Angela T.WEll, it was time for a new roof on my home; single woman and all that, so obviously I'm not getting on the roof to do work. Called Ed, he came out, gave me a bid and I'm so glad I went ahead with it. Now, I don't have to worry about my insurance company getting pithy about the age/condition of my roof, or leaks, or a deferred maintenance issue. Roof looks wonderful, he took care of some dry rot issues which I knew needed tending. I'm all set for at least the next 25 years!

Hired El Doado Roofing for a simple re roof of the flat roof over our garage. I got 3 other bids and decided to go with them because they had the most affordable bid of $5800. We knew there was some dry rot of the underlining plywood boards that needed to be repaired, so I expected there to be some extra work/charge. In their contract, if there is any repair work that is needed, that exceeds 50% of the original bid, they are required to take photos and write a change clause to the original contract. This is so that such extra repair work and materials can be pre authorized by the customer.
They violated their own contract by doing no such thing. I
Instead, I got a final bill of $9200, showing the extra repair work total OVER 50% of the original bid with absolutely no notification or pre authorization. When asked if they took before and after photos of the damage as stated in their contract, the said no. And the reason was ""because I was at home the whole time during the job. I saw what damage needed to be fixed.""
Excuse me? Not ever did any of the workers pull me out to the job, show me the damage, and show or tell me what they were planning to do. I am not a roofer, I am a stay at home mom, I have no idea what needs to be done or the cost.
Needless to say, I got my lawyer involved, the owner Ed refused to negotiate, and said if we didn't pay, he would take us in small claims court.
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY, THEY WILL BID LOW AND THEN SCREW YOU OUT OF THOUSANDS MORE.
This was not a 10,000 job. I would have never went with this company if I had known THEY WERE GOING TO CHEAT HARD WORKING FAMILIES OUT OF THOUSANDS OF DOLARS.
