A few years ago, I had a leak in my roof with water coming through the laundry room ceiling, and initially called the contractor who had installed it to get an estimate for repairs. The estimate seemed high and the scope of work seemed deliberately narrow - I was told that the dryer vent needed to be replaced and that there was ""no way to know for sure"" if that would actually stop the leak. So, I would need to keep an eye on things when it rained and call them back out if the leak persisted. Even though the company had a decent reputation, the rep seemed to be less than trustworthy, to be polite.
I found Floyd Heggie Roofing on Yelp and decided to give him a call. I was immediately impressed! After his inspection of the leak inside and the roof, his opinion was that the dryer vent did not need to be replaced, rather the area around it needed to be sealed. As water can obviously do lots of traveling before finally leaking through, he could not say 100% for certain that the dryer vent area was the culprit, although it seemed likely. There were a few other vents in the general area, and his recommendation was to go ahead and seal all of those as well, on the off chance that the dryer vent wasn't the problem. His estimate was very reasonable (less than the other company, even excluding the unnecessary new vent) and the recommended work eliminated the problem, instead of potentially setting me up for repeated service calls.

When I recently purchased a new home, the inspection uncovered a few roof related items. The seller said they could not find anyone to do the repairs, possibly due to the steep pitch, but I knew exactly who to call. Once again, Floyd came through and installed a new fresh air vent for the fireplace and a new dryer vent, as well as taking a good look at the roof overall. Floyd takes excellent care of his customers and it is evident that he takes pride in his work. I have already recommended him to several friends and will continue to do so.

Floyd did great work for me. We were having problems with squirrels making holes in the roof eaves and getting into attic of my two story home. The roof is very steep and I did not feel comfortable getting on the roof. Floyd had no problems with the roof slope. He fixed 4 holes and replaced the flashing around the chimney. He is an honest man who stood by his initial quote (reasonable price) though he had to do extra work once he got on the roof and got a better look at the damage. He is a sole proprietor looking to honest work without ripping people off. He also clean up after his work. Highly recommend.

We had spaces on our tile roof where critters were getting into our attic. I called Floyd Haggie to get an estimate for what would be necessary to fix the problem. Floyd promptly came to the house to survey the situation, and after discussing it a bit, advised it would be difficult, time-consuming and expensive to remove necessary tiles to scale the steep and fragile roof and repair the openings. He suggested instead we deal with it from the interior and use pest control in the attic on a regular and ongoing basis. So while I didn't end up using him for this particular job, I appreciated his professionalism and honesty and would definitely use him for any roofing work I might have in the future.
