Not sure about all the positive reviews for this contractor. We had a real bad experience.
They rebuilt two of our decks on 2nd floor and did a real bad job. First they did not complete several items on the contract and instead issued small credits in the mid of job saying they cannot do the work.
At end, both the decks were built with a reverse slope and now after every rain we have about an inch of water filled in both the decks. When I asked them to fix it I was told that it's only a cosmetic issue and I need to pay more to get it fixed.
Having almost an inch of water filled on both decks is not a cosmetic issue, we have to now sweep the decks after every rain to remove the water because it stays there for weeks after rain and starts to rot.
My suggestion is to stay away from this company. They are really responsive in begning and seemed very professional but the quality of work is really bad.

BEWARE of this father and son team. Kept delaying our appointment,- and the next day arrived almost 2 hours later than promised. Quoted $295 over the phone to fix a leak - discovered it was a full gutter. Father held the ladder while the son climbed on the roof to do the work. Did some other minor sealing around roof vents and chimney with tar and fiberglas tape. After 2 hours (which included a 15 minute smoke break for both of them) the son demanded payment of $2,400.00. I of course refused and told them they could talk to my attorney. No formal quote, invoice or receipt provided. I reluctantly gave them $800 to get them off the property - and I still think it was way more than they deserved. DO NOT CONDUCT BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. Totally unethical. Told me that for $800 they would provide no leak warranty. This is not the same company I did business with 20 years ago.. .They son's name was Rick and I think the dad's name was Tony. These traveling gents hijacked the DoneRight name and website for their own unauthorized use. Original owner Glen has been retired for a while. Filed formal complant with the California State Contractors Licensing Board - still waiting for some action..

Glenn just spent an hour with us explaining that we DON'T need a new roof for another 5 years. What?! A roofing contractor telling us that we don't need a new roof??! That's awesome. In addition to being incredibly honest, Glenn was also great at explaining what was going on with the roof. We had a small leak that triggered us to contact him. He spent time on the roof and showed us videos that he took, explaining what was happening. Even though we don't need a new roof now, we know exactly who to call when we do.

Called on a holiday regarding a leak in the bathroom ceiling. He came out the same day and checked it out, was straight forward about what he thought the problem was and did the work professionally.

This is the second time I have called Glenn at Done Right Roofing for roof troubles and both times he was SIX-STAR!!
The first was in 2013 during one of the few rain storms we had. My daughter's room was flooded from a leak. Glenn came highly recommended by a friend. He was swamped but, instead of saying no like some other roofers did, he managed to squeeze us in and did a fantastic job quickly diagnosing the problem and doing a perfect repair.
The second time I called him was in 2014. After an extensive remodel I found myself being woken up every night by a loud metallic sound every time it rained. I had another roofer out (a large company who was used by my contractor) who told me it was a gutter issue. I called out the gutter company who said the gutters were fine. Kicking myself for not calling him first, I then called Glenn who came out on a holiday of all things since he knew that rain was coming. He again quickly assessed the problem and performed another perfect repair!! Since the fix did not take very long he offered to look around the roof and found another loose tile and fixed that as well before he left.
Glenn is truly one of the good ones out there. I would recommend him without reservation!!

The other 5-star reviews here are all incredibly well-deserved and accurate in my humble opinion. Absolutely, Done Right -- Glenn, Martine, and his team of folks, are superior. Incredibly professional, seamless coordination and communications, helpful, honest, kind and extremely knowledgeable and capable people! I added some other aspects to the job and Glenn discussed it in detail ahead of time, and took care of it all. I cannot say enough good things about this team, and also how painless they made everything go. This is what every contractor should and perhaps, only could, aspire to. I really mean that! Yes, and the pricing was very fair, competitive, and upfront. They work so hard and deserve every dollar earned. Thank you, Glenn and Martine and others!

Can't say enough great things about Glenn and his crew, who recently replaced our roof. Great job, reasonably priced, honest and transparent, clear communication throughout the job, a pleasure to work with, and an experienced crew who know what they're doing and who leave the job site immaculate each and every day. We will definitely ask Glenn to help us on other home projects.

