Five-star review grades should be rarely given. Yet, many reviewers seem to award them without explaining ""why"". In my view, this cheapens the value of a top grade. Herein, you get the ""why"" and ""how"" Fortified Roofing justified the 5-star grade it received.

On September 27th, Hurricane Helene pushed a tree onto our house. Other than tree cutting services, Fortified Roofing was the first company we called for roofing assistance. With the soffit torn and a hole in the roof, the attic was exposed to weather and water began creeping into the interior ceiling.

Five roofing companies were called for help. Fortified Roofing was the only company that responded with urgency. Within hours of the tree(s) removal, Fortified was on-site getting a temporary cover over the roof damage. The other four roofing companies we called for help could barely manage even a weak response. No one seemed interested in getting a tarp on our roof .. and one of those four companies constantly advertises on TV. Can you guess who?

Within twenty-four hours of a temporary repair, Fortified offered a bona-fide repair quote for the insurance company. The other four companies eventually inspected the damage. Of those, one never returned a quote and the other three quotes lacked sufficient details for us to negotiate with the insurance company. Yet again, Fortified stood out. Not only was their quote precise but they uncovered a small detail of EPIC importance .. and that 5/8 inch detail justified the cost of replacing the entire roof. No other company we contacted caught what Fortified identified. Furthermore, Fortified provided support documentation substantiating reasoning behind their quote; absolutely outstanding.

Choosing Fortified was a ""no brainer"". To that point, they consistently demonstrated a professional sense of urgency, timeliness and accuracy. A scant two weeks (ish) later, the house had a new roof. Just ""exceptional"" all-round performance and not to mention, a pretty new roof.

There are a couple of other things .. On both work days, they were punctual to a fault, calling before arrival. They stayed ""late"" as needed, to remain within the scope of work and their attention to site cleanliness was superb. Every effort was made to collect the smallest of scraps of old roofing with a minimum of three sweeps around the yard to collect old roofing nails. They were everywhere .. despite the massive tarps laying everywhere to protect plants and collect old roofing material.

Their outstanding performance was due in part, to OUR willingness to take the lead with the insurance company. We did not leave any ""negotiations"" to occur between Fortified and the insurance company. Objectively, this should never, ever occur but I am of the opinion that homeowners abrogate this very important responsibility to roofing companies. I strongly encourage homeowners to take the lead wherever possible and avoid this. The roofer is your agent, not your negotiator.

I received several quotes from many other companies in the area. They ranged from two to four times the quoted price from fortified roofing. Many of them, after lots of back and forth, would come down on price. Some of them would even either come close or match the quote. But, why haggle?! The fact that fortified roofing had the price that all the other companies were actually able, in the end, to meet speaks to questionable practices on their behalf. Fortified roofing didn't have to haggle, they simply had the best price from the beginning.

They did the work quickly, answered all my questions, and were able to provide evidence that the work was done as agreed to.
