My roof leaked last winter. Ben's father came to my home. I have called five times this month to see if a job had been scheduled to replace my roof. Not one call has been returned. I let them know each time I called that I had already left a message yet still no one called me back. I made a courtesy call today letting them know I was going to report them to the BBB and give them a bad review on YELP. I recommend NOT using them as either the women in the office who take the message are unable to pass them on, or they just don't care about returning a phone call. Does anyone want such an irresponsible company really replacing your roof???!!!

Please explain the additional thousands costs you added to the original proposal to 19983 Santa Maria Ave, Castro Valley, CA. It may be justified, but the information isn't being passed onto the HOA Board.
On 12/7/2019, we believe Ben's Roofing put a hole in the roof in the attic space, and no one at Ben's Roofing let anyone know. We are investigating as this is a very serious development.

Ben's Roofing is an EXCELLENT roofing company. The owner Gustavo is knowledgeable and courteous. We recently had a water leak issue at our business. They responded quickly and provided quality professional service. We will continue to use them for our gutter and roof maintenance.

This review is a little overdue, but I though I'd finally write one, given all the rain we've been having this winter. Our roof was replaced by Ben's Roofing in November/December 2015 in anticipation of El Nino (who knew at the time that this winter would be much, much worse). Chris provided a very thorough quote and answered my many questions. We opted for the Golden Pledge Warranty for extended protection. The job took a little longer than anticipated due to issues with our older skylights and rain in the schedule. Sometimes we didn't receive as much communication as we would have liked concerning when/if the crew was showing up that day. I work from home, so that was a bit of an issue for me. However, the final product speaks for itself, and we've had no issues during all this rain with our new roof, gutters, and downspouts. I would recommend getting a quote from Ben's. They're not the cheapest or fastest, but they're a solid, well managed company.

I definitely recommend Ben's Roofing if you want professional qualified installers with good communication working on your roof. We started looking into fixing our roof in December / January. It was not easy to find a roofer, but I managed to get 3 bids. Ben's Roofing was not the cheapest bid, but they were the most qualified and trustworthy to do the type of roof we were looking for (PVC) and in a timely manner. Chris at Ben's roofing was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to answer all my questions. I really appreciated the level of communication Chris put into the questions and bidding process.

The process was seamless, and the installers were communicative and cordial. The install happened in 2 days, with hardly a sign they had been there. The only reason I give 4 instead of 5 stars is that the quality seems to be great, but when I asked to look over the new roof with them (kind of like a final walk through), they were unable to schedule a good time based on my schedule (8am was too early and after 5:30 was too late). It's been a few months since the new roof was installed and I still haven't had a chance to go up and look on my own (we don't have a tall ladder), but I feel pretty good about it. I will update if I get a chance to schedule a walk through with them.

We own rentals in Berkeley and needed to have our roofs inspected for leaks and repairs. Chris came out on 1/30/15 to give us an estimate for repairs and replacement. He did his inspection and gave us his overall assessment. We agreed with him and he said he would email us an estimate within a couple weeks. As of today, 3/23/15, we have not heard back from Chris. I am now contacting others contractors for bids. FYI: my gardener and myself were talking in a corner of the driveway when we witnessed Chris hit the roof of our back garages with his ladder and broke the corner tile. My gardener and I walked over after Chris continued around the corner. We saw the corner piece he broke off lying on the ground. We left there and I decided not to say anything to see what Chris would do. Well, he said nothing to us but he after he left I went immediately back to pick up the tile piece and it was gone. Not my idea of an honest company. One star for showing up.

Update: I received a call and was indeed overcharged, and will only have to pay the original quote of $170. The convo was not difficult, dude was pretty gracious actually.

Of the half dozen companies that I tried to contact to get a semi-emergency repair done during last month's rain, this company answered me on the first try. I give them some slack for lack of communication due to probably every roofing company getting slammed at the time, but every conversation I had, regardless of time of day, was professional and I wasn't on hold for long.

As for the two guys who came out, they were professional and had a good sense of humor I appreciated. They were also quick (or maybe I just know how long it takes to repair a bullet hole in a roof). All things considered, the rate was fair.

The BEST part is that they email you an invoice with pictures of before and after! THAT was VERY cool.

So was the bullet they found that caused the hole in my roof, hehe.... =P

Fun facts: I found them through the BBB website (not Yelp, whoa), and they will send out people at all hours... like 24 or 24hrs in the day. Thumbs up.

We were very impressed by Ben's Roofing. They were highly recommended to us by friends who own a large residential property management company. They came a day early to check things out and were very efficient from start to finish: permitting, removal, repair, installation and final city inspection all done seamlessly; and kept us informed throughout. The entire job was done in 2.5 days, ahead of schedule. The staff worked smoothly and efficiently, and were always polite and accommodating. The grounds were kept clean at all times and our plants were undisturbed. Our roof is beautiful. We highly recommend them.
