We thoroughly educate you, showing why solar stands as the premier home enhancement and investment option! Adhering to the Department of Energy recommendations, we focus on decreasing your energy usage with innovative, efficient products before alleviating those costs with solar. This markedly increases your comfort and enhances your ROI.
Our foundation in the Jacksonville roofing industry is strong, backed by more than 12 years of experience.
We had occasional interactions with solar energy, but were later approached by installers with over 10 years of solar installation experience to combine our efforts. This partnership enhances our business approach and seeks to provide a much better service than we previously encountered in the industry.
We noticed that both industries were having difficulty providing the quality service customers desired in roofing, solar installations, and financial savings. We perceive an opportunity to enhance our reputation, build relationships, and expand our family (You) in a responsible and effective way.
Logan Henderson started an energy and solar consulting venture during his transition from 8 years of honorable service in the U.S. Navy. He fell in love with the notion, beliefs, and benefits of solar energy, becoming a solar homeowner in the process. This path provided him with a way to keep serving his country and community by educating others about energy and solar to save money and support the environment. Since then, he has collaborated with a top roofing company, teaming up with the second-ranked in the state for solar installations to deliver the finest in both industries concerning pricing, installations, products, and warranties.

Recommended Customer Reviews

So, here's my experience with Florida Roof Specialists. My experience may be unique so you read and decide.
First, the good.
The roof looks amazing and functions as a roof should. The sales people were incredibly respectful and answered questions on the claims process with my insurance company. One of my sales points of contact even coordinated the gutter contractor to remove and reset my gutters.
Now the bad.
The sales people are just that, sales people. They help you get your claim submitted, have you sign the contract, help you select your roof color, but that's where their ""lane"" seems to abruptly end. There was no hand-off to a new point of contact once the permitting process started. I continued to contact my sales people, who were as helpful as they could be but in hindsight, weren't the ones I should be contacting. My recommendation is to ask who your point of contact will be after you have completed the claim, received the claim check from your insurance company, and select your roof color.
The gutter contractor for my job quoted me $2400 to simply remove and reinstall my own gutters. I'm not a contractor, but this seems rather inflated. My recommendation is to shop around for gutter contractors.
The required filing of a Notice of Commencement with the Flagler County Clerk of Court was required prior to pulling the roof permit. This was filed on Aug 8th. When I inquired about the permit not being pulled yet on Aug 22nd, I was informed the Notice of Commencement had not been received. I personally went to the Clerk of Court and obtained a certified copy of the Notice of Commencement filing and handed this to my contractor. Had I not inquired, I do not know how long this inaction would have persisted. My recommendation is to keep tabs on the permitting process and make sure you have a point of contact that handles permitting. Make sure you understand your individual municipality (City AND County) requirements for your roof permit unless you are comfortable allowing the process to linger.
.
Finally, the ugly.
During roof installation, at approximately 3PM on install day 2, I discovered 3 empty Modelo beer cans in my yard, indicating the roof installers were drinking while installing my roof. At this point I had a few points of contact regarding the roof installation. I reached out to all of them and was simply told this would be dealt with. I asked for someone to come to my site and address this, but no one showed. The roofing crew departed at approximately 6:30PM. This company uses their own roofing crews and does not subcontract. I felt this incident was serious enough to warrant a next level of management to arrive at my job site, but no one showed. Oh, and just to be clear, my sales person lives 3 doors down from me on my street, but this was not his lane and he even stated this in a text.
At the completion of the job, I received an invoice for $8,762 in supplements, bringing the entire job cost to $29,811 plus the extra $2,400 for the gutter removal and reset. Florida Roof Specialists says they are submitting the supplemental claim to the insurance company but I seriously doubt my insurance will pay this without legal intervention. I ended up paying out of pocket so that a lien would not be placed against my property and I could sell it. This was a simple tear off and Architectural Shingle re-roof of an approximately 2400 square foot house. I'm not a roofing contractor but this seems quite inflated. My recommendation is to shop around and get multiple quotes. Do this BEFORE you contact your insurance company.
So, in closing, my review of Florida Roof Specialists is neutral. My recommendation is to submit your claim to the insurance company on your own and shop around. Yes, the roof looks great but there are lots of contractors that can install a beautiful roof. The difference in roofing companies comes down to service and reputation. Yes, my experience with the installation crew drinking on the site may be unique, but the company's response was lacking in my opinion.

