After having Clay renovate the roof on our north Berkeley home, I recommended Beethoven's to the Building and Facilities Committee of our church in Oakland, for a bid to replace the old flat roof, no longer fixable (we had tried patching) over a large office complex that is part of our facility. The Committee chose his bid because it was the lowest of three and was backed by my recommendation, and we are very pleased with the outcome. As was my experience before, Clay himself was often at the job; he provided us with photographic documentation of the progress; the work was finished on time and, as expected, the work quality appears to be very high.

Clay and team did a thoroughly craftsman-like job on my new roof. They treated and coated my 800 sq ft flat roof with silicon roofing that is expected to last 20 years and rebuilt my addition roof of 200 sq ft with double layer torch down. Clay spent a lot of time explaining options and in walking me through each process as the work was being done. I feel confident that I got a very high quality of service.

Clay did a great job on our flat roof. He was also a pleasure to work with, professional, timely and courteous.

Rather than upsell a full roof overhaul which most roofers would do, Clay was not interested in that. He explained the pros and cons, and we were able to get away with a silicone treatment which was less than 50% of the cost and would likely survive longer as well. He backs his work with a warranty. He will go the extra mile to make sure things look right, and will explain how to care for the end result.

Best part was knowing that we were supporting local schools as well. Clay gives you the check he prepares so you can send it off yourself.

Finally, and most importantly, was the customer service. Clay knew that we are in the process of doing solar on our roof, and he offered at no extra cost to come by and improve the areas around flashings when the solar panels are installed. He even said he wanted to be around on the day of the install.

This is what you should look for - someone who cares about the craftsmanship of the work.

Clay and his team restored my flat torched-down roof with silicon and the mortar to my Spanish tile ridge-line. He saved me about half the cost of what an entirely new roof would cost (which I just couldn't afford right now). He sent photos to show me the updates as I am out of town and was a great communicator. When I need a new roof, I will definitely call again - it's nice to know that a percentage of the proceeds go to supporting music programs in public schools!

Beethoven's Roofing did two jobs at my home.

The first job was to replace the flashing around my chimney. I also asked Clay, the owner, to advise me regarding how I could extend the life of my roof which is now 25 years old. He found several spots on the roof that needed additional restoration. It was great to work with Clay who is very knowledge. He explained everything by taking pictures of the various issues on the roof. This was incredibly helpful because I never go up on my roof. They determined that an old TV antenna that was no longer in use was causing a problem with the flashing being able to seal correctly. They removed the huge antenna, cut it up into pieces and hauled it away. The work site was left sparkling clean.

My second job was to replace all of the rain gutters. Many of them had holes in them because they were made out of galvanized steel which rusts. Clay recommended that I replace them with aluminum gutters which do not have a rust problem. The gutter replacement team was very easy to communicate with. They listened to my concerns regarding eliminating water drainage near the foundation of the house. They also installed piping from one of the gutters along my side stairs which will lead the water away from my house. The new gutters look absolutely beautiful. Again, the worksite was left clean and spotless.

I highly recommend this company for all of your roofing needs. They are very knowledgeable, fast and a pleasure to work with. AND, as a bonus, Clay donates a percentage of the proceeds to the Berkeley schools music programs. It's really great when a business gives back to the community!

Clay did a great job restoring our flat roof. He was helpful and friendly every step of the way, really knows his stuff, and helped us understand more about our roof and how to care for it. He was also able to fit us in before the rains started! I'm so grateful, and it felt fantastic to send along a check to Berkeley Schools afterward.

Before deciding on Beethoven's Gutter Works and Roofing we got quotes from a few other companies. They would show up, climb onto the roof, and that's the last we'd see of them. A week later we'd get a quote, but there was no real communication. Clay, on the other hand, went up on the roof and documented everything with photos. He then proceeded to go over everything with us. We learned a lot talking with Clay. He's a craftsman who takes his job seriously and his commitment went beyond what we expected. During the project he noticed some very damaged siding that needed repair and replaced it with all new wood. This wasn't in our contract but it needed to be done, so Clay just took care of it. His foreman, David, even came out on a Sunday to go over a couple of questions we had. We're very happy with the job they did (entire roof replacement and new gutters). It was a pleasure working with Clay and his crew. We highly recommend Beethoven's Roofing and Gutterworks.

Clay did an amazing job on our flat roof.

Clay and his crew at Beethoven Roofing are the real deal. If you need your roof done, look no further. They redid my entire roof earlier this month. Everyone I interacted with was knowledgeable, respectful, skilled, and hard-working. They did what they said they'd do, and they did it on time. And no bait and switch on the pricing, either. I have an old house, with a complicated roof line. I've had it done three times in 15 years, and I think these guys - unlike those that came before them - got it right. It sure looks good. And I was home, watching. I have construction skills and experience, and I could see they knew what they were doing. Only rainy season will tell for sure, but that brings me to another thing: Clay is straight-forward, and very obviously a man of character and ethics. I have no doubt that in the unlikely event any problems arise come raining season, Clay will come out and make good.
