My roof in the Sunset District was completed back in 1998 when we purchased the house by County Roofing. Well, over 22 years later, we have not had a single leak. The quality of the work of this family operated business is second to none and my roof is the proof.

I have known for a while that soon or later I would need to have my roof replaced. In the meantime, I have the flat roof checked and maintained periodically. Well, first we had the drought, then we had the flood, and my roof started to leak.

As much as I love the sound and sight of the rain, it terrified me when I first heard and saw water dripping from the ceiling along a high beam onto the hardwood floor in my living room. OMG!!! My roof was leaking under the Spanish tile which had not been touched since my house was built in 1932.

So I sprang into action, and called my contractor friends. One helped me patch the leak, one gave me a referral. And I went on YELP and found a couple more roofers in the CIty that have had good reviews. At the end, I received three bids, including County Roofing, all came in within reasonable range. Somehow, I like James of County Roofing right off the bat and decided to go with his company and gave him the contract in Spring of 2016.

2016 Summer was unusually foggy so James advised me to delay the work until 2017 Spring. I was concerned about not having the roof replaced before the coming rainy season, but James told me to called him if there was any problem. In the meantime, I stayed in touch with James through text since I found it hard to understand him at times when we talked.

Then October came along with the rain, and my roof started to leak again on a rainy Saturday night at 8 pm. I called James, he picked up the phone and told me he would be over the following day. He showed up the next rainy Sunday afternoon, got on the roof, patched and stop the leak for the entire record rainy season.

Today, I am writing this review enjoying the sound of sight of a rainy day again. It took James and his crew three weeks, working on and off between sunny and rainy days, from demolition, to rebuild and retile the entire roof. James and he crews showed up early, worked hard throughout the day, and cleaned up well before they left. Comes to roofing and tiling, James is an artist. He is a perfectionist. He is meticulous. He pays great attention to details. He also listens and attends to all my concerns. And did I mention that he is extremely polite, easy to work with and always with a smile.

Well, good things come to those who wait. It took a while for me to have my roof replaced. But it is simply beautiful and I love it. Thanks James!! NO LEAK!! YEAH!!!

Wonderful service, excellent craftsmanship, and reasonable prices. They did a re-roof on my three story SF Victorian, it has been about 10 years and the roof still looks new. They installed a new roof with complete tear down on my apartment building in the Mission and work was top notch. I wouldn't think of using anyone else.

Exceptional work quality and very professional. I have never had a roofer who took so much care in installing a new roof. James and his crew were on time, hard working, and very polite. Being an elderly woman, I was very pleased that James was very helpful with doing a little bit of extra for me so I don't have to hire someone else to do minor repairs (and it's difficult to find handyman to do minor jobs without being charge an arm and a leg if they are even interested.) BTW, James' price is extremely reasonable and competitive (especially for doing such a nice job).

As the previous reviewer commented, Jame's English is sufficient for most roofing needs but if you need clarifications or more details, his son is always a phone-call away to help.

I have used County Roofing to replace an $85,000 roof on a very large condo. My daughter has used them to replace a $9000 roof and today they completed replacement of a deck membrane for $800. All the work is extremely fastidious and professional. They arrive on time and get the job done, even if it required them to work well after 7 p.m.

I have replaced a lot of roofs in my 72 years, but County Roofing is the best contractor I have hired for anything! I found out about them from my physician who used them to replace two roofs on rental property he owned, and his highest praise was well deserved. They are extremely inexpensive by SF standards and have consistently outbid other offers by 25-35%. They use high quality products, and you get to make the choice on what grade of shingle you want. But even their ""standard"" shingle is a 30 year product.

The only down side is that the owner, Mr. Seau, is from Korea and speaks very little, heavily accented English. He is extremely honest and goes to great lengths to make sure you are happy. But communication is best done by hand gestures! Fortunatley, his son Jay is born and educated in US, so deal with him as the middleman with his father.

My house has a partly flat roof, that was new in 1998. It was a modified bituminous type. We started having leaking problems, so I had 4 roofing companies give me bids to replace the flat roof. James of County roofing made the best proposal, both in terms of the quality of the roof he proposed to install (3-ply bituminous), and the price. He was able to do the work sooner that he originally anticipated, and did a very high quality installation. My neighbor, who is a retired contractor, watched James closely. Even he was impressed with the quality and thoroughness of James' work.

I would recommend County Roofing highly!
