The first time I used Colonial Roofing, they were great! Very responsive, good work, and a fair price. The owners are very nice and easy to work with.

However, the 2nd time I used them to fix a leak near my chimney, Their technician had diagnosed that it needed to be caulked and the flashing trimmed for $350. I agreed, but after they did the work, I still had just as much of a leak during the next rainstorm. When I went up there myself to look, I found that the chimney was not caulked at all, and so I did it myself. Since, then we've had a couple major rainstorms and no leak!

I called the company to let them know. I was trying to be as nice as possible, since they had done good work previously, but they just said that they didn't believe me, and didn't offer any refund or concession or an apology.

So, overall, I think they are good, and this was probably an honest mistake. However, I don't think they listen to the customer much, if you do happen to have a problem with the work later on.

I had a leak in my roof and called Colonial Roofing, on a Thursday, because the had given me a fair price on a repair on my rental home previously. The friendly dispatch lady assigned my repair for Friday or Monday. Within the hour, Joe called me to say he would come out in 30 minutes because it was scheduled to rain the next day. This is top rank service because it was Joes day off and he came in anyways to take care of a customer before the issue got worst. Thank you Colonial Roofing for A+service.

I needed someone to replace some shingles on my roof that were blown off in the recent windstorm.

I called Colonial Roofing up and got a call back within 45 minutes... on a Saturday. They came out to inspect my roof within two hours, on a weekend.

The quote was reasonable and the owner and a crew member fixed my missing shingles in under 30 minutes. Fast and competent, and the owner was friendly enough to chat with me for a few minutes, even though his wife had told me earlier they were extremely busy doing estimates and on the spot repairs all day.

I would definitely call them again should I need another roof repair in the future.

I live in SW Austin, but Colonial covers the whole metropolitan area.

I can repeat what 'Miss Rza M' reported. Colonial did every thing that David, their rep, said they would do. He and Colonial's resident expert met with my insurance company's appraiser to ensure that the damage inflicted by a hail storm a couple years previously was completely evident. They brought brochures to show me what brand of roofing they would be putting on and they never applied any pressure for me to make a decision. These brochures were quite detailed and although I am not by any means an expert, I concluded that the materials they use are of high quality -- definitely not ""builder's grade"" schlock.

Okay, how many times is a homeowner faced with a roof replacement? I would guess that like most people this was the first time I had ever been through the process, and there is very serious coin involved. It certainly eased my anxiety to find David was a great guy to deal with. Not ""slick."" As the job transpired, he was thorough and conscientious.

They started the job on a Friday, but my roof is quite complex and the job could not be properly completed in one day. Rather than do a slapdash job, get their money, and GTH out, they arrived on Saturday morning and worked another 5 hours to finish the task. What more do you need to know to be confident that this company is committed to getting a roof replacement done right? Oh yes, their prices are good, and they did the job at the price they quoted me, despite the fact that they probably underestimated the amount of labor involved.

I had a terrible experience with Colonial Roofing of Austin.

Colonial Roofing of Austin installed a metal roof on my house.

The roof is covered with ugly ""oil canning"" over the entire roof (""oil canning"" is the term to describe dents in metal - what would see if you deformed the surface of a soda can)

I spoke with Colonial Roofing of Austin before they installed the roof and told them that I wanted to minimize the chances of ""oil canning"". They said they had experience in installing metal roofs and convinced me to purchase a thicker and more expensive thickness of metal to prevent ""oil canning"". They did say that some oil canning was possible but that by using the more expensive metal, it would be minimized to smallest extent possible.

Shortly after the installation, the entire roof was covered with ""oil canning"". More ""oil canning"" than I have ever seen on any roof - commercial or residential. Every panel on every roof surface is covered with ""oil canning""

I called Colonial Roofing of Austin out to look at the roof and to my amazement; they stated that the problem is with my house! They say the roof structure is to blame. This makes no sense as the roof is of two vintages - one part from the original construction and another from a renovation done approx 7 years ago. And the original roof is the same age and construction as almost all the roofs in my neighborhood, many with metal roofs that have no ""oil canning"". You would also think that if my roof structure was inadequate, they could have determined this before or during the installation - which they did not.
When I discussed possible solutions with Colonial Roofing of Austin, they said they could re-build the roof structure and put on a new roof - at my cost ! As you would probably agree, having the company that put on such a terrible roof do even more work is a totally unacceptable solution.

So now Colonial Roofing of Austin has my money - and by the way, a metal roof is 3 to 4 times more expensive than a shingle roof - and I have a terrible looking roof. So much for their promise of ""Colonial Roofing of Austin's sales team will oversee all projects to your satisfaction""

So that's my terrible experience with Colonial Roofing of Austin. I hope that my experience proves useful if you are trying to choose a quality, experienced roofing company that will stand behind their work.

I will never use Colonial Roofing again!

I was very happy with colonial roofing. They came when they said they would, they met with our appraiser to ensure that the appraiser saw all of the damages. They showed us what products they would be putting on and they met with us without any high pressure sales. The sales guy actually left, asking us to think about it before we made our decision, and encouraged us to get other bids. We felt that they delivered a great product for a reasonable price. We are very happy that we went with them and would not hesitate to recommend them.
