I gave my 1st review on Angies List after job completion in 2013. 4.5 years and we have had no issues with our roof. When we did have a minor gutter problem, I called Dave and he sent someone out promptly to fix it.
DHR did a tear out of our wood shingle roof & gutters. The new composite roof & gutters are still looking new. He gave us a competitive price & worked with the house painters who were also doing the exterior in the same time frame.

I would recommend & hire this company for other work.

I would NEVER recommend Horn Roofing to anyone. Spent a small fortune having my roof replaced, skylights redone, gutters, and removal of greenhouse off the back of my home. I was not cutting corners but he did. Cheap gutters were installed that rusted and leaked within the first few years. Had the nerve to tell me I needed to paint the insides to stop rusting. One skylight was never re-flashed as it was improperly installed according to Horn. I called him numerous times and his replly was, ""is it leaking?"". I asked him if I had to wait until it WAS leaking to have him fix it. It is now leaking but I would NEVER have him back to do anything! I also had the chimneys redone with trek boards or something similar to insure they would not rot. He decided to trim them out with wood that is now rotting! The guy has no conscience. My daughter ran into him in a local hardware store and chewed him out in front of everyone and he had his secretary call me the following week for him to come out. Mind you this is YEARS he has put me off. I wouldn't have David Horn roof my doghouse!! Think twice before signing a contract with him!

Last October I purchased a home which had been built in 1929. During the process, almost everyone I dealt with--from my real estate agent, to the loan broker, to the contractor I hired to level the foundation!--were dishonest & unprofessional. David Horn was the exact opposite! He and his employees were professional, courteous, fair & (most importantly!) honest. I would highly recommend this roofing company!

I requested an estimate for my roughly $10K job (installing new insulation and decking, replacing old roofing, repairing some fascia) and made an appointment for 2pm. At 3:20pm, he phoned and said he wouldn't make it because of traffic. He asked to reschedule for the next day and I stated I would be home from 1-3pm. He said he was trying to get out of town for vacation and that wouldn't work...after he had asked specifically to come that day.

Still on the phone, he asked a few questions about my project and I answered with details. He asked how many roofing bids I had received and I said 4. He suddenly stated, ""Well, I really don't know when I'd be able to get around to your job. I have 4 months of work in front of me."" If you have 4 months of work in front of you, why did you agree to give me an estimate to begin with?

If this is the way he treats potential customers who are doing their own due diligence to obtain multiple bids on costly projects, then I cringe to wonder how he would handle his customers if problems, change orders or delays arose during a project.

When I think of what a professional should exude in the workplace, it is most certainly not David Horn. Thanks for making my decision very easy!

We recently purchased a historic bed and breakfast in the Aptos area and had David put on a new roof. The building is over 100 years old and had extensive damage, dry to, etc. 3-4 layers of old roof had to come off before even beginning the new roof. He gave us a very good idea of what we would be up against and there were no surprises that weren't to be expected on a building as old as ours. His communication was great throughout the job and we now have a roof that will last a long time!

David Horn's bid was very competitive. His crew was always on time, polite, cleaned up every evening and at the job completion. David visited the job site at least twice a day to supervise the work and job progress. The entire team had the necessary roofing skills along with many years working for Horn Roofing.

We are very pleased with our new roof, gutters downspouts and the GAF products. We highly recommend David Horn Roofing.

David Horn and his crew were wonderful. His crew were on time, went right to work, very efficient, and hard workers. David was professional and real easy to talk to, very likable guy. Besides a new roof, we also had roof repairs that needed attention, done in just slightly over a week. Loving our new roof!

David took the time to sit with us and explain all that he was doing, he was clear and understandable. His prices were very reasonable for us and really appreciated his effort to look for deals on the materials without compromising the quality, he saved us quite a bit of money.

We had extensive termite damage on our rental home affecting the roof and some of the siding. We had to come in from out of state and find someone to do the work quickly. He led us through a project that had multiple issues with ease.We felt his estimate was competitive. David Horn spent a good amount of time during our first visit explaining what needed to be done to correct all the problems. He is knowledgeable, self assured and was able to have his team work on roof, siding, windows,a skylight, fencing, gutters and decking. His timeline on completing the project was accurate. He was there everyday checking on his workers progress. As the work progressed he would show me what was being replaced and why. He also took extensive pictures of damage that I later found helpful for tax purposes. He even set us up with a painter that was reasonable and I will use in the future. The men he used worked consistently. The end result was exactly what I had hoped for and his deadline was accurate. We feel lucky to have found someone that could cover all the issues needed done in such a short amount of time.
