Douglass Restoration
Company Overview
We are a family-run roofing business that embodies a local touch. We are fully licensed, bonded, and insured for your peace of mind. We take pride in delivering exceptional communication and customer service to every client.
We built our roofing knowledge while assisting in the recovery from hurricanes Katrina, Wilma, and Ike. Our journey in roofing started as a family project. Michael Douglass acquired his skills from his father. He became fully state certified, licensed, bonded, and insured after nine years, allowing us to start our roofing company in 2013.
Integrity, good communication, and determination guide us in all aspects of life. We ensure that each task is done to the best of our ability, prioritizing quality over speed or lower costs.
The Douglass family, proud Florida natives, now lives in Charlotte County with our five amazing children. We are proud to operate our roofing business in sunny Southwest Florida. We hope to cross paths with you soon!
The owner began his roofing career working alongside his father in 2005. In 2013, he launched his own roofing company, partnering with his wife in the business. They were both born and raised in Florida and have a deep appreciation for the Southwest coast.
I am a second-generation roofing contractor who enjoys assisting homeowners in protecting their homes with new roofs.

Worst experience with any company ever. Zero stars!!! From the beginning they did a horrible job. The shingles were curled still are and they left streaks of lifted shingles that look worse than the shingles they took off the roof that were over 15 years old. They bent up our gutters left trash all over the place. They got tare on our car that was parked 25 feet from the house out by the road. They left the roof caped off with no ventilation to our attic for 4 days causing our A/C to fail and probably shortened it's life. Got a so called manager named Lilly one time I called to complain she of course told me what I wanted to hear then told me if I have any other issues please call her back. So of course when they failed to fix any of the issues I called back asking for her and some how she just happened to be on a conference call or meeting every time I called and of course she never called me back avoided me like the plague. They lied to us over and over again telling us what we wanted to hear to get us off the phone. Every time they told us what they were going to do they didn't do it. They tell us we will be out Saturday we want to make sure someone will be home to go over the issues not only do they not show they don't even call so you waste an entire Saturday waiting for them to come. Then promise they will be out Sunday but again no show no call. Also if they send there roof inspector and they get you a new roof they will lie to you and have you believe that if you don't get the roof redone through them they can and will fine you a $5,000 finders fee that you agree to ahead of time. Found out later from county inspector that is total illegal and they can not do that you can use who ever you want with your insurance money. They will lie to you and they do not care if your roof looks like shit just as long as it meets any minimum requirements for a passing inspection which I still can't understand how it can pass if wind can clearly get under the shingles. Wouldn't use this company again if they paid me 25K to use them. I attached pictures of what the roof looks like and what they think is work that OK to leave a customer with. Almost forgot the re-roof took 3 weeks, 3 weeks of a dumpster in our driveway three weeks is ridiculous I've had 3 roofs done in my life in other homes none ever took more than 3 days and one included removing a old tile roof. If they ever get things right I will update or remove this review so if its still here then my roof still looks like the pictures.

I hired Douglass to replace my roof. While their work was good, dealing with them has been a very stressful nightmare. Every single aspect of the job was like pushing boulders uphill. They do not answer phone calls or emails. They made addendum claims to my insurance company that I believe are fraudulent. When I called to get some clarification on a new solar system charge of $3,800 that they did not put in, the woman who answered the phone said she did not know anything about the numbers. I asked to speak to the person who did and was told he was in a meeting. She said she would ask him to call me back that afternoon or the next morning and I have never heard from him. I have told my insurance company I believe most of the charges are greatly exaggerated or unwarranted. I have told my realtor to take them off the list he offers clients. This company is awful to deal with!

Sit back and hear how this went....
I contacted this company on Facebook after Hurricane Irma due to a hole that ""appeared"" on my roof after the storm. My insurance company shorted me on the money needed to repair the damages so I went through a lawyer to get the rest of the money. A year and 2 months later my roof is complete. But, not without massive amounts of follow up on my end to get answers. My damages were for a roof replacement and to fix damages inside due to water coming through my bedroom ceiling. More than $3000 was allotted to fix the damages inside my house. Since my roof was completed I have been lied to over and over again. I called Douglass on Feb 2nd @ 10:21 am and was told that there is money set aside to fix the interior damages but she did not have a date of when the fixes would occur but assured me I would hear from her later that day with a day and time for fixes and/or a person that would contact me to have the fixes done. February 2nd came and went, as did February 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th. On February 9th @ 1:22 pm, I contacted Douglass again (I spoke with Jessica and Stevie) and was apologized for their lack of communication and was promised a follow up call later that day with the answers needed for the interior repairs required. February 9th came and went as did February 10th. I called back today, February 11th @ 10:39 am and spoke with Jessica. I told her that NO ONE had called me back at all and she, again apologized. Asked to put me on hold so she could get the appropriate person on the line. After a few minutes hold she came back and said sorry, no one is available to help you. Seriously? After $25,000 to fix a 35 square roof and you don't have time to help YOUR CUSTOMER?
This company should be reported for STEALING insurance money. Which is what they did. They have the paperwork showing the insurance paid for interior work but they are now REFUSING to communicate about the repairs needed to complete this job.
I DARE the owner to respond with an apology after this. I have the appropriate documentation showing what work the insurance paid for, and all the follow up I have done to try and get answers.
This company is by far the worst at follow up that I have ever seen. Their customer service, if you can get them on the phone is GREAT...if you like excuses and apologies! I would suggest to everyone to RUN AWAY. Do not give them one cent up front because they will make you feel like you are asking for a favor when you are rightfully owed a service!

