I started shingling roofs when I was 15. By the time I graduated high school, I was already a journeyman shingler. After six years, I moved on to become a carpenter apprentice and began constructing single-family homes as an employee. I obtained my General Contractor license in 1990 and dedicated myself to constructing single-family homes and remodeling kitchens, bathrooms, and bedrooms.
I have spent 55 years living and working in Santa Barbara, CA. I have established myself as a trustworthy, diligent General Contractor in the Santa Barbara area. Phillip F.The job ran months late, and there were significant problems with the quality of the workmanship, which I'm now in the process of remediating on my own.
I'm attaching a photo to illustrate one of the workmanship issues. The post sleeve segments shown in the photo were misaligned because Danny drilled and bolted the bottom-most and top-most segments into position before thinking about trying to align the segments. The penny in the photo shows the scale. I was able to fix this issue with 3-4 hours of work. Danny claimed that he had glued the segments together (they are supposed to be glued with epoxy), but it was lucky for me that he was not telling the truth and had actually skipped this step, because otherwise it would have been difficult or impossible to correct the alignment.
Many of the problems on this job were simply the result of poor planning and/or carelessness, although some are indicative of dishonesty.
