Mike has been involved in the trade at the age of 13 when he began his career in New York as an assistant to an electrician. As a teenager, he continued in working every chance he got, during weekends and vacations with his family member. He enjoyed the craft and creating things and cherished the natural world. He kept gain experience and learn, and at the age of 17, he attended a technical school for two years in Buffalo, New York to learn about structural framing, stonework, plumbing, and cabinet building.

At 18, he started with a roofing company called BesRoi. Around the age of 20, he was recruited by another company, Crist Contracting, which offered more construction responsibilities. After three years of experience, Mike advanced to a better position to gain more construction experience with StockMore, where he was in charge of a window vinyl siding and gutter crew.
