We interviewed 5 roofing contractors. Bids range from $3k to $8k. Steve Kim was the only contractor that looked at the entire roof, quoted an estimate and followed up with a contract. He was the most honest and professional contractor.
He worked around our schedule and his crew completed the job ahead of schedule. I highly recommend Steve Kim and his staff (who did an outstanding job cleaning up after they finished the roof job).

Had CALbest replaced my mother's roof earlier this month. From the start, communication was great--Steve was super responsive! He answered all my questions, usually within the same day. He sent BEFORE and AFTER photos of the job site. On the first day of the job, he called to keep me abreast of the situation. The cost was exactly as the estimate, no last-minute surprises!

We also had Steve assessed our roof. He told us that ours was good for another 5-7 years, with pictures to back up his assessment. Another roofer gave a totally different story. Steve could easily give a different recommendation; except he was honest. Will definitely use CALbest when it's time to replace my roof.

We had a small leak in the roof of our sunroom. After going through reviews for various roofers, we found CALbest roofing and gave them a call.

I spoke to Steve, explained the situation and he came out (on time), assessed the roof and the leak, and gave us estimates for various levels of fixes.

Even though we opted for a less expensive option (and consequently not as lucrative as a larger job), Steve was super responsive throughout the scheduling process, showed up exactly when he said he would, fixed the issue in under an hour (along with patching up another spot before it became an issue, at no additional cost), and provided photos and an invoice for the work.

In summary, I definitely recommend CALbest and Steve if you need work done on your roof!

We hired Steve to fix our leaking chimney and gutters in last October. He did a terrible job on the gutters and left an old material on the roof. I tried calling him many times to come back and fix it. He blocked my number so I told my husband to use his phone to call. Steve answered. He told my husband he will come but he doesn't know when he will have time to come because he is very busy right now. He never showed up until now. I had to hire a different company to fix the gutters and cleaned up his trash on the roof. I don't understand why he has many good reviews. Unfortunately I'm not happy with his service :-(

I contacted Steve, the owner, through Yelp for a quote of a roof replacement and he came to meet us for an estimate.

We decided to go with Steve because of how professional he was. Steve was very transparent with what we needed, and answered all of the questions we had for the project.

Like all the reviews say, Steve was very responsive and there was excellent communication throughout the entire process. The roof replacement was for my parents house and I could not be there during the project because of work, so Steve communicated the progress with me AND my mom. He sent before and after pictures of the project and the new replacements we needed.

Steve's team was also very professional and efficient. They finished our project in 4 days!

We bought our house two years ago and the inspector told us we were due for a new roof. I got 3 estimates and Steve's came in at a very reasonable cost with enough options for extras or to pair the cost down. With the other companies, I would get the office manager or an estimate guy, amd sometimes waited several days for a call/email back. But Steve who owns CalBest, came out himself to give the estimate and was available by cell throughout the project.

His team was super kind and professional, came out at 7:30am every morning and had excellent communication throughout the whole project. We have a super high condo and they had to access the roof through our house and through my toddlers room, the guys took their shoes off, covered the carpet and took special care of our home.

They found dry rot, replaced it, cleared out our gutters and went above and beyond our expectations. No surprises and the whole project was done in 4 days. Steve even told me he was booked a month or two out, but when I told him we might have conflicts with travel, he called back to say he had a gap in projects and could start the next week. Very pleased overall, highly recommend!
