I had worked with several contractor that promised that they could work with my insurance company and get the roof replaced at no cost to me. The CB rep never made such a promise, but worked with the insurance company and an independent appraisal. When the insurance company denied the claim, CB gave me an estimate that was only off due to more plywood necessary than originally expected, but the difference was minor. They arrived on time and completed the job on my 4 bedroom home in one day. No trash in the yard and used a magnetic tool to ensure no nails were left in the yard or flower beds. Excellent work.
Wost Experience Ever!!!! They cost us $4,000 in additional damages. They sold us with their great presentation. We were going to get a site supervisor that has multiple sites, but will stop by to check on the job. It started on Monday with a guy knocking on my door asking me to confirm the address since the dumbster was not onsite while another guy was already on the roof. Nobody ever introduce themselves. The material vendor pulled up too far into the house and with the weigth of their truck damage our sidewalk, and driveway. They left a huge hole 5 feet deep by 10 feet long threw four pallets and 4 wood sheets ontop and DID NOT SAY ANYTHING!. They notified the contractor, and they did not say ANYTHING TO US! They all left for the day without saying a word on the job status, or hey their is a big hole under all that trash infront of your front door. The next day they called for final payment and were rude when we brought up the trash, hole, and all the nails. They washed their hands with it was the material vendor and you signed a disclaimer.
We had to buy a magnet to pick up all the nails picture attached. On Friday they called to ask us how the job went. We brought up the issues and they wash their hands again with the disclaimer, and that someone had stopped by that day to pick up the pallets, and plywood. How funny because we were looking at it while they are telling us this lies. They sent us $150 because thats all they can do.
I have a metal roof from CB Roofing - I'm lucky that I do not have any leaks to date.
Very unprofessional - warranty is meaningless.
Salesman tells you anything to get you to sign.
My main concern about replacing my roof was that my Gutters with a anti-leaf system would not be damaged - the pivotal selling point was that my gutters would not be damaged.
Without telling me they totally ripped out my leaf system and collected it - my best guess was for the aluminum.
I have vinyl siding - they butchered it where the second floor meets the roof on my first floor, especially the corners and they got Glue all over the place not even attempting to clean it.
Beware their contract read it all - it has fine print to where they can legally do this without your consent nor will they be liable for any litigation you may want to pursue, if you do it will be at your own cost.
The salesman assured me every employee is / was a company employee that has been vetted and approved to do this type of work.
I am a pro-immigrant equal employer advocate - however not only were they non-English speaking, they were also non-skilled day laborer's given company T-shirts - how do i know this? I spoke to several of them, I know a little Spanish. They would be picked up at a spot in town that day laborer's congregate at.
When confronting the supervisor on the job site he laughed and said good luck with that.
Contacting their main office is a waste of time they do not return your calls.
I would give them a 0 but this site doesn't allow that.
Bernadett C.NO STARS! I'm a senior with disabilities. BEWARE! Bullies! Shoddy work, theft, and an absentee owner, manager and staff who bullies and does not care about their customer. A LIEN placed on my home before work finished! I have been through hell and back with this company and still am. The crew did not replace rotten wood I paid for on a vulnerable skylight that was removed. Without permission while I was at the doctor's office the roofers went into my garage used all of my tools, ladders, drills and electric saw tar on everything at the end of the day, stole my tarp, rake, broke my new expensive cart which I need to carry heavy items. I immediately called the office and threatened to call the police if they did not return my items; secretary ""BRI"" said she would make sure everything was ""returned to me or be reimbursed for items stolen if I did not call the police."" I trusted her she sounded sincere, but it was just to deflect and nothing has been replaced. I desperately need the tarp because water is backing up in my home from a loose gutter. Mr. Bowman said he ""gave me the tarp"" but it's a boldface lie and is deflecting upon the real situation which is the shoddy unprofessional work that was done to my home it's like the worker had no experience at all. They came back twice and the repairs are worse than the first time with issues that would hurt my home allowing water to enter. I contacted ""BBB"" but nothing happened. Mr. Bowman told me ""he would see me in court and it would cost ME thousands to fight against him, it's obvious he has done this to others from the YELP reviews. I asked him to see the shoddy work, he replied ""he's retired and does NOT do that."" Now, I have holes in my stucco, old wood in my ceiling, gutter separated from roof, the repair is like nothing I have ever seen and water can enter my home. The gutter was separated and water is backing up in my home. (video) and I really need that stolen tarp now! I can't load my 40lb of salt. To add insult to injury The manager screamed at me & I'm terrified of him, not listening to my pleas. It's like a game to them. This was the most unprofessional crew I have ever witnessed and Mr. Bowman would not provide their issued roofing license numbers or names so I could make a police report. If you want false promises, shoddy work, and a lien on your home without the work finished then go at your own risk. Please contact me for photos and videos. A new person is taking over the manager's job and coming by on Friday but nothing so far about my stolen items have been addressed. By the way, I contacted 4 companies before I picked CB Roofing, biggest mistake of my life. I'm not going to let Mr. Bowman take advantage or bully me and I'm standing up for myself. Please respond to me at [email protected] YELP my pictures would not load! The pictures are incredible.
