Recommended Customer Reviews

I originally gave Bob a 5-star review but, to be fair to those who put as much stock in these reviews as I do, I felt compelled to append. The Estimate And Proposal stated ""Plastic attic areas of house and cover garage contents prior to roof removal."" I made a point of telling Bob that I had a very old gas heater in the attic and was very concerned about debris from the wood shake tear-off. He failed to lay down the plastic as specified and I only knew this because the workers inadvertently disconnected my alarm wire and I had to go into the attic to troubleshoot the problem. I mentioned in my other review that Bob's crew picked up the debris to my satisfaction but I now discover they only addressed the area that would be easily visible from the attic access. I am now in the process of replacing the old insulation and have found a ton of debris from the old roof everywhere else. Had he done his job, the attic would be free of debris and the insulation would have been salvageable. In addition, shortly after the installation of the new roof, I inspected the rain gutters and found that parts of the gutter were not even connected to each other and other parts were hung improperly so that water pools. When I brought this to Bob's attention, he said his guys were in a hurry because they had another job and the homeowner was becoming impatient. I have a fairly elaborate drainage system to take all the water from the gutters and channel it off the property because of past flooding. I explained this to Bob before giving him the job and was prepared to hire someone to re-hang the gutters if he had said his crew was not capable of doing this part of the job properly. He did send a gutter hanger who blamed my drainage issues on debris in the gutters. He cleaned the gutters and left.
If you decide to use this contractor, be sure you stay on top of the processes that are not strictly roofing.

I was looking for bids on a complete reproof, and was given this business's number. I called and left a message asking if they could give me an estimate and no one ever called back.
He must not want business too bad.

I have to counter some of the negative reviews Bob got on here. our experience with Bob Anderson was outstanding. Bob re roofed our house about 3 years ago. Our insurance company said we had to put on a new roof or get canceled. Bob came out to give a quote. We had several from other contractors. He said I had another 3 or 4 years before we needed to put on a new roof, and said he would write a letter to the insurance company and tell them the condition of the roof was good for another 3 or 4 years. I called the insurance company and told them what the Bob had said. The insurance company said no way, new roof. Needless to say we had Bob install the new roof. The job he and his workers did was great. On time, fast, painted all the flashings and vents to match the roof.

Bob is friendly and punctual.
He is also the best 'bang for the buck'. Every time I got other quotes, I wasn't sure of the quality I would get - and this is somewhere you don't want to skimp. Trust me! I've made that mistake.
Hire Bob, you won't be sorry!

Bob Anderson had been our Family Roofer for literally DECADES! He was the one single ""constant"" in home repairs that one could really count on. His work was fast, first rate, and professional. . . Until suddenly, it no longer was any of those things.
Bob re-roofed two of our three roof levels (the third did not require any repairs/replacement), and soon after he had completed the job, some of the new roof's flashing came loose. I called Bob and he answered promptly, came right over, fixed the loose flashing - or at least SAID that he had fixed it -- and left.
Shortly after this, the house was in the process of being sold, and it was discovered that more, and more serious roof issues had developed in the newly-replaced roofing.
Bob Anderson was called, and, again answered promptly, giving a several-hundred dollar quote for the needed repairs, as well as one change that was requested by the buyers, and which had nothing to do with the roof's warranty.
When I told Bob that the repairs should be covered as they were well within the period of his stated written warranty, Bob Anderson COMPLETELY DISAPERED!
I have called and emailed Bob Anderson many times since - all ways that he quickly communicated through before - and to absolutely NO RESPONSE!
I would NEVER use the services of BOB ANDERSON ever again, and would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST ANYONE ELSE WHO MAY BE CONSIDERING DOING SO!
I would NO LONGER RECOMMEND BOB ANDERSON UNDERANY CIRCUMSTANCES, and would WARN AGAINST ANYONE WHO MIGHT CONSIDER HIS SERVICES.

Although I had read and heard positive reviews about Bob Anderson roofing in the past, my experience with him has not been positive. I contacted Bob Anderson roofing a couple of months ago to obtain a bid to re-roof my home in Belmont Shore. I spoke with Bob Anderson himself who said he would inspect the roof and get back to us with a bid within in a couple of weeks. Well it's been a couple of months since then, and despite our many attempts to reach him by phone and leaving several voice messages for Bob, we never heard back from him. So unfortunately, their failure to do what they say leaves us with no other choice but to assume they are an unreliable company that chooses to not fulfill their commitments. If the owner conducts himself in this manner, how can we trust anyone at Bob Anderson roofing to do work on something as important as our home. We are going to move forward with an alternative company that does what they say they are going to do.

We used Bob to replace the roof on our home about 8 or 9 years ago. It consisted of the main house, a guest house, and a game room/garage combo. We had 5 bids and although Bob was the most expensive by just a bit we liked what we saw and went for it. We couldn't have been happier and have made a better choice! 6 months later, a neighbor across the street got a bid, had it done by someone else, and then came over to me and told me he should have gone with Bob also, a classic tale of ""buyer's remorse."" He had paid about $1 million for that home and now the roof looks like a budget job.
So when it came time to re-roof my father-in-laws house we called Bob and no one else for a bid. He did the house and garage in Lakewood in 3 days and we are all absolutely thrilled once again with the professionalism and quality of his work. He is up on the roof working with the installers and oversees the jobs himself.
As some of the other Yelpers mentioned, you pay South Coast Shingle for the materials up front and pay Bob when he is done.

Bob's crew did a nice job on my roof. They were quick and cleaned the area up good. The only thing I wished I knew is that the crew removed the rat proofing wire along the vents and did not tell me, until I had an attic problem. I would have had someone out to correct what was removed had I known. But, still I would recommend him.

Bob Anderson is a great roofing contractor.
Reliable. Experienced. Honest. Great workmanship.
Competitive pricing.
Recommend highly.

Bob Anderson and his crew replaced my cedar shingled roof with Cedarlite and did a GREAT job.
They tore off the old roof, added 3 skylights, did some work on my chimney, showed up on time, left the job site immaculate and finished the job on time and under the estimated cost. Bob was on site throughout the job and really a pleasure to work with.
Bob Anderson is the best roofing contractor around. Seriously.
I have worked with several roofing contractors. Bob Anderson is the ONLY one that
I recommend.
