Overall, we had a good experience with Jose and his team. They arrived promptly, worked fast, and did a great job for our roof. Jose took the time and showed me on the roof the work they did and gave tips for caring for our roof and gutters.
One thing I wish could have done better is if they would inform us of the debris that was going to fall into our unfinished garage/laundry room. Jose did offer to give us a $200 refund for the cleanup work, which was a nice gesture we appreciated.

We recently had our roof replaced by Bay 101 Roofing. Before choosing them, I got inspections and quotes from 3 other roofing companies. While the other companies seemed competent, my inspection and follow-up conversations with Michael at Bay 101 convinced me to go with them. Michael was more knowledgable than the others and was very level-headed with me about what options and add-ons are worthwhile versus just for appearance. The others were far more interested in selling me only their ""best"" (aka most expensive) products. Furthermore, Michael worked with me to accommodate some special requests I had from my best friend in SoCal who is a roofer with some strong opinions. This showed that Michael clearly understood that gaining his customer's trust that the new roof would be done right are critically important, much more so than just selling the ""standard"" product and job. The roof looks great, and I know it will serve my family far better than the old roof because of the improved materials and the vastly upgraded attic ventilation that Bay 101 installed for me. I'd definitely use Bay 101 again, although with the 50 year warranty they gave me, it's not likely I'll be around for that. :)

The office was very easy to work with when I called to requested an appointment for a quote for roof replacement. Jose came to our house right on time. He inspected our roof and informed me that our roof would still be good for another six to eight years and did not need to be replaced yet. He also took the time to
answer our questions and explain different types of roofing materials. I found him to be down on earth, honest, and experienced. We will definitely call on him again when it comes time for roof replacement.

A roofing supply company recommended Bay 101 Roofing Company. We called for an estimate (no charge) and Michael Hunt came to our rental property within a few days. He met with our property manager as we wanted to replace the old shake roofs for our duplexes. We already knew what roofing product we wanted to select: GAF Timberline HD. Michael met with our property manager and presented her with three GAF booklets, one for the mgr. and the other two for the owners. This folder contained the GAF products, Frequently Asked Questions page, Customer List and Insurance certificate. Compared to other roofing companies he was the most prepared for his first visit. He always answered so many of our questions and was prompt in getting back to us. He has a very pleasant personality and is very knowledgeable.
His partner, Jose is in charge of the roof crew. Also a nice person and the crew seemed happy to be working. The crew was prompt, hardworking and did a good job of cleanup.
Just so pleased with a company that takes pride in their workmanship and happy to give them a 5-star rating.

My shingle roof plus various damage underneath were removed and replaced by Bay 101 a couple of weeks ago. Michael was excellent to work with from work proposal to the final walk through of the completed job, and answering lots of questions in between. He was generous on the cost, considering the amount of replacement rafters that were uncovered. The crew led by Jose was professional and thorough from stripping off two layers of shingle, hauling away debris each day, putting together a beautiful new roof, and a paint job to match. The included roofer and manufacturer warranties will give peace of mind for the rain seasons.

Bay 101 just finished our roof replacement (single family home), putting in a new CertainTeed Presidential TL Solaris roof and removing our old shake roof that was nearing the end of its lifespan.

Breaking it down into a few areas:

Estimate/Communication: Overall really responsive with emails and phone calls and was able to come out and give an estimate pretty quickly. Went the extra mile to come to our home to show us colors, show us gutter samples, and pick up the check etc over several occasions which was helpful too. Worked primarily with Lorena in the office and then Jose about the actual roofing. Had some minor miscommnication initially about the scope of the work (thinking it was just for the garage vs entire roof replacement) but sorted that out pretty quickly. Jose also had me go up with him on the roof and showed me the completed work.

Quality of work: I'm no roofer so take it all with a grain of salt- the completed work looks great and have had some rain with no issues. That isn't saying that much quite honestly but after doing some research, Bay 101 are also CertainTeed Select Shingle Masters as well as Owens Corning Platinum Preferred contractors meaning they can offer the best warranties (I'm not sure if you can just pay to get these things but I'd assume they have some quality standards that have to be achieved before getting this status). Hence, we ended up getting the best Certainteed Sure Start Plus warranty with 50 year coverage so that gives some peace of mind.

They also were careful to clean up (which was appreciated given 2 young kids who might step on any stray nails etc) and were polite/courteous when they were over.

Value: This is where Bay101 really shined, coming in not at the lowest, but the lowest (by several K) for roofers with well established reputations/select shingle masters/oc platinum preferred etc. Also, the final cost was very much in line with the estimate.

Bottom line: Easy to work with, communicative, great reputation (via yelp, certainteed select shingle master/oc platinum preferred contractor etc), good value. Would recommend them to others looking to get roofing work done.
