The bid was written November and the work completed in May! Very shabby work including many ""shiners"" as they replaced a few boards on the roof. They painted the rain gutters with 2 inch brushes. It looked like a 3 rd grade art work. They did not cover my plants or river rock below their paint job so now we have painted plants and painted rocks. In defense of the owner, Scott he did come out to view this mess when I called him but the quality of the work from his company is second rate.
I had Barth Roofing do some extensive repairs on my roof a little over a year ago (new valleys and other tile work). They had a fair price and did a very good job, even added a little extra work that really made me feel confident and comfortable with the repair.
I just called them today to take a look at my dryer roof vent to make sure there were no issues. Ezequiel (the awesome rep who was also the one I worked with for the initial repair) came out the same day and did a thorough inspection, even took pictures to show me what he founded (there was no problem, just me being overly cautious).
Very impressed with Ezequiel and Barth Roofing, they clearly stand by their work and their warranties. I will definitely be using them when it's finally time for a new roof.
Christina C.They did a good job on my repair last year. The price was fair and I am happy with the work.
John H.Exciting new home purchase!
A VA home loan requires a termite inspection, which recommended a roof inspection. We called Barth Roofing based on past performance and reputation experience. Barth knew the urgency in a Sale Transaction that we needed the inspection quick. There were a few minor repairs needed and a 2 year roof certification required for underwriting. Barth helped meet our deadlines. Thank you Barth Roofing. John Hinrichs. Loan Broker Cal Coast Financial 925-784-6410
Terrible customer service. First, the company made an appointment to come repair my roof without asking for my availability. When I let them know that day/time would not work for me, we scheduled an appointment that would work. The day of the scheduled appointment, no one showed up or called. I called and left a voicemail, halfway through that day, but received no call back. So there is one day totally wasted waiting for them. When I finally reached someone, I rescheduled again. They were supposed to be here first thing in the morning today, between 8-9 am. I called at 10 am because still....no one has shown up. They stated that the guys went to another job further out first and would be here this afternoon. Again....another day wasted. This company has no consideration or respect for their customer's time!!!
Jan H.Let me start by saying that my issue is not resolved yet, I am leaving this rating based on my experience so far (I will update this as soon as everything is resolved). I contacted this company based on a friend's recommendation for a re-roof job on a single family comp. shingle roof, plus I wanted to use a company is local to where I live. The quoting process was relatively pain-less, even though the guy who provided the bid wasn't the best communicator... I felt I was quoted a fair price and reasonable timeline to complete the work, so I paid the deposit.
I haven't heard for weeks about start date (must say that it was very rainy, so many jobs must have been delayed), so I called and was told that the job wasn't going to get done until late April. I told them it wasn't OK as I was promised late February. They worked the job into the schedule and started mid March, which was appreciated. The issue came after this: I was contacted and told that there were 3 layers of shingles that had to be removed instead of 2 as quoted. They wanted an extra $520 as cost is based off the per square price of the labor to tear off, the cost to dump the materials, and the fuel/time to go to the dump and back. My question: don't they have to tear off 2 layers anyway and take that to the dump anyway? $520 seemed pretty excessive.
Then came the next one, one day later. They said they found dry rot and a bunch of wood had to be replaced plus knot holes covered with metal. I was told it would take one guy all day, (8 man hours) to cover the knot holes so they can roof over it, they will need rolled aluminum about 50ft, and 30ft of 1x8, 20ft of 1x10, and 2 sheets of ply wood. I was given another change order for $830 (!!). Since I am also in the construction industry and have done roofing myself before, I kew this was bull.... I drove out there and looked at the roof as the roofers started to lay down the underlayment. There was no plywood replaced and based on the old wood removed, they replaced maybe 20-30 ft. of skip sheeting, all of which should have not taken more than 3-4 hours (I am being generous here) including covering up the knot holes. I then contacted them and asked why they charging me for things that weren't done (plywood replacement), and I was told that it was not included in the change order as the roofers didn't do it. Interestingly, they still try to charge me 8 hours and $150 in materials which is a joke. I asked the owner to call me to discuss and so far I haven't received a call.
So far my impression is that they give you a lower bid and try to make up the money on excessive change orders. They tried to charge me for material and work that was not needed, which is not only unethical, but against CA State license law. Major RED flag!!! I haven't even looked at the completed job yet.....To be continued....
April 2. update: Approx. 10 days ago the county inspector called me looking for the permit card. I told him I didn't have it as Barth Roofing did the work. He said the inspection had been scheduled but no one from Barth Roofing showed up...(!). It would need to be rescheduled.
To this date I have not heard back from Barth Roofing, even though I sent them another email asking to call me back.
May 4. owner made contact and came to a conclusion that there is nothing wrong what they did and all charges are correct. Not surprised at all, zero integrity.
On top of that, he's threatening with a lien. Let's see what the State License Board will say about this.
I would not recommend this company. They will rip you off! I used them once a few years ago to clean my gutters on a 2 story house of approx. 3, 400 sq ft., and was charged some where under $150. Recently my tenants moved out of one of my rental properties, so I had Barth came out to give me a quote. They sent a young guy to the property, its a one story house, approx. 1, 500 sq ft. He went up the roof, took pictures, and then showed me what he saw; and suggests I needed them fix. He quoted me $650 for the whole job. I was pissed and then got after him. I told him I need to get a second opinion. A week later, another company came out and they told me the problems on the roof were minor and will not cause leakage and that my gutters were clean. I am truly disgusted with this company, unethical!
They did a really nice job on my roof. Kayla in the office is really nice to work with.
Angelique K.I had work done on my roof, hired a company called Barth Roofing from Tracy CA and they left a big open hole on my stucco. Now they refuse to fix it, leaving me with damages. My recommendation Don't ever trust this company!
I cannot recommend this company! Our roof has been nothing but a DISASTER! There has been thousands of dollars of water damage done to our house thanks to the shoddy job Barth Roofing did on our ""new"" roof. Even under warranty, they were not able to fix the problem and were not easy to work with. Save your house and your money...do not use this company!
