Company Overview

C. E. Bourne, Sr. established C. E. Bourne Sheet Metal Works in Greenwood, SC in 1906 after purchasing the tinware and sheet metal business from J. W. Sproles. C. E. Bourne, Sr. gained valuable experience as a roofing and sheet metal mechanic at J. W. Sproles, where he worked from 1889 until his own business was established.

The firm has remained in the hands of the Bourne family for 105 years. C. E. Bourne, Jr. led the business until 1971, followed by C. E. Bourne, III, who continued until 1982. The business was incorporated in 1984 by Ted S. Bourne, who named it C. E. Bourne & Co., Inc., and he managed it until June 2001. Judy D. Bourne is the current owner and manager, leading the company as a woman-owned enterprise.
