I did a huge mistake hiring from this company to fix a simple dry wall project. The contractor didn't know how to approach the problem and the solution he was trying to implement didn't workout and he got himself in a trap. I will not recommend this company to anyone. He left the house dirty with dry wall and compound debris. Poor delivery, poor ethics and poor customer service.

I used Yelp to contact several landscaping companies at once to get a quote on a backyard remodel to include the building of a patio with pergola. BLR responded quickly. Mauricio was the first person to come out to give me a quote. He was friendly, easy to talk to too and full of energy. He told he was a one man outfit with years of experience and a family history of construction. He seemed to understand what I was looking for and made some good suggestions. He asked what I was looking to pay and gave me a quote right in the middle. I have a feeling no matter what number I gave he would have done that. I was concerned that the work would be done by him alone. He told me he would only bring on one additional person when it was time to put the pergola in. Again this was a concern. My yard is small but I want the work done well and professionally. He pointed out several other small jobs that needed to be done around my property, so I agreed to try him out on some brick & concrete work I wanted done in the front yard.

I explained I wanted the front yard plant area expanded to the end of my porch and edged with some brick I had on hand and that I needed to have some concrete poured near the gate to make the gate open more smoothly. We agreed on a price and he came promptly the next day at the hour he said he would come. Throughout the day I had several landscape companies come to give me quotes on the backyard. They all quoted well above what BLR estimated. I was not surprised the quotes were higher but they all discussed bringing in a team to demo the yard and level out the ground. They also gave me specific options on wood types for the pergola. At this point Mauricio told me he had a ""brother"" in construction who had all types of wood available. He then attempted to pressure me into hiring him immediately by saying he could get the best wood at the best price. I ask multiple times what type of wood but his answers were vague ""I can get whatever you want"" as long as I would commit that day. He went on and on about how I needed to make a commitment right away to ensure the best wood at the best price.

He poured the concrete for the gate, then he offered to paint the bricks I had on hand for the flower bed to create a adobe finish. I liked the sample he showed me and agreed. When he finished for the day I looked over the work and thought it looked solid, not great, not stunning, but okay. The color in the paint was uneven but I thought that it needed to dry. I also noticed he only painted the outsides of the bricks and that the brick work was not level. But the bricks were given to me by a friend and they didn't all match, however I have a lot of them and I think if Mauricio had really tried he could have found enough bricks that matched to make the brick trim look better. At the end of the day I paid him (this was a Thursday). He told me he had a job to do the next day but he would come back to my place at the end of the day to do another coat of paint, replace the grass along the edges of the brick and touch up anything that needed to be done.

The next came and went, he did not show up. The day after that he called and said he would come by at the end of that day to finish. While on the phone he asked me if I had made a decision on the backyard, I told him I had signed a contract with another company. Today is Tuesday, he has not come back, he has not called , when I sent him a text he did not respond.

The color on the brick is uneven and splotchy, I also notice that the one of the flower beds is not squared off correctly making that area look lopsided.

At the end of the day it's just a small amount of brick, so I'll live with it. And the concrete poured for the gate looks good and functions well. But I'm left with a bucket of paint to clean up and I had to put the grass back in myself. Overall I felt the work was sloppy. BLR lacks professionalism. I would not recommend this company for anything other then cheap labor.