Melissa L.This roofing company is by far one of the worst. The neighbor across the street was getting work done by them but they decided to use our driveway and street parking, blocking our cars, trash cans, and mailbox. They are so unprofessional, working early hours of the morning so you can't get any sleep. There's a reason this company does not have more than 1 star rating. It speaks volumes for itself and I would highly advise against hiring them because they have no regard for anyone!
Melinda S.If I could give them LESS than one star, I would. I called CB roofing for an estimate to fix a leak on the east side of my home. They scheduled an appointment for their roofing specialist to come out. When he was more than an hour late for the appointment, I called the company. I got a text from the ""specialist"" saying something had come up, but he could be out in about 30 minutes or I could reschedule. I should have cancelled. When he arrived, he paced around my driveway having a heated conversation on his phone. After about 15 minutes, I went outside hoping to speed up things along. As it turned out he was arguing with this father (the owner of the company) about whether or not little, green, plastic army men could still be purchased in stores. Anyway, he got up on the roof, told me I had a dead zone (I knew this already) and that the current flashing was improperly installed. He suggested that I have the dead zone on the opposite side of the house fixed as well. My greatest concern was that the new flashing would be noticeable from the street. I was assured that it would be undetectable. NOT. He also continued the argument with his father, when he found out I was a school teacher and said my students don't play with the little green army men toy . Extremely unprofessional. When I got home after the repair was made, they had not only put flashing along the dead zones but also across the front of my house. After going back and forth with the project manager and the ""specialist"" (owner's son), they finally came out to remove the flashing on the front of the house, but left some along the side that is noticeable from the street. I also had to purchase paint (about $50) so that they could paint over where the caulking had been on the stucco. When I asked why the side pieces I wanted removed were still there, I was told they ""had to be there."" I don't know why? There was no leak in this area and this is not part of the dead area. I have been left with an ugly mess. This company does shoddy work, and do not stand behind the work they do. I would NEVER hire them again. As a matter of fact, I'm probably going to have to hire another company to fix their mess.
I'm writing this follow up to address work at another house I recently purchased that CB Roofing had replaced the roof on within the last year. I want to emphasize that the work they did on my previous house I am still pleased with, but that's the reason why I engaged them for some work on the roof at my new house, for which my experience was nowhere near as pleasant or acceptable.
The new house i purchased had a solar water heating panel on the roof that was removed prior to CB Roofing replacing the roof last year. However, and for reasons unknown to me, the pipes for the panel were left projecting out of the roof approximately 1 foot. Not only was this unsightly, the penetrations are just one more place for a leak to begin in the future.
As a result, I contacted CB Roofing to come out and give me an estimate on repairing the roof in this area after I had removed the pipes, each taking an area of maybe one shingle tab each. In addition to this repair, I also wanted them to install a Velux tubular skylight dome on the roof, which I would supply.
The estimator came out and was prompt and professional. He advised me that since the work would require a minimal amount of time for them to perform he had some limitations on cost, which I totally understood. In other words, there are jobs too small to be worthwhile from a profitability standpoint - I've worked in the service industry and I completely grasp their position.
With this in mind I also made it very clear that I would work with them as far as scheduling in order for them to be able to do the work at a time when it was most advantageous to them, that is, on very short notice so they could use the job to fill in the remainder of a work day, for example.
