When I first signed up for Solar I decided to cancel my plan with Sunpower and move forward with Future. I went this route because the team that helped me 100% guaranteed their professionalism, their service, and their equipment. Of course I always do research to the best I can and so I decided to put my trust in them. Not even more than 2 years in and the system has stopped twice already not generating anything for months. Now I usually check my application but what they guaranteed was that when such a situation occurs their team will be notified so we will never run into these issues and so it can be resolved asap. Almost 2 years later though and now they blame me for not constantly looking at the application and not catching this myself on time. When I state this has been the worst customer service on top of so much more I can go on about, IT IS! I will definitely NOT be adding more panels with them in the future because they do not represent FUTURE at all! I will also NOT be recommending them to anyone after the way they have failed me as a customer. One that that truly trusted them with their services. I feel so deceived and undervalued on a system I've been paying thousands for when it should have been saving me money. However, I can't even receive any type of empathy nor reimbursement for the money I now have to pay PG&E for those months of no connection. I take back the first review I ever posted to be able to get a credit; that was a scan and wish I never wrote it without the full experience of this company.
I had a wonderful experience working with Vince from Future Energy. I found the company on the Energy Sage website.
After receiving multiple bids, I found Future Energy had the best pricing for my home Energy needs. The process was smooth and easy. The company was professional and fair. Vince made the process easy to understand and he went above and beyond in customer care, and this is why. My contract originally stated 16 panels at 400 production, but due to the supply chain issues, they were not available as soon as needed. So Vince offered me an extra panel at 380 production at no extra charge. His actions showed me his integrity and he was serious about my solar needs and showing great customer care. I highly recommend Future Energy and Vince Downey!
Paul S.Future Energy Today gave us a quote, performed a site inspection, updated their plan, but did not follow through on detailed design and installation. After 3-4 months of nagging, they finally responded that our roof could not be permitted for an install. We went with another installer who got the job done in five weeks including permitting, install, inspections and permit to operate. In the 4 months we lost, there was a solar panel shortage and prices went up by $7000!
Our saga with future energy today started in March of 2022, we have a standing seam metal roof, which not all installers are familiar with. Future energy told us they can install on it with S-5 clamps. LADBS has a letter that allows these clamps for solar installs in the city of LA. Future Energy Today were very pleasant to work with in this phase. They provided an initial quote that included the types of panels, microinverters and combiner box. They sent out a tech for a site inspection. At the site inspection, I asked about putting the combiner box on the north side of the house, even though our meter was on the south side. The salesperson indicated he needed to check with engineering but it didn't seem to be a problem. He also provided an updated layout of the system at this time. A week went by, and I asked about the progress with the engineering team. That turned to two weeks. Then longer. Then calls and emails that were not returned. Finally in July I got a hold of the salesperson. He said that they had installed a project on a standing seam metal roof recently, and it had to be removed because the inspector didn't like it. They reneged on their quote.
Once this happened, I called by our second choice installer, Cali Energy. They requoted, and installed a system and got it turned on in 5 weeks. In the intervening time, there was a solar panel shortage and inflation happened. All the quotes in the second period, went form about $22000 to $29000. We paid $7000 more than we would have because we were jerked around by Future energy today.
Future Energy installed my 15kw system. Fast response, great solutions, quality and teamwork.
With the labor and supply shortages they still get it done. Did a great job matching the conduit and the panels they used are top shelf looking and working.
Andrew P.I worked with Vince at Future Energy for my solar installation of 27 REC panels. He made the process simple and gave straightforward answers. His team was able to deliver ahead of time at most milestones and had open communication. My solar was online before 40 days granted that was probably best-case scenario the timing seemed to work out favorably. I chose this company over the larger company with more reviews as I trusted I would not just be a number and it proved correct; the larger company contract allowed them to install at any time they want and raise prices after contract if they want. Will recommend Future Energy to others.
Vu N.Got a quote through energy sage. Signed the contract, had a fully working solar system in 3 weeks! Top quality rec 400 Alpha pure black with IQ8 inverters. Initial inspection and final inspection all happened in almost the same week. All other installers had a 3 month wait.
Bill H.Vince with Future Energy was great to work with on my solar project. He was easy to work with and helped me dial in the most suitably sized system for my energy use and even recommended going down in panel count since I had my very old HVAC system recently upgraded and therefore my past energy bills were no longer valid for estimating my future power use. Vince's approach was all about sizing a reasonable system for my needs rather than trying to oversell me to mazimize a sale. The installation crew was very knowlegable and experienced with a clean install and installed the complete system with 26 REC Alpha panels and Enphase IQ8A micronverters in a single day and was very efficient coordinating inspection and getting the system energized. I had my roof replaced just before having the solar installed and the solar brackets were industry standard and were lag bolted directly into the roof rafters and tucked under the roof tiles. I personally verified in the attic that the lag bolt penetrations were directly into the rafters. We've had a few good rain events since the installation with zero leaks or issues and I have no concerns. In my experience you cannot go wrong with Future Energy.
I got a quote from Vince Downey through Energy Sage. A few issues came up. First, after we had signed the contract, he comes back to me and says that he needs to increase the price because he didn't realize they had to use galvanized conduit on my house. OK, fair enough, we negotiated a price increase.
I was replacing the roof on my house at the same time, and the roofer wanted to coordinate with Vince. Vince refused to work with the roofer at all and said he's had enough of working with roofers. He said, just have him do his job and then I'll do mine. The roofer was pointing out that once you have penetrations to the brand new roof, it invalidates the roofing material warranty, so he wanted to put the attachments on the decking below the new roofing material and do flashing around it, so that the roofing material warranty would remain intact. This seemed sensible to me.
Sadly, I will have to find another solar installer because they refused to do it.
Honestly, this bad review is less about the lack of flexiblity and willingness to work with the customer and more about Vince's attitude. At every step in the process, Vince had an attitude that he knew best and how dare the customer question him. When I asked for lower efficiency panels, he told me he wouldn't even quote it because he thought it was absurd. When I tried to coordinate a call between him and a roofer, he complained to me that the roofer was being difficult and that he didn't want to deal with him because he said he was busy on a Saturday morning golfing. Then when we organized to talk on Monday morning, when we called Vince, he didn't pick up the phone. 20 minutes later he says he'll call in 5 minutes. 15 minutes later he calls me and tells me he doesn't want to have to deal with a roofer who is texting him explanations to tell him when he's available to talk.
Vince just had a terrible attitude. I don't know if their company does a good job installing solar panels or not, but couldn't get there to figure it out because of Vince's attitude and unwillingness to be flexible or collaborate with others.
I started a request on Energysage and connected with Future Energy. They were offering top-quality panels at a killer price and, when I met Vince Downey (head of sales), I found him to be effusive, knowledgeable, and incredibly communicative over text, voice, and email. We needed to put the panels on the front of my roof, so Vince worked with me to find especially attractive panels to maintain curb appeal. He expressly didn't try to upsell me on additional things like batteries or unnecessary panels--he's honest and I'm happy I chose Future Energy.
