Since 1914, Crane of Ukiah, a family-operated company, has been committed to serving Northern California. We are a comprehensive general contractor, whether it’s a multi-million dollar project or a simple remodel. Our goal is to help clients clarify their vision and bring it to life. With A & B Contractors Licenses, we concentrate on Commercial, Industrial, and Institutional projects. We operate a full fabrication and sheet metal shop, boasting a diverse range of tools and skills. We offer drafting services, support project development, assist with site selection, and evaluate options.

After the 1906 earthquake and fire, Myrl R. Crane started his journey in the trades in San Francisco. In 1914, he was involved in public works, constructing 22 schools. His son, Frank M. Crane, who graduated in civil engineering, took over and grew the business. Frank and Douglas incorporated Crane of Ukiah Inc in 1960, moving from public works to private contracts as the main focus. It was during this time that Doug grew interested in manufactured metal buildings. After working on numerous school projects and witnessing the decline in lumber quality, he recognized manufactured metal buildings as the future of low-rise construction. This foresight has been validated over the years. Frank remained involved with the company until his passing in 2002, the same year Doug's son Eric joined Crane of Ukiah. As Vice-President and a fourth-generation contractor, I grew up on job sites. I studied Industrial Technology and Business at the university level.