He then asked me for a price - what I felt the job was worth. I asked for an idea, he suggested $650, I said $500, he countered at $600 and we came to an agreement.
Then he had to call the office to confirm that a permit was not necessary.
He gets off the phone and tells me that a permit is necessary and it will be $200! He seemed confused and a little distressed by this development. I can understand why, as the County does not require a permit to be pulled for roof repairs such as this - I checked. Not only that, the cost of a permit for a complete re-roof is under $150, so how can a permit for repairs (which doesn't exist, I might add) cost $200?
Needless to say I did not engage CB Roofing for the work I required. I felt they were trying to take advantage of me, or possibly just pricing the job to a ridiculous amount because they didn't want to do it.
Either way, the business practice that they employed in this case was inappropriate and in my opinion bordered on unethical. I'm saddened by this event, as I feel strongly about patronizing businesses who provide good products and services, which I have received from CB Roofing in the past.
I would have preferred that they simply said the job was too small to be worthwhile for them, as I would have understood, rather than trying to take advantage of my loyalty as a customer or gouge me.
Aside from a full roof replacement, we were having a pitch added with foam insulation to a flat section of roof, having two skylights over our lanai replaced, and having our super gutter sealed. We should have had a hint when issues began right away. The sales guy Josh called and said he mis-quoted us on skylights and to get the ones he quoted would cost us an extra $750 or we could choose a lower quality skylight. It just went downhill from there. On the day of the install, we confirmed at least 3 separate times with the crew, who spoke very little English, that they knew of the additional work to be done. We were told yes each time, but had a feeling that no one actually understood what we were asking. We inquired one more time and eventually had the foreman pointed out to us who could communicate with us well enough to let us know they knew nothing about that part of the job and didn't have the materials there for it. Had we not kept on top of the crew, they would have done that whole part of the roof wrong and were planning to reinstall our old skylights. So they had to sit and wait for materials to be delivered. After they finished, we took a look and even knowing nothing about roofing we could tell the pitch was put on the roof badly (there was about a foot wide gap between that section and our regular roof where the shingles were just hanging loosely) and the skylights were clearly the wrong size. (The roof failed inspection due to the pitch problem.) After that things never really improved..... On more than one occasion a crew would show up for repairs (or sometimes not show up), but they wouldn't know what they were there to do and/or again didn't have the materials..... Wrong skylights ordered again..... it was weeks and weeks before they even touched the gutters.... Long story short, 6 months after we signed the contract our roof is finally completed to satisfaction and we have paid the bill. Even that was a poor experience, as we asked if they might show some consideration on the final amount due to the poor experience and not only did they say no, but they tried to deny all the issues or make excuses for them. (I have emails where they contradict themselves, and they even denied that it failed inspection, which is in black and white on the county website!) The only saving grace for this company was that everyone we dealt with did remain professional and courteous, and they did persist with sending out workers until everything was completed to satisfaction, but what a headache to get to this point. (And I also have to wonder if that would have been the case had we paid the bill immediately.) So much of it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. Save yourself the headache and avoid this company.
CB Roofing left my project half completed and required me to do their job by sending pictures to prove job was undone. Are they having problems maintaining their subs? Are they not paying their suppliers? Customer service is awful. Robo letters threatening liens were unnecessarily aggressive - especially when they acknowledged the work was incomplete! It took CBRC 6 weeks to start the job, the subs left before completion (less than 50% complete and with materials left on the roof), I had to call CBRC to ask them to come back and was then asked by CBRC to take pictures of the unfinished roof and pink plastic packages of roofing materials left behind. After almost 100 days since the contract was signed and multiple calls made by me asking for someone to finalize the job - Patrick finally showed up. Do Not Use This Company - customer service is horrific, job is incomplete.
ZERO STARS IF I COULD! If you need a new roof do not use CB Roofing. They ripped a hole in my interior wall which they refuse to pay for. It also took them 8 weeks to finish punch list work which they still didn't do correctly, but I was tired of dealing with them and told them to send the invoice for payment. I received the invoice last Friday. I Mailed a check on Tuesday. Today I get an email and a voicemail saying they are going to lien my property or send me to a collection agency for non-payment! It was 4 days. Absolutely unprofessional and insulting.
