Terrible company. Lousy communication. They showed up at my house to install new shingles. I got my credit card out and the roofer said they don't except credit cards. When I called the office to ask them why they didn't tell me this first the owner actually said ""because you didn't ask"".

I hate to give a bad review. But I would never recommend them again.

During the JANUARY 2023 storms of a century we found out that we had terrible water leaks through the roof. We tried to get roofers to come out. Atlas came out and gave quote and were quick to do so. They also promised to start work on Feb. 1 with the quote to redo the roof and re-use the same tiles. Due to our emergency situation with the roof we were happy to have them do so. I think they said that they could start earlier to sell us on the job. We had another roofer give us a quote and he told us he couldn't start until the end of February. We should have gone with this other roofer. I personally believe that Atlas makes promises, but aren't necessarily good at keeping them.

Shortly After accepting their quote and well before Feb 1, we decided to completely redo the tile rather than using the old tile. They then said that there would be a delay due to ordering the tile. they didn't order the tile and delayed.

They then never communicated if they bought tile, or any other issues. We had to keep calling them to find out what was going on. Finally, sometime in March they said that they were ready to do the work. Part of the reason was the rain delay. However, there were several consecutive days where the rain was not happening and they could have started the work but didn't. They took about about 3 1/2 weeks to finish the job.

Because of the communication issues, we decided to hire a construction manager that was a licensed contractor and roofer to oversee their work. He informed us that Atlas was doing stuff that was cutting corners and he had to keep pushing Atlas to do the right job to make sure that the roof was properly sealed.

One time, I told Daniel that we wanted to make sure it was permitted. He answered, like he was unhappy with us asking for it to be permitted, and reluctantly agreed to have it be permitted and that it would take longer.

Daniel the boss, kept making us feel like we were asking for too much by having someone oversee his work and asking for things to be done such as making sure the flashing was at proper length to make sure that we dont' have any leaks. And then he kept saying that he was going out of his way to add items on the roof that he ""normally"" wouldn't do but would cost extra. We kept saying we want the roof to be sealed properly and to do the right job. Our construction manager informed us that the items Daniel said were extra were just normally part of a good job.

One time, he took off the tile, and took off the paper and added new paper. then left it not covered or protected, and the paper started to fly off with the wind, and a rain was supposed to happen the next day. Why would they leave roof paper ready to fly away and leave a house fully exposed to rain? answer, just careless workmanship. I had to call them to tell them to come back and put something down so that the paper doesn't blow away.

Our construction manager had to mark areas on the roof several times that needed to be redone or fixed. Luckily, the manager was there. Because if we were there and didn't go up on the roof, who knows if Daniel and his small crew of sons would probably have let it go and cut corners.

After the job was done and Daniel stated that the job was done, it was clear that he left nails, dirt, scraps, etc. around. Only after our construction manager came back and told him that he needed to clean it up and should not leave a job site dirty did he come back.

Please note that Daniel apparently has 30 years in the business. Most likely, I think as an employee, but not as a business owner. But I don't think he has been in business for a long time. The business is Daniel -- the installer; his son(s) as assistants; and his wife as a scheduler.

Their boss Daniel is a terrible communicator and is, unfortunately, unwilling to listen to criticism. At one time, he tried to give my wife the impression that he didn't understand English when she was telling him to do certain things.

Every time I spoke with him he kept giving excuses. He didn't communicate well. To be fair he may be an ok roofer, but his communication skills cause him to be a terrible business to be working with.

As a side note, my mom's house needed a roof also, but not as urgently. the other roofer that came to quote the work did my mom's roof. he was professional, finished the job quickly, no questions about the permit, had a full crew do the work, and was done in less than a week. Comparing the two was interesting as an experience.

I regret having hired ATlas due to the emergency of the rains. But given the fact that the construction manager was there to make sure the job was done well, I am comfortable that the roof should be likely a good project.
