A J.I had two big leaks inside, and had three companies give me bids to put in a new roof. I had a friend look all bids over with me, and Castle keep coming up as the best choice. Castle handled the house roof, the garage roof and the interior drywall removal, paint, etc., and they did a GREAT JOB. Hannah is a dream to work with, The crew picked up all of the gack left in the yard as they went. As this was my first experience with redoing a roof, I couldn't ask for a better company to handle it. Thanks, Castle!
Keturah H.I just got a new roof and I was dreading this. I knew absolutely nothing about the process, materials or time it would take to get this done. I also work from home so having someone working on the roof for too long would've been a huge inconvenience. The Castle team was fantastic. The workers showed up 7:30am and worked until dark. The entire process took a little over 2 days and they did an amazing job with the clean up. My new roof looks great and I even got a warranty on their work.
Kate M.We just had our roof redone with Castle. We consulted with two other companies and we picked Castle because they had the best/most responsive customer service (Hannah is awesome) and their processes were really efficient. Within two weeks of the initial estimate we had a new roof. The price was also really great! I don't often review things but Castle was AWESOME so I felt the need to share!!
Hannah was very professional when scheduling my appt. The guys came out and worked until the job was done. I haven't had any problems yet, but I know if I do someone will be dispatched to correct the problem.
Bill C.Castle Roofing: Mr Ric Thomas in the San Antonio area represents Castle Roofing. I must say that I am especially pleased that either Mr Thomas or one of his associates was present at our house during almost all of the re-roofing activity thereby removing significant homeowner stress. The crew and the supervisors were very knowledgable and most pleasant to work with. (Low stress.)
The job took slighly longer than projected and the crew corked in the cooking heat of our dark roof in August without complaining. The job was completed last evening and looks very good. The site was cleaned at least as well as by previous roofers at our house. This is our fourth re-roofing in forty years of living here - so I would add that ths s not our first time around the block. I initially gave a four star rating because of a very small concern about our drip edge.
In addition: My mother lives a few blocks away and was frantic to get her roof repaired as roof was leaking through the ceiling. Castle Roofing was recommended to her by a friend and she likes the job they did. She recommended them to me. So, let's change from Four Sars to FIVE STARS.
Susan G.We recently had some ""storm chaser"" type roofing company in our neighborhood which prompted us to get additional roof replacement quotes.
Our first contact with Castle was Mark Lee. He was seamless ,professional and expeditious . The quote given was inline with another company that we interviewed but with Marks swift communication skills we chose Castle.
We were put on the schedule right away and the crew completed our roof in one day which I'm sure can't always be the case but we got lucky. They worked hard all day and stayed until at least 7:00 pm getting the job completed and cleaning up our property.
We were VERY impressed from beginning to end with Castle.
Nkenge G.After heavy, flash flooding last week and my third leak (in three different places) over the past 10 years, I looked for a roofer. After the first leak, I'd called Allstate. The adjuster said flatly, ""The roof isn't leaking"". Okay... Fast forward eight years later and now my fireplace was leaking as was my bathroom ceiling. I looked on Yelp for the companies with the highest and most reviews.
The Good:
Castle Roofing gave me an appointment the same day! The crew was timely, courteous and professional. They went into my attic and then up on the roof. The entire process took about thirty minutes. They said I needed nail pops repaired, 2 to 3 migrating shingles replaced, my dryer vent replaced, my chimney sealed and an ice and water barrier installed. They may as well have been speaking Chinese! (I don't speak Chinese). The quote was $885 but they seemed trustworthy and I was desperate!
The Bad:
There was a tiny bit of pressure. He said, ""I can get you in on Friday if you sign today"" pen in hand. It almost worked. But a small voice said, ""You know better than that."" Then she screamed, ""Get a second opinion!"" Then it got bad. I called Castle and I was told there's no warranty on their service. ""Roofs are kind of like cars,"" the sweet receptionist said, ""they're unpredictable."" But after I insisted, she did say they'd come out if it started leaking again. ""They'd come out."" Not that they'd fix it. I don't know if that's standard practice but my antennas went up.
