Atlas Roofing was a company that Yelp suggested when I asked for a review from another company, so I thought I'd go with it. The sent a guy out today, very young, who clearly had no idea what he was talking about, at least when it comes to a historic home.

We are likely going to have to replace our wood shake roof even though it has at least 15 years of life on it, because our insurance company won't insure the house with it. But because it's historic, all changes to the house have to go through a cultural heritage board for approval. You have to make any changes look as original as possible. So you can't take off wood shakes and replace them with cheap asphalt tiles.

So I explained this to the guy that showed up and he looked at me like I was crazy. He clearly had never heard of tiles that look like reproduction wook shakes. So I looked it up on my phone and he's scrolling through all the pages and says he's going to have to research it.

Well, if you show up to estimate and you don't even know what's available on the market, that's a clue that I shouldn't choose your company.

He then asks if there's plywood under the tiles and I said of course there is, what would they nail the wood shakes to if there's no plywood and he says to the paper underlayment.

What???

Who is this guy and why did they hire him???

So it's a definite no go with Atlas Roofing.

We had a 1950s low slope rock roof that started leaking with the heavy rains. Jack was very professional, informative, and communicative. We wanted to replace the entire roof, about 3000 sq ft, with combination color matched shingles and torch down. Demolition was fast, he walked me through the areas that needed replaced plywood, explained how he would handle the edges, valleys and vents. Inspection went smoothly. Installation took one day and finished just in time for more rain. Highly recommend Jack and his people.

I could not have asked for a better experience than the one I received from Atlas Roofing. I have gotten two estimates to fix the leak in my roof. Both came in around $3000 each. I tried to book the services, only to be ghosted by both places. I found Atlas on the Better Business Bureau website. I made a call and Barry came by that same day. He found the leak in my roof in minutes after crawling into the attic., which no one else bothered to do. I am more than happy to recommend Atlas Roofing to everyone and anybody!

When the torrential rains came a few weeks ago and I discovered a roof leak - it was time of desperation. After a quick search of local roofers, I chose Atlas Roofing because of their reasonable bid, use of quality material, and promise to start immediate work once the rains had ceased. In hindsight, it was the best decision I had made. As promised, they began work in a timely fashion, the work crew was experienced, efficient, punctual, and polite. Berry, the owner, was on sight, personally supervising the project. In his absence, Milton, the foreman, did a superb job of coordinating the replacement of the entire roof including about 60% of damaged wood. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Atlas Roofing. I would not recommend. Was ready to book an appointment and the customer service person said on by the way our minimum job is $1,500. I have a minor leak..how is this fair to just basically up sell me on a ridiculous price for likely 1 or two hours of labor? Bad business! It might be a minor leak this time but you've lost a future lifetime customer.

Update: After owners response I felt I have to respond to. What a lack of self awareness. Yes let's have a customer listen to customer service for 15 min then by the way...one final detail, we charge $1,500 bc our guys should make $750 an hour for 2 hours of labor. Yes ok. I called off another roofer and wasted 4 days on your company while our roof was leaking. What planet do you live on to blame me? Also, had someone come out that was reasonable and did not do this bait and switch bs. Don't be friendly then tell me I'm not worth your time.
