Had a consultation scheduled. Thought it was in person but turned out to be a phone consultation. Spoke to Joshua Grande. He asked if I had any knowledge or experience with solar and I responded with having gotten quotes from several companies over the previous four years. He asked why I had not moved forward with any of the companies and I said that despite the government subsidies, every quote was higher and higher and it felt unreasonable. He said it would be more expensive year after year. (Might be but I never told him any of the quoted prices). I asked him several times to take the data I had submitted and send me the quote. I have appointments with four solar companies today. I'll compare them. He hung up on me. A company that can't compete among several solar companies with whom I'm consulting shouldn't be in business.

Doesn't deserve a star. No solar for a month now. Numerous phone calls and messages to them. Answered once. Said they would be there 9/8 at 1:30. Never showed up or called. I called at 5:00. Left a message. Still no reply. Maybe now will attempt legal action. PUNTA GORDA , FLORIDA

This is an interim review will post a final review if/when work i s complete. Signed a conract with ESD Solar the last week in December 2022. ESD Solar did not submot materials required for HOA approval in time for January board review so review was postponed. ESD solar kep contacting me t work with the HOA even though that work was to be compelted by ESD. Now the middle of March 2013 and no install scheduled yet. When attempting to contact ESD solar to have them schedule an install, the Customer Service number rings a few times and then disconnects. The sales person has left the company and nobody identified to replace him as the contact wit ESD Solar. If no postive action taken n the part of ESD Solar by the end of March 2023 I will start a legal proceeding to cancel the contract.

Trust the Bad Reviews: Be Prepared to Wait
If you're reading this review, I recommend you find someone you know with solar and ask them for a local referral in your county. I wouldn't believe any positive review about this company based upon their work for me.
I started looking for companies a year ago. I signed contract with ESD on 3/28/22. Over 2 weeks later a tech came out and walked on my roof; didn't take measurements and left. A day later I get an updated contract with less panels because he thought they couldn't get them all on. 3 weeks later they submitted permit which was approved in 2 weeks. Another month until the panels were installed. I looked at the roof after the installers were done and they ground down to asphalt a huge amount of shingles. Electrician was scheduled to come out 1 month later to connect panels to breaker, but the week before ESD called me to say they needed to resubmit plans based upon the change back in April, but waited till then to do so. 2 weeks later the Permit was issued and another month passed before the electrician showed up to connect. Oh, but we're still not done. Electrician left the solar on when he left. The Electric Company told me that since i had an old meter, I was paying them for all the solar that was collecting since the old meter couldn't tell difference between usage or collection. Thanks ESD; now i'm paying for the solar energy that i'm collecting too. Another month and i get a new meter thanks to my Solar Company checking on me. Electrical Inspection failed because the plans didn't match the install, so waiting for another month due to ESD incompetence; then permit approved in 4 days. ESD waited a whole month to schedule the inspection again (for no possible reason). Once approved (after 8 months), they submitted paperwork to my Energy Company which was denied because their designs were wrong to the installed system. (Seeing a pattern here?). ESD wanted to schedule a tech to come out 2 weeks later to take a picture (yes, really), I said i will take the picture and sent it to them. Then ESD said they needed to update a diagram because it was wrong to the installed hardware; another 2 weeks turnaround. Finally I helped push this to conclusion and after nearly 9 months i'm producing solar. (Oh, but i'm not done yet) I get a call asking to schedule for next week for someone to come map my panels to the online Enphase system. This entailed dismounting every solar panel again to check each serial number. I told them that the installers mapped it and took the mapping with them; After getting the run around they said they were no longer working with that company and didn't have the mapping. Fortunately I had taken a picture of it and sent to them. Still no mapping. Two weeks later they called to say they were sending someone out to connect the system to Enphase. The guy they sent had license plates from half way across the country, was nice, but spoke NO ENGLISH and spent 4 hours trying to connect it to Enphase; on the phone with Enphase tech support the whole time. It appeared I was his first ever connection. Everything's working for now.
Contract states they will accomplish in 3 months (120 days), but took almost 9 months so far; Time outside their control was 40 days in permitting because they had to update the plans 3 times due to their errors.
I was a rather proactive person here, calling and emailing them throughout this process. I have a long list of names and phone numbers of people i interacted with. They were all just following their little piece of the job and NO ONE follows these through to completion. They do their little piece, submit a ticket to their team, then wait 2 weeks, and do it again.
Save yourself the trouble and find someone else!

