We used Ewell for a water test last year and were really disappointed with the work done. At the end of the day, these guys completely don't pinpoint every leak and completely overdo it on recommendations for repair.

When a 1x1 patch of my roof has a leak, I don't expect a recommendation to redo 30 square feet on my roof. Additionally, these guys claimed I had flashing leaking left and right, recommending thousands in repairs. When the workers were here actually doing the tests, they were not able to point out one place the flashing was failing. So, again, to see thousands of dollars in redoing flashing is total BS.

The report took them two weeks to produce after the testing was done, which calls in to question how fresh the work was on their minds. Further it took about 6 emails to get the report out of them. This report was less of a report and more of a bid for doing a bunch of work and should have been returned within a day or two.

When I talked to the owner, Ewell, the attitude was, ""Well all this work is necessary to guarantee no leaks"". The problem with that attitude is an entire new roof could give me that guarantee. The whole point of hiring them to do a water test is to pinpoint EXACT locations failing and fix those. Not scratch their heads and bid excessive amounts of work.

In 2 of the 5 locations the recommended doing over 15K of work, I used caulking and Henry's patch and didn't have a single leak come back over Winter. If all I had to do was spend $20 in materials and take 3 hours of time every other year, I'd gladly go that route over 15K for BS work.

I booked an appointment for 11/21 for an estimate. The guy came out and after looking around and taking measurements my husband was told they would email the quote. Here we are 2 weeks later and still no quote has been received. I did not bother to call and question as I'd rather not waste my time if the company cannot keep their word.

Darrell and Ana have been amazing during our recent water leaks, as well as Jaime who has been at our home several times. In the middle of a storm, Ewell offered to put a tarp on our roof which was avoided unquantifiable additional damage to the already wet interior of our home. The team at Ewell, headed by Darrell Ewell, was efficient and effective in finding the sources of water leaks in our condominium building and competed the repairs with great expertise. The technicians were always on time, knew exactly what to do and how to do it, and worked feverishly on a daily basis to resolve our problems. They discovered some serious problems with our building and guided us through the needed repairs. Every technician was courteous and their work ethic is unsurpassed. Their prices were very fair. We certainly would recommend Ewell Construction as contractors for any major jobs.

I was very pleased with these folks. During the recent heavy rains I had a leaky roof. No other company in the area could come out to even inspect the roof for at least a week, except two. The first local company wanted a minimum of $1000 to inspect the roof and do emergency measures (like tarp the area). The other company was Ewell. They came out the very next day. The guy was so helpful. Did an inspection and outlined what needed to be fixed and put down tarp and putty to stop the leaking until a permanent fix could be done. The total bill for this was only $200. I definitely recommend these folks!

I wouldn't hire Ewell Construction if you're looking for a company willing to stand behind their work, especially in the area of waterproofing & window replacement. As a result, I am stuck with having to pay for the work to be done all over again, not to mention having to pay for the walls and hardwood floors that have been ruined as a result of the work not being done right the first time around.

Our deck leaked after 25 years and a couple repair attempts, so we decided we needed a ""leak expert"". Ewell Construction was recommended by Renewal by Andersen, whom we had been satisfied with on other work, so we called Darrell Ewell. He came out promptly, had his crew conduct a very thorough water test for a fair price, and gave us a bid for recommended repairs. We ended up replacing the deck tile with Tufflex, replacing the railings and some of the siding, and doing some caulking and repairs on nearby wall siding.

After dealing with less professional contractors, we were unaccustomed to the pricing, but after the work was done we realized that we received very fair value for what we paid; the work was excellent, the crew was professional, courteous, and clean and Darrell monitored the progress every step of the way. Ana in the office was very responsive and helpful. We were so happy with the work that we then engaged Darrell and his crew to tile our master bath floor. Again, they did an excellent job. We are used to finding issues that need to be resolved after work is done, or at least smaller issues that we decide not to contest. With Ewell, there were no issues of any kind. Everything was perfect.

We will definitely call Darrell anytime we need work done around the house. It is so nice to just know it will be done right for a fair price.

I'm usually uneasy having work done in my house but Darrell made it a super experience with a great result. I love my new bathroom tile and fixtures and my new roof. So great to have a one stop shop I can trust!

I have used Ewell Construction for almost 10 years for a number of major projects involving property we own on the Strand in Manhattan Beach, which is subject to the corrosive ocean environment. We have found the company and its owner, Darryl Ewell, to be extremely responsive and to have provided high quality work in weatherproofing the building, completely rebuilding a large balcony, replacing parapet coping on the roof, installing a significant number of sliding glass doors and windows, and doing extensive mold remediation repairs both inside and outside the building.

In all of the work, large or small, Ewell Construction has stood behind their work. For example, one project involved replacing corroded galvanized coping on all of the parapet walls surrounding the roof with stainless steel coping. Ewell's bid was competitive with other bids. After the coping was installed, a minor question arose concerning the stainless steel provided by the manufacturer. Ewell Construction immediately, and without question, offered to install much more expensive copper coping over the stainless steel coping at no additional charge. We now have two layers of substantial coping of the highest grade.

Other projects were larger and on every occasion we were satisfied with the quality of the work, the timeliness of completion, and the responsiveness of the company. When a project is scheduled it starts on time and is completed as promised.

Even when a new issue unrelated to previous work comes up, the owner promptly goes to the property and reports back no matter what the size of the issue. We have found the owner to be straightforward, honest, and extremely qualified.

I have no reservations about highly recommending Ewell Construction.
