Had complete roof replacement (both torch down and tile areas) a couple years ago. The installation was plagued by numerous problems and leaks including major damage to the original coved plaster ceiling in my dining room which I had to pay myself to replace. They did not do what they were contracted to do. For example they were contracted to replace scuppers but did not. In one case they put a smaller well undersized scupper inside the existing scupper that caused a major leak. It was fixed with caulking and continues to leak today in any big rain. They nailed the barrel tiles directly through the tar paper underlayment with a dab of caulk on the nail instead of nailing into battens! The torch down roof was lumpy and captured standing water. After numerous callbacks for leaks there was roof patch all over my new roof.....it looked worse than when we started. Now with the big rains this season the leaks are unbearable and the cost of damage repair continues. More drywall repair in the family room awaiting attention. We have been forced to pay another roof to start tearing out and redoing the work. I don't mean repair, I mean tear out and start over because the problems stem with the underlayment and flashing and scuppers and drains and sheet overlap and proper heating of the seams. These guys are incompetent and do not stand behind their work. Any warranty is useless. Don't let a renaming from El Cajon Roofing to ECR trick you. They can't outrun their horrible reputation. Look elsewhere for a roofer. Trust me.

Very disappointed by the end of our services. Got a total total roof replacement. The quality of the roof replacement I cannot say I am no expert. There were a few other things that went wrong though. Roofers left a mess when they were finished (staples, building materials) and during construction I had to ask them multiple times to pick up there trash. They would leave empty plastic water bottles all over the property. They would eat lunch and leave their scraps I found a half eaten burrito on the ground. We have 2 skylights and one of them we paid to replace. They did the replacement but put a weird looking ""frame"" under it and it just looks terrible. The second skylight they broke it while doing the roof construction and they refuse to replace it for free saying that ""it was old and brittle anyways"" even though it was perfectly fine before construction. The roof leaked a few weeks after they were done, I had water coming in and running down some drywall. Also, we paid in full and the company probably paid their outsourced labor/ materials late and a lien was put on our property too. I've contacted them multiple times about replacing the skylight they broke I was even willing to pay. And never heard back.

I had been trying for almost 2 years to find a roofer that wouldn't ghost me... I found a few, enough to give me enough quotes to compare. Of those, only 3 listened to my concerns of wood rot and damaged rafters, the others ignored my concerns and you could tell by their quotes. I chose el cajon roofing. Their paperwork says, they start between 8 and 8:30 and they'll clean up daily.
Day 1... on time and area cleaned up.
Day 2.... 8, 8:30, 9, 9:30 goes by and no workers.... no notice, no calls to say anything was wrong or why they were late. I called the office only to be told that the guys had been told to do clean up elsewhere and they'd be coming later. Why no one thought that it would be important to call the customer (me) is beyond poor customer service. Day 2 ended late and when I went out to move my car back into my driveway, I noticed nails, lots of nails, I had a hand full of nails by the time I finished cleaning up my driveway. Thankfully I didn't end up with a flat tire.
Day 3, a different ""foreman"" came and way under estimated the amount of rafter tails and plywood would be needed, the original ""foreman"" came by later and recognized that there wasn't going to be enough supplies to do the job correctly. He and I talked to discuss this, I told him the other foreman just mentioned numbers to me. I told him that I wanted the job done right not half assed, he talked to his supervisor and corrected the amount of wood needed. I also showed him the hand full of nails they left me from the day before and he made sure to do a much better clean up this day and the following days.
After they were ""finished"", I saw some issues, took some pictures and one of the guys came out to see the issues. A broken vent cover, fascia that wasn't flush to to the house, nails not completely nailed in, nails not nailed to anything and fascia that wasn't flush or in line with the next piece and was cracked. I told him my handyman was coming to prime and paint the fascia and eaves the next week. He said he'd probably be the one doing the fixes...hmmm, ok... but did he??? No. Did he call to say when he'd do the fixes...No. I didn't get any calls, not one until I called them about it.
Today, Ryan was supposed to come by with the vent cover around 9ish, instead he calls to say it'll be later this afternoon, it's now 7:10 pm and he still hasn't shown up.... that's el cajon roofing in a nutshell - Customer service is not a concern.