I would rate this company an absolute 0. AlexRick was my sales person and as soon as installation was completed he would no longer answer my calls, texts or emails. I trusted him to be telling me the truth. My first month bill with the new solar system was $87. No a/c no heat. Windows open. So that is what my bill would have been without solar. Oh they offered to review it and get back to me but nothing! I went to file my taxes to get a total of 51% back from federal(26%) and sc state(25%) and because I am retired and have only ss as income I am not eligible fir any such rebate. This company knew that as I went over it over and over. I can now not afford to pay a $37,000 loan that I had planned to knock in half with rebates from government. Not happening. They lied throughout the entire process. My basic bill should be $12 a month and it's not happening. Do not trust these people they will lead you in a terrible direction. And not answer your calls after you are installed. Is this the type of world we live in now. My only option is to die because supposedly they are paid for upon my death. I'll bet you they will figure a way out of that agreement as well. RIP

I'm really sad to be leaving a review like this. I was thorough in my research of which company we wanted to partner with for our home solar. We moved forward in May of 2020. They ""activated"" our solar in August. Since then, we've had problems with our arrays and I've had technicians out to my house no fewer than five times. They keep saying it's fixed, but each time, a few hours later, I can see that it's not. More than half of our panels are effectively non-functional. It's about to be November, a solid 3 months that they can't figure it out.

It's truly frustrating to have this experience, but what makes it worse is that the office staff is consistently rude when I request calls from a manager. They also don't respond to submissions on the contact form on the website, which means I'm stuck. I wanted to use a local Florida company, but sadly, I cannot recommend ESD for any solar project.

I had a solar system installed in December 2019 until January 2020. There were paperwork issues because I have 2 separate systems on the same property, that was eventually corrected. What has not been corrected is that my electric bill has been getting higher every month since the installation. At first the company sent me checks to cover the loan payment under the guise they were working out problems. I have not received any more payments since April 2020 and the bills are still staying high. I expected the problems to be resolved but now the company is ignoring me totally, not returning calls and emails. I bought this system because I was told I would have a much lower bill, that has not happened. I am a senior that is a US Navy veteran who feels like I was ripped off. I am considering going to the Florida Attorney General, $30K is a lot to lose!

I don't know which is worse, the company's customer service or the skill level of their technicians. We have had numerous service calls due to installation issues, including 20% of the panels not working for the first 6 months and now we are having roof and ceiling damage due to water leaking in where the panels were apparently not tightened down appropriately. The last service technician was only able to inspect the area around the leak that we reported and claimed that we have to complete an additional service call to have them inspect the remainder of the system, though he says the problem is likely on all of the panels. He also noted that the caulk that was used was the wrong kind and is already starting to peel away, which is likely contributing to the leak.

My electric bill used to be on average $250.00 per month. They said I would get 30% from the government towards my loan amount. They didn't tell us it was based on your tax bracket and what it is unfortunately is a tax credit for 2020 so of I owe taxes for the next 5 years I'm covered. But what they didn't tell me is that my loan payment is $248 a month for the next 1.5 years and then it goes up to $355 a month for the rest of the 20 year loan plus $39 from the electric co. from the beginning a bill if I don't generate enough energy and a rider on my insurance that costs $120 a year. So come 2021 I will be paying $355 for the loan $39 to the electric co. and $120 a year for the insurance and any bill if I don't generate enough energy. So roughly in a good month I will pay $400 to go solar. To end this story if I knew that from the beginning I would have said no, I mean who would agree to pay $400 when they are paying $250. I guess I would based on the lies I was told.

I'm so please with how fast and reliable Energy Solutions Direct was. The 7man install crew installed over 36 panels in just a couple of hours. They cleaned up after themselves, were courteous of my napping children, taught me how to use the app to check how much I was producing, and even made sure the system was up and running before they took off. I shopped around and then decided not to do it thinking it was going to be a long and complicated processes and it was actually the easiest thing I did all year!
Thank you guys for helping me eliminate my electric bill.
