time and on budget.

THE WORST CONTRACTOR EXPERIENCE I'VE EVER HAD! Crazy part is that I met the owner of this company through his son... so you'd think he'd go out of his way to do a great job... well here's what happened:

- Everything seemed fine and even great while we signed the contract and discussed things at first.

- BUT once the job started, I quickly noticed that they had not used the top quality materials we had discussed and actually specified in the written contract we both signed!!

- THEN, when I brought the problem to the owner's attention, he started lying to me about how it wasn't a big deal and he could fix it 'for me'... which would apparently cost him more, but he'd do it 'for me'.

- I was skeptical and asked the owner about the way he was suggesting using the additional material, ESPECIALLY since he was NOT using it as the packaging clearly recommended.. and his response was to start yelling at me about how the manufacture is an IDIOT and he's an expert with years of experience and satisfied customers. He was out of control yelling and waving his arms in my face and screaming things like: I've been doing this for years! Who are you going to believe, me, and expert roofer, or some stupid instruction manual?

- Still skeptical (about both his methods and sanity), I contacted the manufacturer of the material to ask them about his claims that he was using the material correctly. They said I was in luck, because the foremost expert in the field (who also happened to invent the material in question!) worked for them and was in the office. WHEN I SPOKE WITH THE INVENTOR/EXPERT, HE CONFIRMED THAT GARVEY ROOFING DOESN'T KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. He said that the owner was giving me incorrect information and possibly doing damage to my roof.

- When I told the owner of Garvey what the expert had said, he lost his temper, started screaming and acting irate, and would not let me speak at all. Honestly... you had to be there to believe it. He pretty much threw a tantrum and every time I opened my mouth to say something he started yelling out nonsense words like ""BA-BA-BA-BA-BA!!!!"" Then when I'd stop talking to try to ask him why he was making those noises and not letting me speak, he got quiet when I did.. then started yelling ""A-A-A-A-A-A!!!"" as soon as I started to speak again. It was RIDICULOUS.

- In the end, after LOTS of arguing, phone calls to the inventor, countless annoying conversations with the owner of Garvey, he finally admitted to ""not knowing how the material even works. He told me to go hire a subcontractor to fix the job and then we could deduct what I paid the contractor from the final bill. Obviously, I had to explain to him that since HE was the contractor, HE would need hire the SUBCONTRACTOR... not me. I already had a valid contract with him and I was not willing to change it just because he couldn't deliver what he promised.

- NOW - 2 years later, my roof looks nice on the outside, but on the inside it looks TERRIBLE.. Materials hanging everywhere, falling off the roof because they were not attached correctly... it's seriously ridiculous!

It's funny, I always thought about writing a review on yelp or something, but I've never been on this site until now. I was on for something else, remembered how terrible my experience with Garvey Roofing was and decided to look them up. No surprise that everyone else is bummed too. That why I decided to finally write all this... hopefully someone will read it and save themselves a lot of headaches and wasted money.

My advice: DO NOT HIRE GARVEY ROOFING!

I had some reoccuring roof leaks on my flat roof. I had previously called other roofing contractors who were unable to fix the problem - sometimes with the leak coming back the next time it rained after they patched the roof. I called Garvey Roofing based on their reviews and they were able to determine that the problems had to do with drainage. They performed the work and I haven't had any problems since. I highly recommend this company. They are very professional and do quality work.

Too bad we cannot give ""zero"" stars - this company deserves it. I am reminded of this fact every time it rains now. I have had to fix leaks after a new roof was ""installed"" - owner is rude, and refuses to admit guilt in the bad workmanship. Call

Garvey roofing came to our house to do a free roof inspection, after inspection the estimator, owner said we did not need a roof yet. He was very friendly and made the whole process pain free. We had a good feeling after meeting him and the inspection, seemed honest to us.
