This company has been great to me so far. I have used them to build my outdoor patio as well as a three car carport. Sam has always been good about returning my calls and communicating really well. His estimates are precise and understandable. Several things have been changed around during the duration as I've had a few change and modifications so the estimating threw me off a little bit but overall it got situated. Sam takes great pride in his work and I recommend him to anybody. The only thing that I would say is that Sam can work a little bit better on his finished schedule time but I understand we also had a lot of rain but yes I'd recommend him to anybody.

I contacted Custom Solutions Construction and I immediately was given an estimate for some patio work I needed. Custom Solutions gave me a reasonable quote and Sam was very personable via phone and email. Within 2 days of getting my estimate Sams crew came out for a day and the work I needed on my patio was completed!! I am very please with the outcome! I highly recommend Custom Solutions and will def contact them again for any future work I may need!!

I cannot give a review of the quality of work because we did not get that far with Custom Solutions. We made an appointment for an estimate. Originally, I made the appointment, and we had trouble finding a time that would work where either my wife and I would be there. We asked if they could come out, measure, and then send us an estimate if we weren't there (something that other companies had been willing to do). They insisted that they needed to meet with us to show us the materials they would use. We eventually found a time where my wife could be home.

On the day of the appointment, they called my phone to confirm the time about an hour before. I was in a meeting but called back 10 minutes later. They informed us that they went on to the next appointment (even though I called back before the original time). My wife had carved that time out of her day and couldn't be there when they wanted to reschedule, so we cancelled.

Later, we reached back out and found a time for them to come. They arrived on time (a little early actually) and measured, then wanted to sit down and go over the materials that they would use. What that actually meant was that they wanted to do a whole sales pitch. He said it would take a few minutes. It took more than a few. I sat and listened. When it came time to get the estimate, I asked him to give us the pricing for two different sizes of gutters with two different leaf protection options so we could compare them to each other, as well as to other estimates we had received. He said that it would be impossible to do that because all the items would be on one estimate. So I said, ""You can just send us two estimates, then."" He stopped and said, ""Did I do something to piss you off?"" I said, ""No... I just want you to send us the estimates so we can decide."" He started packing up his things and said, gruffly, ""I'll send them.. and began to storm out. I was flabbergasted by his response and said, ""Well, honestly, we're probably not going to use you at this point."" He said, ""Fine, I won't send them, then,"" and walked out toward the front door.

I can't really say that I understand how it escalated that quickly, but I will say that my feeling is they have a certain sales approach that tries to get people to ""make decisions"" so that they feel committed to the job and more likely to say yes. I would have preferred for them to simply give us the information so we could decide on own.

TL:DR: There are a lot of great reviews here, so YMMV, but I found the high pressure sales approach, and then the attitude of the person who visited us to be indicative of a company that I don't want to do business with.

I thought I'd have a smooth experience given Custom Solutions Construction's other great reviews. Sadly, I was mistaken.

On the positive side, Sam was good about returning my e-mails and calls. Also, their gutters look good.

As for the downsides, especially given the high price tag, CSC's design of gutter placement & drainage was very poor, and getting them to fix many problems along the way was a major hassle. There were two main problems:

1) CSC's gutters/spouts/extension design actually collected and *pooled* large amounts of water in two areas next to the two homes on my property.

2) CSC's design unexpectedly left two areas of drainage completely untouched - parts of the roof that have flashing where a lot of valley-collected water pours off during rains, enough to cause significant erosion on the ground and stains on the house's facade. Had I known CSC would not place gutters there, I would have chosen a different company (most said they would install gutters there, and CSC eventually did after a lot of back and forth).

Smaller issues :

*CSC included a french drain in their design. When first built, they simply dug a trench and filled it with stone. No drainage tube, catch basin, or follow-up inspection. I had to contact them to get the work re-done.

*Poor accounting. CSC told me I'd receive a teacher discount, as advertised. Their first invoice did not include it. I had to remind them about it. Later, when I asked for a breakdown of the French Drain cost because it seemed overpriced, Sam showed me a receipt with itemized materials. I asked about a couple of items that didn't seem relevant to the work, and it turns out they weren't! CSC said those items must have been bought for another job. They gave me a discount after I pointed out the error, but it was poor form to overcharge a customer like that.

*Overstating their high-end gutter guard performance. CSC told me more twice that their high-end gutter guards wouldn't even let roof shingle particles through. That's not the case, small leaves and other small debris are getting through.

The effort I made to research and communicate to CSC the problems with their work took hours, and it took multiple conversations & meetings to get everything resolved. It seems like my experience was an anomoly, so CSC could still be a good choice. Just make sure, when their work is done, that your water drains away from your house; ask for itemized costs; and do a thorough inspection of their work when finished.

We hired Custom Solutions on two different occasions. First, to build a pergola and then a couple of months later, to extend our patio. The pergola turned out beautiful and was done in a few days. We decided on composite decking for our patio since it requires little maintenance and are very happy with it so far. It was a bit more than we wanted to spend, but comes with a great warranty and will look beautiful for a long time. The kids have enjoyed having the extra shade and space to play. Working with Sam was easy, he was very quick to respond to phone calls or emails and all work was started/finished in a timely manner. They also took care of HOA approval paperwork.

My wife and I are new homeowners and installing rain gutters was at the top of our list for protecting our investment. Our inspector was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable so we asked him for a recommendation. He recommended looking into Custom Solutions Construction and Central Texas Gutters. We weren't expecting much and scheduled them along with several other quotes to find the best price.

The quoted price was similar between the companies we talked with. The difference was in the service and overall quality of the product between companies. Custom Solutions are a full service construction company and are able to do more than most of the rain gutter installation companies. For example, we were told by several companies that we would have to figure out how to move a cable line that was attached right at the level that the rain gutters would be installed. During our exceptionally thorough review and quote with Custom Solutions, we were told that they would take care of moving the cable at no additional charge--""don't worry about that. We'll take care of it."" Which is exactly what we wanted to hear while wrestling with several other projects around the home.

The look of the rain gutters is exceptional. I was away when they were installed but my wife raved about how great they looked and upon arriving, I had to agree. Neighbors on both sides have rain gutters that look fine. They're rain gutters after all, kind of an evil necessity. Ours on the other hand, actually add to the aesthetics of our home--they look like crown molding. I couldn't be happier and recommend Custom Solutions to anyone thinking about installing rain gutters. Schedule a quote and you'll see the difference!

The staff and the owner, Sam were very friendly and personable. They made the overall process painless, affordable as well as quick and easy. The explanations regarding the variation in gutter types, equipment, and installation were thorough and detailed but understandable to us laymen. The finished product was of high quality and aesthetically pleasing. Sam even showed up later the same day to double check the work order, proper installation, and measuements.