This is a long-overdue review for the great work Glenn did 1.5 year ago. I don't do reviews a lot but feel I have to give credit in this case.
I had a roof leak in Jan 2013. Called Glenn to arrange an estimation based on good reviews. On the estimation day, I was out that day and totally missed the estimation and his call unfortunately. When I found out later after the scheduled time and called Glenn, he graciously arranged another estimation. He gave a fair price and accommodated my needs. The actual job done by Glenn and his team a few days later was great. He also pointed out another area needed some painting that I could do myself to save money, which I did and that helped a lot.
Next time when I need a roof work (knock on wood), I'd definitely call Glenn again.

In a nutshell: The job provided by Glenn and his crew was outstanding. Very high quality. Highly recommended. The whole process was easy and without any hangups. He responded very quickly to my request for estimate and even started the job within a week or so; I was worried about impending rainy season.
The long review: I actually had a different contractor lined up for the job, but they kept delaying the start even though I gave them a deadline due to vacation plans and worrying about the start of the rainy season. Glenn came out and within two days I had an estimate. I had two other contractors come out for my second round and Done Right was the only one to respond. The estimate (and other documents provided) were very thorough. Although the estimate was slightly on the high side, I prefer quality and it wasn't that much higher.
Glenn also was the only one to actually listen to my needs. I knew the existing roof was done by a Fly-By-Nighter and had the minumim required plywood base. It was leaking in 7 or 8 places. I wanted thicker base (it was like a trampoline even in good areas) and Glenn was the only one to also insist on doing that. Glenn also said to get a permit, which he did easily, while the others practically insisted on not doing that. Get a permit. Not a big deal.
As mentioned, he started the job quickly knowing and sharing my concerns about the impending rainy seaon. I think he started the job within in a week. It was also done very quickly.
There was also a small flat section that I wanted pitched and they did that doing a great job. There was a larger flat area with rot and they fixed that as well, doing a great job.
If I have any complaints at all, the company he hired for roof stripping left a bit to be desired only from the perspective that they totally ignored my planted flower bed in front and simply stepped all over the plants when picking up debris. I finally told them to ignore that area and I'll clean it up. But they did clean up well.
Also, the inspector had to come out for final before the job was fully done, and wasn't happy about that, but he approved it. I just had to deal with a cranky inspector. Also had to buy $270 worth of smoke and CO2 alarms as inspector won't approve the job without them being to code. Large house.
Word of warning on that: Different inspectors came out, one after stripping and second one at the end. They did not have the same ""opinion"" on requirements for alarms. I went to the county website and it's fairly worthless. Take that back, it's totally worthless. Says things like you ""should"" have one here and there, but does not clearly say ""must"". So listen and write down what the first inspector says else you'll be scratching your head as to how many you need. And don't be shocked, you'll need a bunch. I'm surprised I didn't need one in my toilet bowl. Need them just about everywhere else.
But these were fairly minor issues easily dealt with.
Overall Done Right is very highly recommended.

Done Rite Roofing and Gutters adds Solar to their expertise which is why we chose Glenn and his solar partner to rehabilitate our roof. This two story 1968 house in the Santa Theresa and Cottle Rd area of San Jose has a combination of steep pitch in front which leveled off into a large flat roof at the peak, this was a challenge to some roofing companies we called. The job was complicated in that the prior owner had some kind of flaky rooftop HVAC distribution box with several legs providing ""dump air"" to the center of each of the upstairs rooms. (Flat roof with many penetrations, a true recipe for leakage). We had decided to go with Solar due to the high electric bills we were seeing so we knew we needed to break down and rehab the roof. We found Glenn / Done Rite Roofing on Yelp and Angie's List and noted that he had the most consistent high satisfaction ratings of any of the other roofing specialists. Glenn was able to schedule a visit and estimate within a couple of days and not only was his pricing very competitive he was very honest in assessing the fact that our garage flat roof was in stellar condition and did not need repair or rehabilitation in that it had been redone recently by the previous owner. It was during our discussions that he related his working agreement with Solar Ease to allow the solar install to be completed (hand in glove) with the roofing work. Glen installs the high end, semi custom, mounting stanchions during the roofing process, adding the custom mini roof jack flashings and rubber seals before the shingling took place this created zero penetrations to the roofing material. The end result was a pitched roof with a 50 year guarantee a flat roof with all the old ductwork removed and the penetrations patched, sealed, and then finished with a three layer process the top layer being a torched on membrane suitable for a roof in any climate from the Mojave to the northern climes of Canada. You just cant buy a better job or work with a guy with a better attitude or higher level of honor than Glenn.... Glenn and his team sure... Done Rite for us......, ask about his 10% Discount as well.