The finished roof is beautiful and passed inspection. The crew was polite and picked up their own trash. That much we appreciate.
However, I am giving them only three stars for the following reasons: At the end of the job when the metal rake was being used to pick up nails, one of the crew members walked through the garden in front of the living room window with no regard for the plants that were there, and several were trampled. The area is only three feet deep and could have easily been raked without walking into it.
A blower was used to clear the roof of nails when they were done; however, I noticed several that did not get blown off. Pieces of wood and tar paper were left in the yard, and we have picked up close to 40 roofing nails from the front, side and back of the house. One nail still through a piece of tar paper was discovered in the middle of the yard when a box was set down on it. Two more were discovered when they pierced the sole of my shoe.
My sister was on-site for the entire job. She advised me that the crew was very careful placing nails prior to the inspector's visit. After the inspector left, even though the tiles looked appropriately placed, care using the nail gun seemed haphazard in comparison. John mentioned that the crew members were eager to finish the job, as they were driving home that night and not staying over. That is not an excuse to give less care to the post inspection work, or to the clean-up.
The crew used our furnace vent cap as a tool holder, continuing to do so after the top plate was bent and portions of the lip broke. I was reimbursed $50, although that amount is not near enough to cover the cost of a replacement for that particular style.
Some of the shingles were buckled. When I asked about that, I was told that they would flatten out. They haven't.

They haven't completed my solar install yet after completing the actual work in December 2020. It is now June 2021 almost July, that is a very long time to wait while they failed to send monthly checks to offset my energy bills since my solar panels aren't working.
I've called and called with very limited responses. I liked working with their team until they became MIA.
They aren't ready to do work in the Orlando Area for roofs or solar.

Looks great, installed in 2 days, and operational just a week later, all while under the COVID-19 lockdown and with the city inspectors at limited capacity.
Logan is clearly energized by solar and knows how to make it all work. He engaged the city, technicians, and even a ceiling repair person. He has a contact list that will help you get your results faster than with anyone else. A project manager that can ""make a call"" is what you want.
The visual look of the panels are great, orientated nicely with the roof lines. Not that the form should take priority over function, but cosmetics dont hurt. Through the lens of a non electrician, I think the wiring of the system to the house looks professional and sustainable.
I quoted out several solar solutions. I quickly discovered I could get the Cadillac model with bells and whistles that I didn't know existed or a basic Civic model where either options will get you there--to use a car analogy. It seems the key factors between the high and low end systems are the degradation factors and conversion efficiencies. From my solar-naive review, the added cost of the top-end systems (double$$) are just not worth the minor gains. The scale of the gains-to-cost of the top end is simply not worth it unless you just have to have those fractional percentages. Plus all systems come with a 20+ year warranty and are smart house enabled.
Florida Roof and Solar's solution is a well balanced system of performance and cost, plus they are able to provide whole house efficiency improvements. Their system is not just middle tier, their panels are within a fractional percentage of any top tier panel on market that I could find, and in some cases were half the cost. I was able to find 2 quotes that were less than Florida Roof and Solar, but what sold me was their ability to add in additional efficiency such as installing a new AC, hotwater heater (a pseudo garage AC) and my favorite, an attic exhaust fan. The convenience of 1 general contractor delivering my roof, AC, Hotwater heater and Solar, plus at market average or better cost, I was sold. If they only also did Windows. They also provided several smart switches and an Alexa...WARNING, the smart enabled devices can become addictive and lead to thoughts of whole house smart device upgrades :)
Local Jacksonville company providing a great service. Highly recommend Florida Roof and Solar to be your solar provider.

Florida Roof and Solar. They are STELLAR. Logan Henderson is the most squared away person I have had in charge of getting anything done at my house.
Roof crew worked like they knew each other's movements like clockwork and hardly even had to talk they were so in sync with each other. Enphase lead installation expert has years of experience from California, and definitely knew all details and angles. Only thing I would say is that I was one of first homes their electrical subtractor was part of, and that gentleman needed to get up to speed. Logan got him more up to date with level of excellence expected, and it all got resolved. They worked with me on my out of town schedule, and all went well with inspections. Highly recommend.

Met Mark- discussed everything including solar. :) Logan kept me in the loop via email during every step of the process once I looked over the information and make a decision for my family here and in the future. The team was professional when they were hear to install.... answered any and all questions. Loved the fact that both Logan and Mark were able to make an appearance during the process..... (not far removed from the hands on)
