From a young age, Scott has been fascinated by how things function. He frequently used his father's tools for bike repairs, did well with home maintenance, and excelled in woodshop classes. Scott found his way into the construction industry when he started working. Since 1988, Scott's Construction Services has operated in the Coachella Valley. During a project at the Kmart center, he observed that more than 100,000 sq. ft. of roofing was nearing its final phase. He investigated the possibilities of roof restoration and upkeep rather than standard replacement. This led to the founding of California Cool Roof Coatings. In year one, he brought in a roofer for basic repairs and roll coating. By the second year, he acquired spray equipment and took on his own roof repairs. By year three, he had purchased several large spray rigs. In the fourth year, he purchased another sprayer and added a C-39 roofing classification to his contractor's license.
