I'd give zero stars if I could. Stay away!
He came to repair a leak and he just put on tubes of caulking that (a) didn't work and (b) cracked and failed within 6 months. I went on my roof and it was all cracked- and when the roof was warm from the sun the caulking melted!!!!!
I ended up having to rip it all out myself and replace. He came back once and all he did is just apply more of the inferior product. Not only that, he said he would replace shingles and diddnt, he just nailed a piece of metal to the side of my house.

This guy is a fraud. And he charged me $1000!!!!

The only roof he should be in is that of a prison.

We just had Charles Smiley Roofing do a roof repair on our home.
Ours was a difficult problem where the original roof met an addition at what was originally the house edge. The issue had plagued the house for a decade with the two prior owners. Charley diagnosed the issue and explained and showed what he thought needed to be done to seal the issue once and for all.

This is a third generation company started originally by Charley's grandfather in the 1930's. Charley is as experienced, straight forward and honest as you could ever imagine and he did a great job. He did more scope than he had promised to ensure he got the leak as best you could hope for. The proof will be this rainy season but I have the highest confidence that Charley and his crew found the underlying issue and resolved it.

After 27 years in our home in Laguna Niguel we discovered a leak in our roof in the area of one of your upstairs bedrooms. After researching several roof repair companies I was referred to Charles Smiley Roofing and Construction. I called the Company and within 30 minutes of the call Charles Smiley was at my home to look at the roof and provide me with an estimate for repair.

In short order he identified the issue and told me what it would require to repair the leak. Interestingly out of the three roofing companies who came to the house to quote on the roof repair he was the only one who indicated what was required was identical to what a friend of mine, a contractor, had told me when he came by to look at the leak.

I decided to give the repair job to Charles Smiley and he and his crew actually arrived at the house a few days earlier than I originally expected them as we had a forecast of rain and he wanted to be sure that the roof was repaired before it started to rain. He and his crew were very focused and concentrated on getting the repair completed. They actually had to do a little more work than originally planned on the roof to complete the repair and also inspected the entire roof while they were here and fixed a few other tile issues they discovered. The work was completed and even though it required a little more work than expected the charge for the work was the original estimate that was provided. They were very efficient, organized and left the area perfectly clean.

I was extremely pleased with the entire interaction with Charles Smiley and would not hesitate to use the Company again for roofing or other construction issues

I am warning you...stay away from this guy. I caught him in a lie about the ""water test"" he performed and when I refused to pay for the ""water test"" he did not perform he physically threatened me! Not once but several times. Not only that, the quote he gave me was absolutely ridiculous. We ended up getting the job for 1/2 the price he quoted and was very satisfied.
I have owned rental properties for over 20 yrs and have dealt with painters, plumbers and other contractors regularly.... need to warn you about this guy...stay away.