This company says on their contract that they are licensed in the state of CA, # C39 331645. They have a suspended license. I canceled my contract and asked for a refund of 10%, $2,079, which I paid at the time of signing the contract. However; they never started work, nor was work scheduled. Contract signed 4/1/22, canceled 4/30/22. They will not answer any of my emails, letters, or phone calls requesting the return of my deposit.
The contract does not say anything about forfeiting deposits.

DO NOT USE THEM! They redid the roof and did that ok but they messed up the solar panel reinstall. 1st they said the parts they needed had to be ordered. Ok, that's fine. But then they didn't show up at the appointment date and then did the install wrong later and we had to call Tesla to come out to diagnose because we didn't get any power, then they sent someone to fix it, and then we still had to get Tesla to come out to fix their work. All in all, the entire job took 7 months and we lost out on 7 months of power generation and cost us a lot of money. Then to top it off, they didn't take any liability for their mistakes and delays. DO NOT USE THEM! LISTEN TO THE BAD REVIEWS. THEIR LOWER PRICES ARE NOT WORTH IT!!! WE WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

John and his crew did a great job on fixing the leak in my roof the very next day after calling him. Then he came back and fixed some other random tiles that needed to be replaced. He's responsible, on time, and talented! I would recommend this company to anybody looking to get their roof repaired.

As others have stated, stay away from this roofing company!! They originally came out 2 years ago when we bought our house, the home inspector recommended I have the attic checked out because the roof joist construction looked questionable. Our realtor recommended El Cajon Roofing (not any more), So, one of their guys checked out my attic, he concluded the attic had a ""workmanlike"" construction but that it was fine. Although he did say my roll roof section was past its life expectancy and gave us a quote of 6500.00 to replace 1000 sq ft area. I just had me knees replaced so I was unable to check out the condition myself. (After reading some of the other reviews I question if it needed to be done now) They commenced work and one work day I heard a LOUD thud and CRACK unable to get up because of my surgery to see what happened, work just continued. Months later when I was able to get on a ladder, I went into my attic only to find a section of plywood and a roof joist had broken during the loud thud
and crack. Astonishingly they did not fess up when it happened. They came out and cut a hole in my roof to make the repairs. Months later I was replacing a closet door in the room just under where the repair was made, when I removed the top track on the door, I noticed the drywall was soft and mold was present. The next time it rained I looked in the attic to find it leaking! It had been leaking from the day it was installed, it was not torched to the flashing properly (and that was confirmed by their best torch guy Miguel) After multiple failed attempts to correct the problem (I had to miss work twice positioning buckets in my attic to catch all the rain water coming in) as you can see in photo 1. The asphalt roll roof was the first install (photo 4) with all the attempts to stop the leaks, the other photos are of the white material and the questionable workmanship. I had asked the owner to do a job walk several times but I have been completely ignored. I am still not sure of how much water damage I have in my attic. They even took my nice push broom.

Matt and his team at El Cajon Roofing did some repair work to the house we bought for the seller. In this week's rainstorm, I discovered a small leak in our flat roof garage. I emailed Matt at 6:00AM, reminded him of who I was and asked if he could come out sometime this week, thinking ""it's raining, he's got to be slammed."" Before 7:00AM I had a response and a few emails later I had a roofer on my roof by 9:00AM that morning. I was stunned and amazed at his response time and willingness to resolve the issue so quickly. I'm a professional REALTOR and most of my tradesmen take at least 24-48 hours. I truly appreciate Matt and his crew. They were nice, professional and fixed my leak!

Roofing job was not completed. The flashing was not installed around the roof edge so I have roofing material flapping in the wind. I have been told by Mark that the material is in and they will be over by the end of the week. The week goes by and no one shows up. I am not happy with their service.

Dishonest representative inspected my roof recommending $12,000 in repairs and almost caused us to loose a sale and a purchase in the process. When evaluated by another roofer, actual needs were about $1000. How do you live with your self fabricating work to make money or help an agent get a reduction in sale price. Unfair practice and dishonest
