Working with Colonial Roofing was a pleasure beginning to end. I needed to replace an entire roof and approached the project with trepidation. I am so glad I selected Carl to do the job. The job turned out to be longer and more complicated than anticipated, but everything was handled promptly, professionally and for the contract price. From the permit process to the inspections, Colonial handled everything. The work was first class, and I appreciated the work crews being so reliable, on time, clean, and respectful of my property. Carl at Colonial Roofing has done work for my family since 1995. When my mother had a leak that other roofers didn't seem to be able to fix, Carl fixed it and did a great job. So, when I needed a new roof installed, Carl was one of the people I asked for a bid. In all fairness, Carl was not the cheapest, but I know that if I have a problem in the future he will be there to take care of it, and that is worth lots.

Carl started the job on Monday with a tear off of the old roof. When they finished at 7 pm that evening, the job site was very clean. Yes, I found a few missed nails and a few small scraps of old tar paper, but that's not unexpected when demo-ing 3200 square feet of roof. Today is Saturday, and they are over 50 percent done. The workmanship is beautiful, and every day I come home from work to a clean worksite. They haul it all away--nothing is in my trash cans.

There have been a few issues where custom flashing is needed, and Carl has had to call in a sheet metal subcontractor. This was unexpected, but not one word about ""changed conditions"" and no mention of added costs. He said all flashing was included in his price, and he meant it.

A thing that bugs me about contractors (besides not cleaning up after themselves) is punctuality. This is another thing I don't worry about with Carl. Carl told us that his crew would start at 7:30am and they are at the house at 7:28am, 7:32am which is great. I hate waiting for people to show up.

I also asked him to take care of the expensive rain gutters I installed two years ago (before I knew I had a roof problem). He has taken great care, and they don't even look like they have a scratch on them.
