My experience with Epic roofing and Mr. Lynn Sutton Jr. began in late August 2019. He came out to access water damage in my son's room. He then sent out one of his worker's to repair a leak coming from around the chimney. He also removed 4 brackets that were left by a previous removal of a satellite disk in which I was charged $150 per bracket. This is the description of the itemized charges of the invoice he sent to me after my request in September. After several weeks of requesting, I received an invoice:
Removed & Sealed (4) Holes @$150 each on the Roof caused by the Satellite Disk. - $600
Sealed the back of the Chimney known as the cricket that was leaking and sealed the corner boards of the chimney. -$775
In November, an additional leak was noticed and I contacted Mr. Sutton again to address it. He sent the same guy over who claimed it was coming from somewhere else. I decided to get a 2nd opinion and this company assessed that the leak was still coming from the initial area of the chimney that Mr. Sutton's company should have initially repaired but was not repaired correctly. The 2nd company actually removed and replaced the damaged wood, replaced shingles, and repainted and repaired in the proper manner it should have been in the first place. Mr. Sutton tried to send some guys over to repaint the ceiling and walls that have water stains and plaster coming from the ceiling to repair from the 2nd leak. I asked if they would check for moisture inside of the wall and ceiling with a moisture reader where the stains are and he said yes. When they arrived, they did not have the moisture reader and went straight to trying to paint over the stains and repair the damage from the second leak. Moisture causes mold if not dried and this was not their concern. They left to go pick up the moisture reader from Mr. Sutton and came back to check saying that the areas were dry. He wanted these guys to repair the damage in lieu of refunding the $775. I didn't trust their judgment at that point and told them that I will have someone else to check it. I had another company check a few days later and his reader indicated that there was still moisture in the ceiling and wall. If the initial repair by Mr. Sutton's contractor would have been fixed correctly, the second leak would have never happened. I have contacted Mr. Sutton on several occasions by phone and text to request some funds for refund for the chimney work. Initially, I didn't have the itemized charges before paying but will definitely be getting them from now on. After more attempts to request refunds or something to be done without receiving any response from Mr. Sutton, he finally picked up on one of my calls and stated that he would come and see me. He was a no show and then on another contact with him, he stated that he would call or bring me a refund on a certain day but did not. On another occasion, he calls and ask me if I had put anything negative out on nextdoor.com or the internet about him and says he will give me the $775 back if I write a letter stating that I will not give a negative review of him and sign it. Of course I refused and told him that feels like blackmail. Some more time passed and he finally responded saying that he would give my $775 back but not the $600 for removing the brackets since they did do some work. I agreed on the $775 since it's going to cost over $1000 to repair the damage and get the moisture in the ceiling dried out from the 2nd leak. (I have 2 estimates from other companies) I asked him to send me the refund through Paypal or CashApp. He wasn't able to send me the money on the day he initially stated. The next date he gave (01/18/20), he finally texted that evening and only sent $700 through CashApp. I texted back asking about the $775. Then he sends the other $75. Yes, I tried making a long story short. From November 17th to Jan 18th. Two months to get my money back from a horrible repair job. I would NEVER refer him to anyone!

I recommend Mr. Sutton and Epic Roofing for a job well done. I had a shingle loose and a friends referred Mr. Sutton. He inspected the total roof and found several other items on the back that I would not have seen, but needed repair. Hey y'all!

Now, I have always preached that we should do our best to support our local businesses and I recently had an experience working with one that I feel went above and beyond and I'd like to share it with our community.

After some recent storms here in Stone Mountain, I noticed a few damp spots on my interior ceilings. Being we had only moved here a year ago and I had never been on my roof, I wanted someone to come give me a rundown of the damage.
