Brett Thomas B.This firm delivered on all representations & then some. We had the Cirque de Soleil of rat infestations in our attic. We called Attic Construction after bait boxes and spring traps failed miserably. Attic Construction responded immediately and their inspection (performed thoroughly and with photos of all damage/nests) convinced us to hire them. Josh did an excellent job in preparing a straight forward quote and arranged for the actual work right away. The work crew...Jeremy, Cisco and Jacob...were fantastic. Completely removed all debris, treated the area and sealed all rat access points. Again, photos were provided of all work progress. The new insulation is great...we'll appreciate it in both summer and winter weather. We heard some rat activity after the job was complete and they came back out without hesitation and sealed one last tiny hole at no additional charge. It is a pleasure to no longer hear the ""circus"" and to deal with such a company. We would recommend them without reservation!
Thank you to Adam, Thomas, Rueben and Nick for their prompt, professional help! I had a roof rat problem and hopefully, that is all resolved. The guys were pleasant and helpful. This is not inexpensive, but worth it if you want to sleep soundly at night!
Very strange experience. I thought these guys come highly rated on YELP so i gave them a call. (Now as I inspect their reviews, i see lots of 1 star complains of scams and high pressure sales tactics.)
Now my review: I am adding 1100 sqfoot addition to my home and we're at the stage where we need insulation installed... I called two other companies and their bids came in at around $1500 and $1600. I called Attic and their bid came in at a whopping $6800... nutsz. Maybe they don't do insulation or the estimator doesn't know what he's looking at.. Who in their right mind pays $6800 for insulation of a 1100 sqfoot addition LOL... I showed my contractor the bid from Attic and he laughed so hard , he thought it was unbelievable the price they quoted.
Update: I had a competitor install the insulation which was installed between the outside walls, in my garage attic and subfloors. Total cost was $1500. For $300 more, I could have had them put insulation between the first and second floor of my addition. My contractor told me I should pay approximately $1400-1700 for my insulation and the competitor came in right in the middle.. The inspector came out the next day and signed his approval.
Now back to Attic Construction's bid... uhhh $6800? No matter how much Kevin C. trying to justify their pricing, its ridiculous. For $6800, I should be insulation a 3000 sqfoot house with 10000 sqfoot of insulation lol. Total rip-off.. beware, they are high pressure sales.. Don't fall for the do it today and get a discount .. Make sure you get multiple bids from other contractors to compare the price difference. I think these guys eventually find a sucker that overpays for their work -- not with me and hopefully not with YELP customers. Or maybe they saw I was spending lots of money on a new addition so they jacked their price up thinking I was a sucker.
Very pleased with the entire process start to finish. Adam inspected our property, told us what to expect, introduced us to the crew when they arrived, and was extremely professional throughout the process. The crew protected our property, carpets, wall coverings, furniture, and completed the job as expected in one day. Photos were provided throughout the estimate, clean-up, and final installation of insulation. Our attics are now clean, sanitized, secure from outside intruders, and well insulated. Crawl spaces have also been checked and secured. Not a cheap procedure, and certainly a nasty job, but worth the expense to clean and maintain our home in excellent condition. Thank you Adam, Lane and Jose for your efforts on our behalf.
Had this company come out to evaluate insulation over a spare bedroom as well as venting and duct work. Was told that I had an active infestation of rats with fresh feces throughout the insulation and that the insulation would need to be completely removed and new insulation blown in at a cost of $3000. After having three other professionals come in that deal exclusively with rodent control they all laughed and said there was no active infestation and that the feces were years old and there was absolutely no problem nor reason to pull out the insulation. They all asked me who said that I had an active infestation and I told them. Their response was oh obviously it was an insulation company that wanted to sell you more insulation! So although this company does rodent control their primary business is insulation so be leery of what they are trying to sell you. They may be good at doing insulation I don't know. But in my book someone that is a thief and a liar I would not do business with.
Robert R.Met with Jake yesterday morning, He was on time ,dressed neatly, and Very polite and respectful. He looked in our attic, took pictures of what was there. He didn't find anything that needed doing. I was very impressed with him and the Company he represents. Very Honest and straight forward. I like that. I would definitely use them when I need them in the future.
I heard the noises in the attic but then it stopped. And then it came back and it brought friends.
So, I had Attic Masters, Attic Construction, Terminix and Pacific Coast Termite give me an estimate. The estimate included vacuuming the debris (rat and termite droppings), removing the urine stained insulation, use an eco-friendly spray on 'spots', use foam and/or wire netting to close off obvious points of entry.
