We had solar panels installed in 2014. Kumu Kit installers/roofers stated that the thicker non matching roof tiles would be satisfactory replacements. They also stated that all the tiles that were caulked together, broken or damaged around and under the solar panels had been replaced. They were the last people on the roof until 2017.
In 2017, leaks in the ceiling were found under the area of the solar panels. We tried David's since we have lost all trust in Kumu Kit to perform work ethically. We were shocked when David's estimator told us that about 70 plus tiles needed to be replaced.
Last week David's Roofing repaired the butcher job that was under the solar panels. They had to install additional flashing. They replaced 50 roof tiles that were cracked/broken/held together with caulking/too thick with the proper matching roof tiles. In addition, another 20 tiles were replaced that were broken/cracked at other locations on the roof.
Employees were fast, efficient, polite and respectful. But, most important to us is that they could left alone and be trusted to do the right thing. We will use them again.

We finally decided to put in solar so it made sense to have our roof done too, since the roof was looking pretty bad. We called David's and scheduled an estimate.

Raymond came out and he was terrific! First, he said, you know, your roof is still in okay condition and should last maybe 5 more years. What? He wasn't trying to talk me into a new roof? I explained that we wanted to install solar so we figured we'd put a new roof on now rather than waiting 5 years and then having to uninstall and reinstall all the solar panels. He agreed. So he went on to explain what they did and the materials they offered. He was really knowledgeable. One funny thing, he pointed at my neighbor's roof and said, ""See that? We don't do that. We use bigger and stronger material."" That made me chuckle...did I just say chuckle?

I asked him about those metal roofs that look so cool and other ""sexy"" roofing options rather than boring old composite shingle. He pointed to another neighbor's roof, who had that sleek metal roof. He said, ""See that?"" And he proceeded to tell me the disadvantages of those roofs and why composite is not only more economical, it is easier to maintain. He said, it just wasn't a good material for my roof since it has gables and peaks and valleys. So now he's talking me into a better-priced option? What is going on here? Could I actually be talking to an honest salesman? Turns out I was.

So we went with the thicker shingles with the white, reflective surface. I also ordered new gutters.

And so the adventure began. They had to coordinate with Haleakala Solar to remove our existing solar water heater and then later, put it back together. They installed the roof in about 3 days, ripping it down to the bare wood, replacing some rotted sections and putting it all back together. The gutters then went up and it was all done. A shiny new roof, ready for the solar PV panels. It was all quite painless. The different crews were all very professional, friendly and courteous. They were really careful to pick up any nails they might have dropped in the yard. And after all was said and done, the bill was smaller than I was expecting. Good thing Raymond talked me out of the more expensive metal roof.

And throughout the project and after it was done, both David and Davelyn kept in touch with me, checking in to make sure I was happy. And we are.

We had to do some roof repairs. From the estimate to the actual finished job, everyone was respectful and helpful. The job was done well and fast! The cost was fair too. We would definitely use them for any roof work again (hopefully we wouldn't need any )

I am very happy to report my experience with David's Roofing. I live in San Diego and own a home in the Salt Lake district. In 2014, hurricane Ana brought forth the weakest link of my property's roof. David and his Crew did an excellent job stripping and re-roofing about 40% of my property in June 2015. David exemplifies the best of Hawaii in his integrity and professionalism. I am very confident David would treat any home owner as he did me.

Some of my roof tiles blew off when we had the strong winds. I called a roof repair company, the man that came did not even go up on the roof to inspect what needed to be done & gave me a quote of $1500. I called Tory's roofing & the guy went up & took pics. He said he'd email me a quote in 3 days. Three days came & went still no quote. Till this day (months later) no quote. A friend suggested David's. Raymond Namba is an asset to this company. Very professional, he helped me with all the necessary steps & corrections. I was so surprised to get a call from David to see how everyone went. Who does that anymore?

Nice family, great work ethic, all's good; installed cool sun resistant roof 3 years ago, with stainless ceiling fan, and now I hear they do painting!
I'm going all in soon...! Got so cool had to turn a/c off...! Davelyn is a great sales lady and her dad taught her everything. She climbed the roof too!

Our 30+ year roof needed replacing. It was leaking and was worn out. Called David's, he came personally and did the estimate. I did not get back to him for over a year but he kept the estimated price and scheduled the job. Workers were fast and efficient, cleaned up the area around the house after tearing out old material and replacing with new roof. Job was completed in a day and a half. David called a couple of days after the job to follow up and thank us for choosing his company. It's been a couple of months now of rainy weather and no more leaks.

I called to request a quote for interior/exterior painting. They said they would be by on xx day, because they would be on way home from work. Never showed or called. Received call following day to apologize. I thought, ok, understandable. I have done it before. We set another day and time. Again, no show and no call to say they got busy or anything. I am a very understanding person and know people get busy but to not call and say, ""I messed up"". Can't comment on quality of work since I can't even get a quote.

I called them for a quote but they couldn't come to see my house for a couple of weeks because they're so busy. But I made an appointment and in the mean time I got quotes from other companies. We decided to go with one of the other companies because we have a leak but Bubba from David's Custom Roofing was so nice. I really appreciate how he tried to meet with me. Thank you!
