Jay C.After scraping our old roof our Solar Tube was broke. Hid by taping with electric tape. Seemed to be more interested in fighting than making it right, with tales about peeling off roofing tape to replace with electrical tape. Cost me $1,000+
We wouldn't have known until it failed or, as it happened we sold and inspection revealed it. The ironic twist, we live in a retirement community, he might have told his stories to any of my neighbors but I have been on my roof to clean gutters and more. Even cleaned out the solar tube before they broke it so the only debris in it was from their damage. I asked Collin, after I found him going up on our roof uninvited, why he didn't inform us as the contract required? He told me there was no penalty!
Worst part, my wife kept saying it was darker and I wouldn't take her seriously, I hate when she's right!
My roof was put on my home by Dynamic Roofing Concepts in 2016. I was not the owner at the time but bought the home in 2018. Less than a year after I bought it the roof was leaking and did significant water damage to the interior. I contacted Dynamic Roofing Concepts about it. They informed me that the previous owner purchased a non-transferable warranty. They were very nice about the whole thing except the refused to help me in any way shape or form. As a small business owner, I get that mistakes happen, but warranty or no warranty, if I did a crappy job on something, I would do my best to make it right in some way. They wouldn't even come out to look at it to discuss repairing it and wanted an $85 fee just to look at it. Perhaps my experience was an aberration but I can't recommend their service if they put on roofs that leak in less than 3 years and then hide behind a non-transferable warranty.
Dynamic Roofing is an excellent company. The president came to my house and provided me with an estimate. Of the 5 companies I dealt with he was by far the most professional. He explained everything from the roof tiles, to the cobra vents to the warranties available with different packages, as well as the free wind mitigation inspection for your insurance company.. The team that laid my roof did a super job and were meticulous about cleaning up after themselves. The Bottom Line is Dynamic Roofing gives you a Great job at a fair and honest price! RH
This company put a roof on a home that we just bought in 2011. The original owners didn't realize the horrendous job that this company performed. After only a few years (8) years, the shingles are lifting, they weren't nailed in the spot they were supposed to be nailed, they were nailed to high on the shingles, they didn't put the proper shingles on the corners and eaves, instead ""breaking in 1/2 a shingle and nailing it to the roof"" (this is per a roofing contractor that came out and inspected the roof yesterday. They refuse to honor their work, stating ""I don't owe you anything, you aren't the original home owner and my contract isn't with you"". Tony was rude and incorrigible. I didn't want him to ""spend money on my roof"" as he said, I just wanted him to make it right, or apologize. However, he wouldn't even do that. I ended our conversation and left it at that. I will contact an attorney and informed him that I would let the entire Facebook World and BBB know of his work or lack there of. I have picture proof of three shingles that blew off my house - each showing that the nails were placed too high on the shingle, causing the lifting and shifting and ultimately blowing off the house, I have picture proof of their lack of providing the correct corner and eave shingles causing leaking on the right side of the house and now the wood is soft. I have picture proof of lifting shingles in multiple areas caused by his workmanship (of which he stated ""I don't guarantee the workmanship, and I don't owe you anything"". I wouldn't recommend him to anyone, ever.
Zoie W.Great price and quick on coming out! And the work team was great! No complaints. They had their estimator come out and give us a quote within a week. He was very informational and honest.
I had Dynamic Roofing replaced the roof on my 1,800 square foot roof.
They did an excellent job. Had the old roof removed and the new one in place in two days including the clean-up. I was impressed with the quality of work and the professionalism of the workmen.
I had a leak that occurred after the warranty has expired, and Collin had his guys came out and investigate. It turned out not to be related to the roof replacement but with the chimney. Dynamic Roofing fixed the leak and even though it was after the warranty had expired, they did not charge for it. I highly recommend them.
Based on my personal experience with Colin Clark and Dynamic Roofing Concepts, readers would do well to disregard the negative reviews. This is who you want doing your roof.
Roofing contractors generally are notorious for unreliability, overpricing and underdelivering on their promises. What you want is a contractor who is conscientious, courteous, committed to maximum quality, and who speaks fluent English, because you're talking about your money and the roof on your house. And, it would be nice to have the feeling that the contractor actually cared about your job after the crew drove away.
You are getting all of this and more with Colin. I had him do my roof NINE YEARS ago, when I bought my house from someone who had let it go to the point where the attic contained a huge blue tarp suspended from a roof so leaky the tarp was filled up like a giant bowl of water. Colin arrived at the scheduled time, looking professional, every time he came out. He listened to my needs, quoted an extremely competitive rate, got to work, and had the job performed flawlessly, without wasting time.
No nickeling and diming, or stories about suddenly needing to replace FAR more plywood than originally thought, etc. He knows how to estimate. When the job was done, the cleanup was intensely thorough. No nails! Very important, since we have small dogs. His crew members are all legally in the US, which is also of paramount importance.
