We had some roof damage from the recent storm and needed our roof repaired quickly. We decided to replace the whole roof since it has needed it for awhile. Juan and his crew did an excellent job and finished on time as promised (3 days)...and at a great price. My husband is a retired general contractor and has supervised all types of construction in his career. He was very impressed with the quality of work.

I rarely am able to take the time to write reviews, but Juan and his team from proposal to finished new roof did an outstanding job and deserve the recognition. I requested three proposals, and only Juan responded (!), but knew the price was fair and he knew what he was doing. We got the shingle roof and it looks amazing. He made sure our tenants were informed of the job timing, his crew was exceptionally clean on the job site daily, everything was on time and the finished project perfect! My husband is a General Contractor and doesn't give compliments like these lightly, but he was very impressed. I just hope when we need our roof done in San Jose that he isn't too busy for us. Great job!!

I took a shot in the dark and decided to call Gold Shield Roofing to get an estimate on repairing a roof leak that I had in my garage. I was a bit skeptical to call because there was only one review on Yelp, but I'm glad I called. Juan was very professional and paid close attention to my concern with the leak. He went the extra mile and showed me that my roof had other underling issues that could potentially lead to more leaks. He pointed out that the valleys in my roof were not properly installed and that I had some areas that were also leaking, but that were not actively visible yet. His solution was to open up the valleys in my roof to clean up the dirt that was accumulated under the tiles, then he was to replace damaged weather proofing paper, then relay the titles so that the valley gaps were wide enough to allow rain water to wash out the dirt and debris. He also replaced a number of broken tiles that I had not been aware of and he re-calked some areas where cement had weathered away, and he laid lead in some open gaps that were not properly sealed during the initial construction of the roof (some 10+ years ago). He and his assistant were quick and efficient and completed the job in a timely fashion. It rained a couple days after the repair and the leak seems to have been resolved. I had called two other roofers to get estimates ... one roofer (Legacy) was unprofessional and did not was to provide an estimate on a repair because he said that he usually does not do repairs, so I gave him the boot. Another roofer (Earl Deal) inspected and provided an estimate on the area of concern, but he did not point out the other potential problems that I had on my roof. Also I was not present at the time that Earl Deal did the inspection, he told my wife that he would call me right away with the details of his findings, but it took him two days to call me with those details which did not address the other issues that Juan at Gold Shield had identified, so Earl Deal didn't get the job either. The bottom line is that Juan was exceptionally thorough with this inspection, findings, and recommendations. I would definitely recommend Gold Shield Roofing to my friends and family. Juan treats you like family and that's a win-win in my book.

My parents were in need of a new roof and contacted Gold Shield after a neighbor had used them. They gave them a great bid and did the entire roof - including adding two inches of insulation, gutters, sky lights and down spouts - in 3 days. My parents were very happy with the services and work performed by Gold Shield and the excellent customer service given by the owner. I am writing this review on their behalf because they live in the ice age and don't have Internet access. :o)