I choose Attic Construction because they were very professional and careful of my property. My carpet and flooring were protected even when they did the estimate.
They came back to do the work and covered everything that was in their path to the attic. I really really appreciated that. No one wants the debris that is in the attic falling down in your live-able space.
They took out bags and bags of insulation, vacuumed for hours, then came back to lay down the new insulation. I opted for the rolled out insulation (Owens Corning) versus the blown in insulation.
It does cost more than you think to do all of the work however it is a very nasty job and they did it without complaining and they did it well.
My attic space is about 850 sq feet and I paid $2700. I did experience the same 'sales discussion' as noted in other reviews. I saw their ad in the San Diego Home Improvement magazine, however after the inspection a different price was given then there was a bit of negotiating, then he called his boss and got the 'manager special' and offered it to me for that day only because he had a cancellation.
But I needed it done and I could not do it. They did a great job.
Called Attic Construction out to look at our attic insulation. We were losing a lot of heat in one upstairs bedroom during the winter, and gaining a lot in the summer. So I wanted to see if we could address this problem by improving our insulation. Another company came out and told us they could add six inches of blown-in for $1,100. Adam from Attic Construction came out, did a *very* thorough inspection - and told us we didn't need anything at all! Our insulation was fine, the problem was just that the room is above a garage. More insulation in the attic wouldn't solve the problem.
I really appreciate Adam's integrity and professionalism in not trying to sell us something we didn't need. I didn't end up using Attic Construction's services, but believe me - if I need attic work done in the future, I definitely will!
Just had Lane and Matt at the house today to install insulation. Called to tell me they were on their way. Got right to work after letting me know how they would proceed through the job. Courteous, knowledgeable, draped floors and walls to protect from damage, and cleanup left absolutely nothing for me to do. Price was very competitive. Oh, and our house is much comfortable now. Noticeable difference!
Jiaxin G.Short story:
Nice people to work with, an hour and half late for the work, very expensive work so I hope I got what I paid for. I know very little about attic insulation and what not so I just trust whatever they said.
Long story:
I had one contractor removed some old insulation in the attic. We already got the new duct and most of needed for the new duct installation. However, he didn't finish the job and went MIA. I saw attic construction's ad on the mail before so we decided to give them a call. We don't have any rodent problem but the operator said they also do air duct installation. Jake came out to do estimate on the day before Thanksgiving. He went up to the attic and did some measurements. Came down and do the math with us. It turned out our house has very little insulation in the attic and the SDGE requirement for house was 10 inch tall. Anyways, the total for the air duct installation and adding more insulation was $3250. That's a lot of money for adding more insulation and putting air duct in. (They put in two 7-inch air ducts and three bags of insulation while we provided the rest.) They also put some wire on the air holes to prevent animals from getting in the attic. We were kinda desperate for the heat and Jake was very good sales man so we went for it. 10% deposit was paid through check (you can do either cash or check) and we set a day to do the job.
At the day of the work, the team was around an hour and half late to my house. They didn't call us about what's going on and when we called the company, the operator didn't sound like she knew where's the team neither. Anyways, when the team actually came, they said it's because they had issue with the previous job. I would appreciate it if I can get some notification.
The team was very nice people. They listened to me when I requested to have some plastic cover for the room. I didn't go up to check the process during the almost five hours job they did becuase I have bad allergies with dust. It sounded like they were working hard in the attic. My mom was nice to them too and she got them pizza and drinks. There was one side story. When Jake gave us the estimate, he told us they provide two years warranty for the work. However, when the team finished the job and we signed the final paper, the manager said they only do one year warranty. I couldn't argue against it becuase we didn't ask Jake to write that down. And the email o got did say one year. Oh well, I made a mental note to myself saying remember to record what people promise me next time. Then the manager made a call and said they will honor the two year warranty on the rodent prevention but not the insulation. I guess that's better than nothing but still. I didn't have any rodent problem to begin with and I am not worried about that.
At the very end I put on the whole body jumpsuit and mask to go look at the attic. It did look a lot better than before. I used a ruler to check if the insulation really is 10 inches thick. The insulation is all fluff up so it kinda reach 10 inches. But I feel like it would settle and flatten to less 10 inches later because the insulation went down when I put my hand on it lightly.
I just hope they did their best and I got what I paid for.
