Update December 2023: INFERIOR gutter was installed. I'm currently waiting to see how the subpar gutter will be addressed. Sort of getting acknowledged but basically being ignored so I'll go away. I'll post an update if there is one. My current recommendation is to NOT get new gutters installed by Deats Roofing.

September 2023: New composite roof, flat roof, and gutter installed. The roof seems fine but the gutter installation was poor: unclean cuts, sharp points, wood nails were used instead of screws in the gutter, and screws that were used do not touch the wood and connect the gutter to the wood beams. Deats already came out once to address leaking at a joint but I'm currently getting ignored for the major issues called out in November 2023.

I used Deats Roofing 3 years ago and was happy with Frank's responsiveness and quality of work. This review is for August 2023. Frank made an appointment with me to look at the back portion of my house that has a flat roof. He did not show up for the appointment time and didn't call to cancel. He has not responded to any messages I left. Very disappointed after previous positive experience.

Excellent in every way! We have and old home and we needed a new roof. Once they got into it the roof they found a lot more rotten wood than expected , and they took care and replaced all it. From the beginning to the end the owner was there to explain the process and all of our questions were answered immediately. Really good communication! Excellent experience!
We have the smallest and oldest home on our culdesac, and now we have the nicest roof of anyone! The roof is absolutely beautiful!

This review is for agreeing to come and then not showing up and not informing until i called and pestered him. After many messages, he replied with a one line saying he is busy and not coming.

When you work with this guy, ensure you have a backup as he is not dependable. I also think the other reviews were posted by friends and family..

After failing to find a roofer to fix a leak, I saw some reviews for Deats on the Nextdoor app and I gave them a call. They were pleasant, responsive and timely in assessing the problem (showed me a video of what they believed to be the issue). About 2 weeks later, before predicted rain, they came and fixed it for a reasonable price. The fix had a great test during our recent Armageddon! No sign of leakage, so I've concluded that I've found that rarity called an honest roofer. I highly recommend this business.

Despite knowing that I was going to repair the roof vent leak myself, Frank still spent the time to advise me on the issue, and what and where to buy to the sealant. And please note that is during the time when we had the big storm in the Bay Area. This act of kindness will not be forgotten. I will definitely recommend and go to Frank for roof services in the future.

This is a long overdue review, but greatly deserved. We had our house re-roofed by Frank Deats and his team during the end of May. Prior to hiring him we had gone through several bids and chose Frank because of his responsiveness and fair price. During the whole process, he was very good about letting us know what to expect. He even tarped off areas in the garage to protect our shelves from debris. Frank and his crew were super hardworking through the whole process and finished our roof in 2.5 days. Each day he would tell us what to expect and would kindly answer any questions. Once the roof was finished Frank and his crew left the area very clean. Our neighbors commented on how nice the roof came out. We're happy we chose Frank and if we had to replace or repair another roof, we'd gladly hire his services again.

This is a special review because it is my very first public review on Yelp. It was important for me to write a review in this case because I received such spectacular service from Frank Deats and his team at Deats roofing. Let me be more specific about my experience:

1) When I began researching a new roof I knew nothing at all about roofs, options, materials, etc. I talked and received bids from six other companies. Deats was referred to me by a neighbor that had a very positive experience. As I was researching roofers, Frank stood out in terms of response time and education. He spent a lot of time with me explaining everything from the materials, process and was candid about what options I needed and what I didn't. Frank is a great educator that always put things in laymen's terms for me without making me feel awkward for asking the question.

2)His team was SO hardworking, helpful and courteous. Frank would always visit the site to review their work and bring them lunch.

3) Deats is a family-owned business. As a consumer, It's important for me to support these businesses in order to maintain competition in the marketplace. I also believe there is greater oversight by the owners at these businesses resulting in higher quality of product.

4) speaking of quality of product, we LOVE our new roof. It's made a huge difference in the appearance of our house, we've already received numerous comments from neighbors about how nice it looks and our insurance rates were lowered.

In summary, our experience with Deats Roofing was first rate. They are reasonable, easy to work with and provided us with a high quality product. I highly recommend them.
