Beethoven's Roofing did two jobs at my home.

The first job was to replace the flashing around my chimney. I also asked Clay, the owner, to advise me regarding how I could extend the life of my roof which is now 25 years old. He found several spots on the roof that needed additional restoration. It was great to work with Clay who is very knowledge. He explained everything by taking pictures of the various issues on the roof. This was incredibly helpful because I never go up on my roof. They determined that an old TV antenna that was no longer in use was causing a problem with the flashing being able to seal correctly. They removed the huge antenna, cut it up into pieces and hauled it away. The work site was left sparkling clean.

My second job was to replace all of the rain gutters. Many of them had holes in them because they were made out of galvanized steel which rusts. Clay recommended that I replace them with aluminum gutters which do not have a rust problem. The gutter replacement team was very easy to communicate with. They listened to my concerns regarding eliminating water drainage near the foundation of the house. They also installed piping from one of the gutters along my side stairs which will lead the water away from my house. The new gutters look absolutely beautiful. Again, the worksite was left clean and spotless.

I highly recommend this company for all of your roofing needs. They are very knowledgeable, fast and a pleasure to work with. AND, as a bonus, Clay donates a percentage of the proceeds to the Berkeley schools music programs. It's really great when a business gives back to the community!

Clay did a great job restoring our flat roof. He was helpful and friendly every step of the way, really knows his stuff, and helped us understand more about our roof and how to care for it. He was also able to fit us in before the rains started! I'm so grateful, and it felt fantastic to send along a check to Berkeley Schools afterward.

Before deciding on Beethoven's Gutter Works and Roofing we got quotes from a few other companies. They would show up, climb onto the roof, and that's the last we'd see of them. A week later we'd get a quote, but there was no real communication. Clay, on the other hand, went up on the roof and documented everything with photos. He then proceeded to go over everything with us. We learned a lot talking with Clay. He's a craftsman who takes his job seriously and his commitment went beyond what we expected. During the project he noticed some very damaged siding that needed repair and replaced it with all new wood. This wasn't in our contract but it needed to be done, so Clay just took care of it. His foreman, David, even came out on a Sunday to go over a couple of questions we had. We're very happy with the job they did (entire roof replacement and new gutters). It was a pleasure working with Clay and his crew. We highly recommend Beethoven's Roofing and Gutterworks.

Clay did an amazing job on our flat roof.
He was on time and took pictures every day to show us what he was doing on the roof. Also he was easy to work with and answered any concerns. We recommend him highly.

Clay and his crew at Beethoven Roofing are the real deal. If you need your roof done, look no further. They redid my entire roof earlier this month. Everyone I interacted with was knowledgeable, respectful, skilled, and hard-working. They did what they said they'd do, and they did it on time. And no bait and switch on the pricing, either. I have an old house, with a complicated roof line. I've had it done three times in 15 years, and I think these guys - unlike those that came before them - got it right. It sure looks good. And I was home, watching. I have construction skills and experience, and I could see they knew what they were doing. Only rainy season will tell for sure, but that brings me to another thing: Clay is straight-forward, and very obviously a man of character and ethics. I have no doubt that in the unlikely event any problems arise come raining season, Clay will come out and make good.

We were so pleased with Beethoven's Gutterworks and Roofing. Clay is a wonderfully skilled craftsman who has a deep appreciation for old houses and for water tightness! He was able to diagnose a problem that no other roofer could, and had the skills to fix both the roof and the delicate wooden area surrounding it (including rebuilding a small deck that was full of dry rot). Clay was also able to cover and secure an ugly area of siding that had been butchered with a previous roofing job that no one else would touch. He CUSTOM designed and built a quality watertight counter flashing out of wood that echoed the Victorian details of our 1906-era home and found the paint to match. His work was extremely high quality and authentic to the original style of the home. It was easy to communicate with Beethoven's and schedule the work, and we are grateful to Clay and his team for both their skills and work ethic. Further, at the end of the project, a portion of the proceeds went to funding music in the schools, which felt like a real bonus for having to fix our leaky roof. Five stars and two thumbs up!

Clay and his crew did an excellent job from beginning to end. I had extensive dry rot that was unseen until they pulled everything off. One of the beams that extends out facing the ocean was in such bad shape I was really concerned, but Clay worked on it himself, removing the dry rot, hammering rods into the end of the beam to strengthen it, sealing it and then putting a metal sleeve over it to protect it and painted it to match the rest. Amazing! The roof looks great, all the extensive damage replaced and repaired. To top it off Clay wrote a check to the music department of my alma mater, Berkeley High School. I recommend Clay and his team with flying colors!!

Clay did an excellent job repairing my clay tile roof, not an easy job. He was professional, timely, extremely knowledgeable and great to work with. He educated me along the way -- taking photos and explaining what we were looking at-- on what needed to be repaired and why, so that I could make good decisions. I highly recommend him!

I am very happy about the work Beethoven's Gutter has done on my roof. I called them in the middle of the current rainy season, and they were courteous, professional, and on time, and this is at the time when other companies refused to even provide an estimate due to frequent rains. They replaced a large furnace vent structure, including custom-making of flashing to correct poor original job. My roof is not leaking any more!

We enjoyed working with Clay and his team very much. We originally hired them to clean the gutters. They explained some other work that needed to be done and came up with a project schedule that met our demands. Clay was professional and walked us through the entire process very clearly. He showed us pictures of the decaying roof and explained how he could fix it. The completed a full roofing restoration on our hot tar roof. Afterwards, he showed us pictures of the completed work. I also love that a portion of their proceeds go directly to the Berkeley Public School Fund and the music program. We will hire them again each year to continue maintaining our tar and gravel roof.
