Since he was a child, Scott has had a keen interest in understanding how things operate. He would borrow his father's tools to fix bicycles, excelled in home repairs, and thrived in woodshop projects. When he entered the workforce, he gravitated towards the construction field. Since 1988, Scott's Construction Services has operated in the Coachella Valley. While working at a client site (Kmart center), he noticed that over 100,000 sq. ft. of roofing was approaching the end of its lifespan. He investigated the possibilities of roof restoration and upkeep rather than standard replacement. This led to the founding of California Cool Roof Coatings. During the initial year, he hired a roofer for small repairs and roll coating. In year two, he rented spray equipment and started performing his own roof repairs. In year three, he bought multiple large spray rigs. By the fourth year, he obtained an additional sprayer and secured a C-39 roofing classification license.