My parents had Douglas roofing reroof there rental property in Venice after a tree fell on it during Irma I September 2017. They tarped the roof at the time. Fast forward to June 2018 they start the tear of process they arrived with 4 sheet's of plywood, mind you a huge tree fell on the corner of the house. They used the plywood and said they ran out of plywood and couldn't get more that day. They left with roof with tar paper on some of the roof and a sheet of plastic on the damaged corner. (Tarp was trashed from being on so long) fast forward to 2 plus weeks. Still with a plastic sheet like for painting inside not for a roof. We had a typical summer shower coming with some strong winds. Around 3 in the afternoon I went outside because it was getting windy. I saw the plastic completely off the roof. I called the number no response. I called my parents/landlord to see if they had another number. My mom got a hold of someone and the said they would have someone out there soon. They rain started coming down around 5:30 and the water was pouring in our bathroom and light fixture and master bedroom door. A nice guy showed up at 7 and in the pouring rain and lightning went on the roof and tarped it. He said they would make it right. Replace drywall and insulation. No problem. He said he got a call around 4 and he came as soon as he could from Naples to Venice. I called to find out why the roof was talking so long to get completed and The project manager said it had just rained and the roof had to be dry in order for them to put shingles on it. Meanwhile the house behind us had there roof done in 2 days with the same weather happening.
This company didn't deliver on the promise they made. It took them 3 months from the time they took off the roof of a 1200sq ft house.
They left the mangled aluminum soffit and fascia all around the house. In multiple places there wasn't any soffit because it came off during the roofing process. Apparently that wasn't included in the price to repair the roof.
If you get a low ball price on a roof buyer beware. You get what you pay for.
Yes I was a tenant of the owner. To me that doesn't matter. Don't use this company.

I needed a new roof, so I went online and looked up the reviews. I contacted Douglass Restoration and the owner Stephen came to give me a very reasonable quote the next day, on a Saturday morning! This business is local and family owned. They don't nickle and dime you. His price is all inclusive. What he quoted was exactly what I paid. They use the Tamko Heritage Architectural shingles, which is beautiful and has a great warranty. He also warranteed his work for 10 years. I offered him down payment, but he said to pay him after the work is done and I am completely satisfied before paying him. He sent out a crew, removed all the old shingles, installed the new ones and finished in 2 days. He even gave me a free Wind Mitigation report to reduce my insurance premium. What a great company!! By the way, I also contacted their biggest competitor, but they were not responsive, I had to call and email them repeatedly for their employee to finally give me an estimate, but their quote was much higher than this company. I want to hire someone that's responsive so I know if something happens, they will be there. I told my friend who needs a new roof to check out this company before signing a contract. I highly recommend Douglass Restoration roofing!

I had a new roof installed and some inside damage to the ceiling repaired. The entire job was done in a timely manner, the crews for both the outside and inside work were professional, and the clean-up was excellent! The owner is an expert in working with insurance companies and the final bill came in hundreds of dollars under the quote. Douglass Restoration produced outstanding results for a fair price.

Do not use this company. I Hired them to repair my roof 2018. They removed my shingles over 2 months ago June 10 and my roof still isn't finished. The metal roof has edges that aren't straight. The valley was never sealed and many other issues. It keeps failing inspection. I have never been so dissatisfied with a company. I rarely write reviews and this is my first bad review.

Do Not hire Douglass Restoration. They have no clue how to find or repair a leak and when they don't know, they recommend to replace the roof. Stephen spoke to my husband rudely and with no respect. So now, that they tried to fix their initial repair and they can't, they left my roof without tiles and unfinished. He wants more money to fix the hole that he just made! Unprofessional and I would not hire them.

We had Douglass Restoration replace our roof after hurricane Irma and they did a fantastic job. They were very professional and always eager to answer any of our questions. I would highly recommend them to anyone needing roof work.

i give no stars for this company. from day one 2 years ago, i have nothing but trouble with them. they did not show up when scheduled, left garbage around house, left nails around yard (i have two dogs). did not do work properly and had to return several times to complete work. inspection did not pass, they had to come back to correct it. recently had a leak notice in Sept 2017, from Sept to Jan trying to get them back for leak. they send crews that do not know what they are doing and caulk and nail problems. owner never came to look at leak or address problem. owner blames my domestic partner behavior why they are not coming back. any owner would be upset with this level of service and poor customer service. i finally got owner to call me and he was yelling and calling my partner names. very unprofessional. i work 12 hours shifts in the health field, they do not have consideration for my time and schedule, show up when they want to. you will have a headache if you use Douglass. it is costing me money now due to they are not capable to fix a leak that another roofing company states should of been an easy fix.
See profile picture, that is how they fix a leak.
