I had a somewhat positive experience with CALbest, though it was a bit frustrating along the way. I had a skylight in my house that needed to be replaced. After getting quotes from several companies, CALbest was the best offer. I also liked how well Steve explained the state of my roof and what needed to be done, and invited me up alongside him to show me himself.

The actual work and skylight were good, but the communication between picking them and the work was extremely frustrating. After telling them I wanted them to do the work, they texted me when they wanted to come over to do it, but didn't respond to my text asking to confirm the date. They proceeded to move the time they were coming over 5 consecutive times, holding me in limbo for a long time. The work was going to spill into my baby's nap window, so I asked them to come back later, and fortunately they were able to wait until he was up. Though the price and work was good, it's hard for me to recommend them to others given how difficult communication was, but it's possible that they were just having an off day that day.

I haven't written much about businesses I like but I want to let you know about Cal Best Roofing.
Prompt, curteous and efficient is my knowledge of Steve the owner.
I had maintenance done on my old Modified Bitumen roof to keep it in good shape by Cal Best Roofing.
I asked Steve if I needed a new roof but he told me if there were no leaks I could go ahead with a bond primer and two coats of Elastomeric Coating saving this
senior alot of money.
A one day job in writing for me before our rainy days.
Clean up totally and no problems.

CALbest replaced my 24 year old, leaking tar and gravel roof with a modified bitumen roof. The owner of CALbest, Steve, performed the estimate. He provided an honest assessment of my roof, and even noted that the carport roof didn't need to be replaced at this time. Steve's knowledge and integrity were evident during the estimate visit.

During the job, Steve and his crew were on-time, professional, and responsive to requests and questions. Steve checked-in on the work regularly. During and after the work, the job site was cleaned up well. The permit and city inspections were handled professionally by Steve.

Home repairs are always stressful and often come with surprises that make you want to pack up and move mid project. Roof replacements are especially anxiety-inducing since you can't easily see what's happening up there. That's why it was important to me to find someone I could trust to not only do the job right, but also keep me informed every step of the way. Thankfully, Steve and his crew at CALbest delivered exactly that.

I contacted seven different roofing companies and chose CALbest because of Steve's extensive knowledge, customer-centric approach, comprehensive quote, and honesty. He took the time to diagnose the problems with my old tar and gravel roof, walk me through his assessment and recommendations, and answer every single question I had (there were a LOT!). Steve even advised against replacing certain things that still had plenty of life left, while many of the other roofers simply quoted me the additional cost.

That level of care and attention continued throughout the entire project (roof replacement inclusive of shingles and skylights). Steve and his crew were punctual, sent pictures of the progress, promptly responded to my questions, worked with me on hurdling some surprises, cleaned up debris daily, and completed the job within the quoted timeframe. A few above and beyond moments worth highlighting: whenever the crew saw me, they made a point to come down from the roof to check if I had any concerns. And when we discovered that a smaller skylight was needed than what was initially planned, Steve proactively reduced the final bill--something he could have easily overlooked or not have mentioned at all. That kind of integrity and thoughtfulness is really hard to come by these days and truly sets them apart.

Overall, I am very pleased with how everything turned out and would highly recommend Steve and his crew at CALbest.

I highly recommend CALbest if you're in need of roof work. A portion of my roof was in dire need of repair and after contacting eight different roofing companies, I chose CALbest and I'm glad I did. Timely response and inspection with an honest assessment! CALbest Roofing responded to my request for a roof inspection and estimate in a very timely manner. Within a couple of days, they came out to my property to inspect my roof, and determined my roof had several years left before I needed to replace it. And recommended that I have my gutters and downspouts cleaned in the meantime. I was extremely relieved because earlier in the week another person had recommended that my roof be replaced soon.

Of all the vendors I reached out to, he was the most proactive with follow ups and stayed true to the original scheduling he had communicated. His team was great - they cleaned up, sent daily pictures of the progress, and were professional and minimally disruptive throughout the whole job.
