AJ of CAP Metal Build is, hands down, the most responsive and cooperative contractor we have ever hired, or even met. He is organized, knowledgeable, and most importantly trustworthy. If you are feeling unsure about hiring him, especially if you've had some disappointing experiences with contractors in the past, I want to share our story to put your mind at ease. Before we met AJ, we had requested proposals from 7 other roofing contractors! The majority seemed confident in their ability to provide us with a shingle roof but were less knowledgeable on standing seam metal roofs. We are the kind of people who do extensive research before making decisions, and we had decided that standing seam metal was our top choice for our mid-century house with a low slope roof. We understood that standing seam metal roofs are more complex and time-consuming to install and require an experienced crew. The contractors we consulted either did not give us confidence in their ability to install metal roofing or they were sheet metal experts who would leave us to organize other contractors for demolition, plywood replacement, and obtaining the permit.

We felt stuck in our contractor search until I reached out through the Metal Roofing Alliance and found AJ. He was quick to respond and demonstrated his knowledge of metal roofing and what would be required for our low slope roof. I will admit that I was still skeptical. Clearly, he was an excellent salesman, but would his crew deliver? As we proceeded with the details of the proposal, AJ gained our trust with his responsiveness to all our questions and concerns. He gave us direct and honest answers and never made us wait long for a response. His recommendations were practical, and he was upfront with us if he didn't know the answer and would consult the manufacturer first. When we expressed interest in a unique underlayment that we had read about, AJ researched it and found a source for it. No other contractor compared to AJ. We decided to take a chance on him.

AJ continued to prove himself after we signed the contract. He stayed on top of the permit, ordering the materials, and scheduling the sub-contractors. He never once left us hanging. We always knew the status of our permit, and the delivery and sub-contractor schedules. He made an excellent choice on the sub-contractor who removed our old shingles and inspected and replaced the roof decking. His own crew, who installed the standing seam metal roof, was friendly and cooperative. They did have to return to correct some errors. This was not entirely unexpected for us, given the complexities involved with installing a mechanically seamed metal roof on an older home. One of the reasons we chose to hire AJ is that we believed he would come through for us if there were any problems, and he did. He was cooperative and remained just as responsive as he was before we signed the contract, assuring us that his crew would return to make the corrections. They did return, and with the same level of friendliness and eagerness as the first time, they addressed every single one of our concerns.

In the end, we have a beautiful standing seam metal roof with all the details we expected. Neighbors are still slowing down to admire our roof! We have met with and worked with a lot of contractors since purchasing a house built in 1958, and honestly no one compares to AJ. We highly recommend CAP Metal Build!

I worked with AJ over the course of just over 6 months to re-roof my home with a standing seam metal roof from McElroy metals, and I could not be more pleased with the end result!

Finding a knowledgeable, reputable, and service-oriented metal roofing contractor is quite the challenge in southern California, as these sorts of roofs are rather uncommon in residential settings. My education and journey towards deciding to re-roof my home with a standing seam metal roof started on Youtube, which led me to Matt Risinger's videos on the subject, and subsequently to the Metal Roofing Alliance's website, which is how I came to be introduced to AJ and CAP Metal Build.

As I went through the bidding process with AJ, I came to realize that he was not only patient and responsive, but also dedicated towards ensuring I was completely satisfied. He catered to various requests of mine spanning from installation methods, building materials, and even delivery logistics.

AJ reached out to an alternative metal roofing manufacturer that I had expressed interest in and was able to work with them to procure a shipping quote. He provided the addresses of a couple of prior customers of his in the area that I could go visit and interview. AJ later modified his bid to include usage of an underlayment material I had done research on and expressed interest in using. AJ worked to ensure the delivered materials would not be sitting on my driveway blocking out my vehicles for longer than a week.

During the installation process, his crew were polite, efficient, and installed my new roof with an attention to detail that blew me away. After the roof was installed, I raised a concern about the way the ridge vent covers were installed, and AJ delivered once again. He reached out to the metal manufacturer to confirm the detail I had raised, and, after validating it with them, agreed to come back and install with new parts and also incorporate a cosmetic detail I had requested.

To me, the making of a great service provider is less about how they handle good situations, and more about how they handle difficult ones. AJ showed me time and time again through his actions that he cared about providing an excellent roofing service, despite having to deal with a more inquisitive customer than normal. I needed a new roof, especially after getting hit with last year's atmospheric downpour. Feeling uneasy my roof wouldn't make it through an El Niño winter, I was in search of a new one. I came across CAP Metal Build through the Metal Roofing Alliance, a nonprofit association with a ton of information on metal roofs. I gave AJ a text and immediately was on the phone with him to set up an appointment to meet to go over the whole process. It took about a month for all the materials and a week for installation. AJ and his team were professional and knew what they were doing. My new roof looks awesome. It's modern and sleek, and the first in my neighborhood! Metal roofs are slightly more expensive than shingles, but lasts 20 years longer. You pay for what you get, and what I got was a job well done. Thank AJ for my cool looking roof!

The storm is upon us! Roof is leaking? Call A. J. That's what I did 4 months ago. Although generally there is a wait, sometimes, due to so many people on waiting list to get their roof fixed, I would still go with A. J. knowing that he'll do a good job and get my leaks resolved. I am really happy to use the right company for a headache (roof leak) that went on for more than a decade. All because I didn't know whom to trust. After this time, I'm all set with A. Wanted to get solar for our home which had a 20+ year old roof which would not last with a new solar installation. Decided to get a new roof to help passively cool in the summer so decided to get a white metal roof (highest SRI). Found AJ through his companies affiliation with McElroy roofing manufacture and couldn't have been happier. The timing & estimates on the roof installation were spot on and installation was very fast. I had him also install the solar which was also installed in a timely manor and came out aesthetically pleasing (was worried about the white roof and black panels wouldn't look good). AJ specifically is very communicative, fast responding, and will work with you. Will be recommending CAP Metal Build's and AJ to friends/family.