Over time, in Florida, small leaks can arise even in an expertly installed roof. Colin cares enough about the long-term quality of his work and about his customers that he willingly has had these fixed without charging more money. This is the sign of an excellent contractor--one worth writing positive reviews for.
Put it this way....I created a yelp account today specifically to leave this guy some props after he came and fixed a recurring leak last month. Nine years later.
When this roof needs replacing, Colin is the only roofer I will consider.
Sue N.We recently had a leak in our roof and called Dynamic to come check it out. Their estimator (Chris) came out, went up on the roof, then came in to tell us what he found.
We were told that a vent and an area of shingles and underlayment would need to be replaced and sealed. Cost would be $825. We agreed and about a week or so later someone came out to do the repair. All he did was change the vent. He was done in no more than 15 minutes. We didn't hear from the company again for nearly a month when Chris called and asked if he could stop by. We said sure. He came in and wanted a payment of $825. My husband told him he had a problem with that since the work stated on the contract was not done. Chris then said that they ""fixed the problem"" and the cost was $825. We refused to pay for work that was not done according to the contract. Chris said ""Isn't the company allowed to make money"" which immediately made me feel like we were being taken. He yelled at us for a while (yes I yelled back) and he left. I was very shaken by this incident. My husband called the company immediately to talk to the owner.
We got a call back from the company the next morning. My husband explained to the girl what happened and she apologized and said she would have the owner call him. She obviously called Chris and told him what was going on because he called and confronted my husband about it. Chris said he did not yell at us and he knew he hadn't because ""if he had, and if my husband were a real man, he would have kicked him out of our house"". My husband then said, ""you just gave me more to tell your boss"" and hung up on him.
To try to shorten this very long story, the owner called, we told him our story and he gave us the same song and dance Chris did. ""We fixed the problem"" $825. We said we won't pay that and offered $200 (which my son who owns his own business in RI that does some roofing told me to offer them which was more than fair for what they did) and of course he refused it. We went back and forth on the price for some time, hearing things liked:
1- we fixed the problem (which we didn't know because it hadn't rained again)
2- we hate doing repairs, no money in it
3- we have to pay our repair guy several hundred dollars (I forget the exact amount said) no matter how long it takes to do the job.
4- cost covers one year warranty on the repair because more likely than not, they will have to come out to repair it again (that gave me a real cozy feeling)
What does any of these things have to do with them not doing what they said they would in the contract? That was my issue. Less work done, less money paid.
We could see we were getting no where with this company, just wanted this over and settled on paying $600.
I'm not saying they did shoddy work. It rained yesterday and our roof didn't leak. I hope it doesn't in the next year because I never want to deal with these people again. How they treated senior citizens was a shame. How they insisted on charging for work not done according to the contract was a shame. Attacking my husband's manhood (which is called being a gentleman) was a shame.
Please be very careful when hiring someone to do work on your home. Read the contract carefully and make sure they do the work stated in it. And if it is not done, don't pay the price!
Cathy M.They do not know how to accurately estimate or they purposely tried taking advantage of me the homeowner. Their initial bid for roof was $11,322.00 and final bill was $19,065.00. They performed $2,487.00 additional work on roof without approval. They didn't even give me a change order. When I pointed this out, they created a ""woodwork addendum"" which is back dated and its for a whole new job to ""rebuild wood deck"" for $5,256.00 which I did not request nor approve and wasn't even aware until they completed work and sent bill. I had to get an attorney involved. Nightmare!!
Be careful of contract AND billing!!!! Watch the crew!!!! Im a former civil engineer and IMHO, this is a small company trying to act like a large contracting company. I had to request copies of licenses and had to get this company to update insurance certificate (expired) before proceeding. Based on an Angies List rec, I hired this company to fix roof leak. Estimator (Mark Wallace) arrived and identified 2 areas for further ""inspection."" Estimator provided quote that covered time and materials and assumed ""typical"" repair zone of influence for similar leaks. Company contract was very clear that cost could be less if repair zone was smaller OR cost could be higher - and require change order - if repair zone was larger. Contract was very one sided toward company. VERY one sided. Upon completion of repair, which took 4 weeks to schedule and 1/2 day to complete, I inspected materials used and kept watch of the crew and determined the actual repair zone was smaller than estimated (and quoted). HOWEVER, the invoice was for fully quoted amount. During a 60 day negotiation period, I had to request TWO invoice adjustments to account for time and materials NOT actually used during the repair. Owner (Colin Clark) had to approve - in writing - these 2 adjustments to the original quote and the final negotiated price was 15% less than original quote. Adding insult was a final collection call from Owner saying I was delinquent in not paying full quoted price even though my account was paid in full.
