When my roof developed leaks around the skylight I knew I had to do something about it. Fortunately for me we are in one of the worst droughts so for over a year and half it was not urgent to get it fixed, but I knew that would change.

Based upon the glowing reviews on Yelp I contacted Bay Area Re-Roofing to get a quote. Randy Martinez came out and inspected the damage and provided me a quote for a complete re-roofing using GAF composite shingles instead of repairing or re-roofing with the original wood shake shingles.

I took exception to some of his statements that wood shakes were no longer being manufactured and interpreted this as pressure to go with a composite roof which I did not like as I knew better. That is why I did not select Bay Area Re-Roofing.

Unfortunately I could not afford a total re-roof with composite shingles and wanted to keep the original wood shake roof as it breathes better in the summer and allows the house to become cooler than putting down sheets of plywood that trap the hot air in the summer months and require some kind of enhanced ventilation system to compensate for that while the shake roof allows the roof to breathe and allow the hot air to slowly escape in the summer months.

So if you are looking for a total re-roof featuring GAF composite shingles Randy is your guy.

We had our roof replaced by Bay Area Re-Roofing. The whole process went very quickly and without any major issues. They communicated clearly, where very responsive and all around just great people to do business with.

I won't pretend that I can give an accurate assessment of re-roofing work, although the new roof certainly looks great. The inspector was impressed with the quality of the work and the attention to detail. They proactively replaced damaged wood around the chimney and also fixed some sins from the original construction of the house.

They did a great job covering everything up making sure nothing got dirty or damaged and cleanup afterwards was spotless.

Bay Area Re-roofing just finished replacing our roof. They did a very good, quality job - much better than the roof they replaced. We were very pleased with their responsiveness, timeliness, workmanship, and cleanup. They gave us a competitive bid, though not the lowest. However, they gave us more than other bidders were offering. Randy (and his crew) were all very knowledgeable and experienced. Randy explained many options and issues and responded very quickly when needed. I'm very happy we chose them and would do it again - though I trust I won't have to.

Excellent customer service!!
I bought a new home that had some severe language in the inspection report regarding the roof. All other companies I called wanted to sell me a new $20-30k new roof.
Randy sent a crew out to survey.
The news he had for me was indeed ""GREAT""!! He was honest and informed me that my existing roof had plenty of life still left in it and just needed some minor repairs.
He was very informative and provided options & alternatives that I could choose from that would remedy the problem and fit my budget. I did have a lot of questions and he took the time to listen and then explain all of the process. Once I committed to the contract of work he was out the following week to complete. Once the work was done I took a look on the roof and noticed one thing that I was probably being picky about that I wanted fixed. No questions asked, Randy sent out the crew immediately and they took care of it.
I am very happy to know that I have someone to turn to when ever a need arises in the future.
I highly recommend Randy and his crew. They are absolutely great!

Randy and his team are excellent in all respects. I had them do a roof repair about 2 years ago to help fix a few things on a really old roof that was nearing the end of its useful life. They did an excellent and thorough job at a very competitive price. This past month, I hired Randy and his team to install a new roof. They were very quick to provide an estimate and their communication was excellent, telling me when to expect the work to begin, how long it would take and providing updates/phone calls on how things were progressing. The key highlights of randy and his team:

1) Honesty - never tries to tell you that you need something you don't. Example: We had received another estimate from another roofer and they said we would likely need to change the skylights and that would cost another $1k. I asked Randy and his team to replace the skylights if needed. He said he would check them out when removing the old roof and get back to me. He called me back the day they were removing the old roof and told me that the skylights do not need to be replaced and that everything is fine. I think most roofers that want to make some extra bucks would just tell you that it needs to be replaced and you'd never know...not with Randy. He's an honest guy you can trust.

2) Communication - gives you updates during the job as needed, responds to emails promptly, sent me estimates within a day.

3) Competitive prices - checked with 3 other places...Randy's prices were either lower or about the same.

4) Thoroughness and experienced - he knows exactly what is going on, what updates to give you, what forms/permits need to get signed. His team was efficient and did a thorough job cleaning up afterwards.

I had Bay Area remove a concrete tile roof and install a new roof. They did an excellent job, with a great attention to the smallest details. They showed up when they said they would and did a thoroughly professional job. Not only did they do the roof, they did a substantial amount of repair (dry rot, etc.).
