Mike entered the field in the trade at the age of 13 when he started his career in New York as an electrician's helper. As a young man, he continued in gaining experience every chance he got, throughout weekends and summer breaks with his relative. He enjoyed the craft and creating things and cherished the environment. He continued to gain experience and develop skills, and at the age of 17, he attended a trade school for two years in Buffalo, New York to master framing, stonework, plumbing, and cabinet building.

At 18, he took a position with a roofing company called BesRoi. Around the age of 20, he was recruited by another company, Crist Contracting, which had more building tasks. After three years of experience, Mike advanced to a higher position to gain more construction experience with StockMore, where he was responsible for a siding and gutter crew.
