Let me start by saying this is my personal experience with this company. Well this is going to be a very long and detailed review. I'm going to start by saying we found Cali Built Construction on Angie's list. Gregory Figueroa is a licensed contractor in the state of california. We got 3 estimates and I decided on Greg. It seemed like he knew what he was talking about when it came to a full remodel of my home inside and out. He asked for 10% so I gave him a check for10,000 to start the project. He started the project on Feb 7th demolished my kitchen living room and then asked which restroom did I want him to start on. I asked how long it would be to start on the bathroom with the shower and he answered a week. So I responded go ahead just make sure it gets done because that's the bathroom that my 85 yr old mother uses. He said sure no problem. So he started on the demolition of the bathroom. I also asked that I wanted my interior walls smooth he said that would extra I said fine. His drywaller Carlos comes in for 6 days only drywalls the living room and hallway and one bedroom. Sands it then primers it. 3 different guys came in to paint. The 1st painter was here for 2 days painting I told him and Greg it doesn't look right. There's lines and dents on the walls and it didn't look smooth. So he continued to band aid the walls with paint. Another guy shows up for 2 days and continues to paint over the first 2 coats. I'm like I still see dents and lines. He's gone and an older man paints again so my wall maybe have 5 to 6 coats of paint. And there's still dents and lines. So then im told to go around with a pencil and circle all the defects which is basically everything. Until today Feb 25 2022 I have circles that I did on my walls because it was never fixed. And no full bathroom when he said it was going to take a week. It gets worse he removed the roof Feb 8th he never mentioned he needed a permit for the roof so now that I'm getting estimates everybody is asking if I have a permit and I said no. So we have no roof on our hpuse. With my poor mother worried about the high winds and chances of rains the weather people keep mentioning. So for 3 weeks now no roof and no full bathroom no kitchen flooring no living room flooring and left with a terrible paint job. Our home basically feels uninhabitable. And no contract between us and no payment schedule. In 3 weeks he made 20,000.00 from me and completed nothing. Then he still had the balls to ask for more money for supplies and to pay his so called crew. Which never existed I feel like he found them at home depot parking lot not trying to be mean but everyday it was someone different. Then I found out today that I should've checked if he had a license or permit to work in Oxnard California. So I called the city of oxnard and they told me he has no license here and would need to obtain a permit to work in my home. SO PLEASE BEWARE OF THIS LICENSED CONTRACTOR GREGORY FIGUEROA. Do not use him for any of your construction needs. And if you do hold on tight to your checkbook and please make sure there's a payment schedule and when he completes a project pay him if you feel comfortable. Oh almost forgot he also needed to obtain a permit for the remodel of my full bathroom. 0 stars for him.