The Double Check:
To silence my inner critic, I called two more companies. First I called Bell Roofing and asked in general how much it would cost to replace a dryer vent. They wouldn't give me a quote over the phone and they were booked up until late June. Then I called Roberts Roofing and told him about the leaks. He gave me a quote of about $350 over the phone which I appreciated. I knew he couldn't be sure until he came and surveyed the damage but it was worth making an appointment. Then I sent a text to my peeps. A family friend recommended Pablo, an independent contractor who'd done an excellent job and charged the best price. He came out today.
The Ugly:
Pablo found the exact same problems as Castle. And he quoted me $250! That's right, $250 to do the same repair job. Since Castle doesn't even warranty their work, why would I pay them an extra $635? And even though I'm by no means an expert, a quick Google search of an 'ice and water barrier' said it's an unnecessary expense in most climates.
I'm not saying Castle is unscrupulous. And I won't accuse them of taking advantage of vulnerable women (at least women who look vulnerable). But I will say that I won't be using their services and I cannot in good faith recommend them to anyone else. Why not? Because I'm unbought and un-bossed. You can take that to the bank!
On a final note: As much as I enjoy writing reviews I don't do it for the glory. Elites don't get paid and I certainly don't take any pleasure in maligning a company's reputation. Out of my 173 reviews, only 16 are one star. I write reviews because it is important to have a voice and to be able to make informed decisions when it comes to spending those hard earned dollars. I fairly and accurately depicted my experience with Castle just like I do with all of my reviews. It's not something I take lightly.
As far as Pablo, my roof turned out great! His number is (404) 484-5453.
Keep Yelping!
Jen B.THANK YOU, Castle Roofing, for living up to my expectations of what a 5 star company should be. I can't say enough good things about this company. It all starts with customer service which was stellar from day one with Carlos and Hannah.
The only hurdle with Castle was the horrible weather ATL has been having lately. Amazingly Castle was able to work me in (between the raindrops). My new roof was completed in 2 days and I couldn't be happier.
To anyone looking for an honest and professional roofer to do hesitate to call Castle.
M M.My interaction with Castle continues to be excellent. My issues with my roof are still going on almost three weeks later, and Mark Lee has gone above and beyond to provide me with great customer service. If you want an honest professional company for your roofing needs, than Mark & Castle are it.
When looking around for a new roof, we made a point of not choosing a cheap roofer, going with Castle and paying that extra money for the premium roof and job. I didn't check Angie's List and see the long list of F-rated reviews, I only saw the 5-star reviews on Yelp. My wife & I are incredibly disappointed with Castle, and if I had my time again I would have chosen another roofer to do the right job the first time for less money.
Over the course of the new roof install, Castle Roofing and their crew lied to me repeatedly, breached their own contract, only assigned 1/3 of the crew after the first day (turning a 2-day install into an 8-day install incl. two rain days) and replaced premium materials specified in our contract with cheaper substitutes. Including the 8-day install it was 49 days from the first shingle being ripped off to the last repair made and final check handed over.
Towards the end I thought there was a glimmer of redemption when we discussed two separate problems - they informed me about them and we talked me through solutions. But, like everything else, both turned into disasters as I noticed they did the exact opposite of what we agreed they would do. One item they did come back and pull it all off on Day 9, but the other could not be fixed without damaging the wall so we agreed to leave it.
An apology on Day 7 from the owner was appreciated, but that call was merely that, just a phone call. They sent a new crew to fix what had been done, but when the new crew started to contradict each other on what repairs they had actually made, and then pushed back on fixing damage they caused, I lost complete faith in them too.
They do deserve 1-star because when we had a leak scare on a rain day during the install they were at my house 7am the following morning ready to deal with it.
I'm lost on how a company like Castle can be certified by a major manufacturer like GAF and I intend to share my experience with them. I'm nervous about what warranty support will be like from Castle. Those roofers that told me manufacture certification is just marketing nonsense are obviously right.
After all those stressful days and then weeks, when it came time for the final 50% payment I was offered two free pieces of plywood as compensation, a discount of $90.
I live in a fairly close-knit community in Atlanta, we all know each other and all the houses were built at the same time (circa 2000). Over the course of those weeks, three homeowners approached me while I watched the roof go up, two more on email, asking who was working on my roof because they wanted to avoid them. I told them Castle and yes, there's a reason they never put a sign on my yard.
