Roof got hit by hail three days before closing. I saw a recommendation on Facebook for Westley Heaney with Bestex Solutions Roofing. Called him and he came right out. Due to my circumstance he got me right in and got my roof and gutters replaced in between all the rain. Westley kept me updated the whole step of the way, always returned all my text, phone calls and emails right away. Helped me through all the paperwork process with my insurance company. Someone from BesTex (Adam Smith is the name on the card) was just walking around on our roof without permission; he told my daughter (who answered the door, since she is at home for virtual school because of the pandemic) that he had to look at the roof. Shame on you! You were trespassing and it was extremely disruptive -- our dog went nuts because a stranger was on our roof and my kids and I were all trying to work/go to school virtually. I can't imagine why you thought that stunt would get you business.
I was shocked when I found out that an invoice of completion was sent to the insurance company and Bestex was paid out on my project. It is completely unethical of a company to KNOW a job is incomplete, repeatedly not follow up when promised but still find it acceptable to collect a check. The incredible lack of service, professionalism, responsiveness, workmanship, and respect is not only frustrating for me as a new homeowner, but is a direct reflection of the poor leadership and management they have in this company. My roofing project started a day late. Right off the bat, the carelessness of the crew responsible for the tear off left my AC unit covered with debris for several hours until I returned to the house to find the AC no longer working and ran outside to get them to immediately remove the debris. Attempts to get the AC to turn back on were unsuccessful and the house was now 90 degrees inside. A rep was sent and contacted an AC tech to come examine the unit. They claimed it was the thermostat and replaced it with a new one but the unit was working just fine before that. The AC tech we contacted said it has likely shortened the life of the unit and the roofer who chose the technician that came out and even he admitted to me that the first techs he contacted stated that the unit would need to be replaced.
Once the roofing shingles were ""completed"", there were several areas that were very poorly done and the gutters had not yet been installed.The Title Company agreed to hold the check until the work was done.I contacted the rep again on July 6, 2020 to see when they would be back to do the gutters. He responded on the same day and said he would check and let me know. I never heard anything. I reached out again on July 7, 2020 and he did not respond. On July 9th, I sent a text to him and his son Garrett Carey (the owner) along with several pictures to show them the problems. NO RESPONSE AGAIN. I sent them both a text AGAIN on July 13th at 8:15 am and NO RESPONSE. I tried again at 10;30 to just Rene and let him know that I was disappointed. He responded to say that Greg and Jade would be contacting me shortly. I asked who they were and he stated that Greg was the Project Manager and Jade was the office manager. I had never met or talked to either of them up until this point. Greg came out and apologized for all that had happened. He agreed that the work was poorly done and incomplete. He then asked me to release the money and I told him that unfortunately, I couldn't because I can't seem to get anyone to help me when they haven't been paid and if I paid them, I would not be taken care of. He assured me that he would be very different and would definitely get the repairs made and keep in contact with me. I told him I had heard that before and that I felt I was being taken advantage of so I would have to hold off on releasing the check.
He sent the roofer out on July 22nd. I went to the house to meet the roofer (no BestTex rep was there). The roofer was trying to discuss it with me and said it was BestTex's fault about the drip edge because they never told him to install it and that it was a poor quality. NO ONE from BestTex ever showed up! I had to call my ex husband who speaks Spanish and understands roofing to talk to him, This is NOT my responsibility to debate with the roofer, It's THEIRS. No one even called to see how the appt. went which is very unprofessional and just goes to further prove the lack of concern for their work or customer satisfaction. I should NOT be having to tell the roofer what to repair and argue whose responsibility it is to fix it (his or BestTex).I reached out to Greg to let him know what the roofer said and he told me the office manager would contact me to get the gutters scheduled and that he would be in touch. Once again, I NEVER HEARD FROM HIM AGAIN EITHER!! The manager finally called days later and (like the others) apologized for the delay in getting in touch with me and asked what still needed to be done. She said she would reach out to Garrett since he was assigned to me and would definitely get back to me before COB that day. And I am sure you know what happened....I NEVER HEARD FROM HER! This was shortly before the check was requested so I know now why no one ever called.
My trust was completely betrayed. I was lied to on MULTIPLE occasions! I never knew there was a 30 day limit on the amount of time the Title Company could hold the check so I was crushed to find out that it is procedure to release the check after 30 days from start. I wish I would not have tried to work it out with BestTex or trusted them at all. They were paid for a job that was never completed and the drip edge is STILL sitting at my house on the GROUND and the job is unfinished!
Lou C.Garret Carey the owner answered my call first time and came right over to meet with us to discuss a roof replacement. He has been in constant contact along with his great staff throughout the process. They did an excellent job! Garrett also provided me with a veteran's discount which none of the other roofing companies would consider. We are very pleased with the work they did and would highly recommend them to anyone needing help with a roof.
I don't have much experience with roofing companies, since this was my 1st time in having a roof replaced. BUT, I was very impressed with this company. Since my insurance company wouldn't pay for the roof, they worked with me in getting it done. I was very impressed with their work ethics. They started the day at 7:30 am and was finished before 5 pm. When I got home from work, all I saw was my new roof, couldn't even tell they had been here. Their customer service is above and beyond. They truly care about their customers. Thank you BesTex.
I really like Bes Tex. It is not about the name, but it is about the people behind the name. It is a family own business with character, integrity, and the opportunity to go above and beyond the work agreement. Bill Reid is a great guy. He stands by his work and cares about each of his customers. I had my roof repaired and his pricing is fair. They did a great job and his men are efficient and precise. In addition, Bill's mother is a wonderful lady and this company always does things to give back to the community. If you are uncertain about what roofing company to go with, I can assure you that you can trust Bes Tex and this is coming from a guy who does not trust very easily. There is a saying that ""actions speak louder than words"". Roofing is a big investment, go with ""Good People"" that will always do the right thing.
