I scheduled an appointment through Cert-A-Roof and the inspector Sedi came out to the house I was looking to buy. Sedi was on time, respectful, explained everything and answered all the questions I had. He did a very thorough inspection and report. The report helped us with our decision to buy the house. I can tell you that Paul is the most honest guy I've dealt with in an industry like this. He spends an enormous amount of time inspecting your roof and telling you exactly what your options are. He's not pushy, but informative. I will definitely be using him for any and all of my roofing needs!

Paul Watrous, the VP of Operations and the son of Les (who's the owner of Cert-A-Roof) emailed my mom on 2/21/20 based on my below Yelp review. He reached out to my mom (only because he still had her contact information on file) sticking to his guns, trying to save face and telling my mom that my below review was ""slanderous,"" while pointing out how he arrived on time and didn't even charge us. All of the other roofing companies we consulted with didn't charge for an estimate. Again, he's trying to ""spin"" things like he's doing us a favor.

He also stated in this email ""...I indicated that you would need a complete re-felt and if you were not financially prepared for that then to invest as little money as possible with repairs..."" Never once did he say this to us. He told us that any patch job repairs we'd do would just be a waste of money. Period. This company is not honest at all. And being the VP of Operations and the son of the owner, I can only assume he wants to exceed his quarterly goals by scoring the big ticket jobs where his men could get in the most billable hours in as possible.

I felt compelled to write the below review because out of the 6 total roof estimates we got, Cert-A-Roof was the ONLY company that said we'd need an entire new roof. And the ironic thing is that Paul didn't even go up on the roof to look around like the other contractors did! He didn't get out his ladder and physically walk on the roof at all, whereas the other contractors did. He probably saw dollar signs when 2 women answered the door (neither of us wearing a wedding band). And I could tell that he was lying based on his body language alone (e.g., ""...yeah, you guys really, really need a whole new roof..."" while nodding his head the entire time, followed by an awkward pause lasting several seconds while still trying to maintain eye contact, etc).

This isn't like going to get your tires rotated and being told you need new ones, when really you could get a few more thousand miles out of them. No. This is a major, MAJOR expense that isn't even necessary at the moment. I felt compelled to write the below review as my civic duty. Please do your comparison shopping.

Called Cert-A-Roof due to water leaking from our bonus room ceiling. Paul came out and inspected our roof and attic. He wore bootie shoe covers and took numerous photographs. After identifying the cause of the problem, Paul gave us options on fixing it. He didn't pressure us to go with him for the repairs. Instead, Paul completed a detail report with pictures that he said could be used with whomever we decided to go with. My wife and I were impressed with Paul. He was professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. He took his time to explain the problem making it easy to understand. I definitely recommend Cert-A-Roof for anyone with roof problems.

I was referred to Sedi through a neighbor because I was having issues with the roofing company who had done a very poor inspection before purchasing my home. Sedi was able to listen to my concerns and give his professional advice by doing a thorough roof inspection and provide a detailed report. He was right on-time and very careful to wear his shoe covers inside the house. I will definitely hire them to do the inspection for any home I purchase in the future. Oh my goodness!!! Thank you so very much for PJ and the entire Cert-A-Roof team. My father and mother in law bought a definite fixer upper in San Clemente. We had received multiple bids ranging from $65,000-$80,000., then we called Cert-A-Roof based on their reputation for quality, experience & honesty. Paul's inspection Report was thorough and he didn't leave much to the imagination. Originally I called Cert-A-Roof based on a personal referral. They have now done roof repairs on our condo rental and our family home. Both times, each person I dealt with was professional, friendly and responsive. The quality of their work is exceptional. I appreciated that an inspector came and inspected the repairs that were done by their crew before asking for final payment. I am very pleased with Cert-A-Roof and would not hesitate to recommend them.

Update: I spoke to the owner, who fully refunded $300. I could not ask for more. Thank you for reading my review and responding with true professionalism I would consider using their service now. Reversal, successful. Conversion, complete.

Needed my roof looked at for a quote after a leak during a heavy storm. Cert-a-roof quoted me $4,000-7,000 to repair that section of roof or $20,000-25,000 to replace the entire roof, which they stated is in its last couple years before needing replacement anyways. I got a second opinion who said my roof was in great condition and the need repair would only cost $1,000. These guys are crooks upcharging on services and recommending services that aren't needed! Hire at your own risk!!
